Condolences to your son, FEEDER. It's hard when losing a friend or family member. Those 2 young men were just as stupid as the 2 young men in Boston.
Can't understand why people have to be the way they are, the world would be a far better place with tollreance, & understanding, instead of the me, me, me attitude that seems to abound in all countries religions, & races

Val, going to do the recipe tomorrow or Sat. Going to the recipe page some people commented that it was a little runny and asked for thickeners. Wanting gluten free I found this page that discusses some thickeners. Gluten and corn free thickeners? Help! - General Topics - Chowhound
I'm picking up some gluten free mushroom soup tomorrow. Also, I've been using Better Than Bullion for flavoring. According to their web site all their BB bases are GF.

So far, from last year, and this week, gluten doesn't seem to be my main problem with life long IBS but to keep our lives simpler I'm strictly following GF. But there are other food triggers for sure. We had Bear Creek GF Broccoli/Cheese soup the other night and I had a major flare up within a few minutes of having it. Ate leftovers yesterday for lunch and same thing. The moment it hit my stomach I had reaction so need to see what ingredients are the trouble makers. Had the Tasty Bite Madras Lentils (a good chili substitute) last night with corn chips and shredded cheddar, and no problems so don't think corn has ever been an issue. (Rich sauces, most usually with red wine, most usually send me to the bathroom before dinner finished.) So far no cheeses, which we consume in great quantities, have ever caused issues, and I'm not lactose intolerant. We get the Madras Lentils at Costco in four packs. Good stuff as chili substitute and chile sauce substitute over other foods. It doesn't pass DH's chile requirements but great fast meal for me and I actually like it better than real chili. Tasty Bite Madras Lentils | Lentils, red beans and spices in a creamy tomato sauce.

Hugs, Feisty Alice

Another list of GF thickeners. http://everydayglutenfreefood.blogspot.com/p/thickeners.html

I think I may have found the culprit in the Cheese Broccoli soup. Last ingredients "yellow 5 and 6" food coloring. Not much of a stretch for me as some food colorings swell up my lips, mouth, tongue, throat, with blisters on lips. One sip of a certain color in some drinks and I get instant tiny blisters on my lips. It's usually the colors that aren't very dark. Interestingly the soup didn't irritate my lips so more investigation needed.

{edit} Interestingly since getting my teeth braces last spring, titanium, rarely known to cause reactions, my lips have stayed slightly swollen and irritated and always red and my mouth area reaction to food colorings has increased dramatically. I guess not so odd.... many years ago I rejected a silicon implant used for facial reconstruction. It just worked it's way out and fell into my hands a few days after surgery. Freaky.... so glad I never wanted or needed breast implants.

Evening everyone
Don't know if I can post this here, if not I apologise
My son was in the army for nearly 10 years
Served in the drum platoon, of the second battalion, of the royal regiment of fusiliers good friends with the soldier who was murdered on the street in London yesterday
Son is very upset, but my heart goes out to the young soldiers 2 year old son
The man killed served two tours of duty, in Afghanistan, unscathed, then to be murdered on the street, for no other reason, than that he served his country, is deplorable

Sashie and Harley05 - I am having trouble seeing pics too and now I can check my FF - Thanks! :D

Crocks have been my year round mainstay ever since they came out. I'm not going to disclose how many pairs I have. (a lot in reserve as not all styles are made for a long time.) Love my Crocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One of only a few shoes, many but not all styles, that don't cripple my cranky feet.

He was beheaded by muslim immigrants, with a meat cleaver, that were known for over a decade to the security forces there.
But when you fill a country with such people and they use their European right to a family life to avoid deportation for their crimes, as well as only criminals and armed police having guns, it ought to come as no surprise.

I am as horrified by it all as you are. There is no death penalty in the UK and most European countries. Apparently that is only for people going about their lawful business that are attacked by these lunatics.

I just found a recipe for a hard iced tea. I love the stuff! When I heard that Seagram's was discontinuing their Peach Tea Iced Tea Vodka, I bought 2 cases from the liquor store

Here is the recipe I just found, and would be making right this minute if I had any frozen lemonade:
Sweet Tea With Vodka and Lemonade Recipe

I actually didn't even know there was a sweet, mine just says "extra dry". I read a book by her at some time and I just remember she used vermouth?

ETA: and you might want to wait until it is done for the verdict, I have NO idea how this will turn out!

On occasion I go in to Dallas to buy the hard stuff, which means I'll be getting some things for cooking, I go to a big store where one of the "wine guys" helps me with spirits for cooking. I can't remember exactly but he has always asked me what I'm using it for. I haven't purchased any vermouth since Christmas but I'm sure a quick internet search will offer suggestions. After cooking I usually finish it off when I'm out of box wine. Seems I've mixed dry with OJ to make it more friendly. Probably any recipe calling for sweet vermouth can be supplemented with a little bit of sweetener of choice to make up for the sweetness. Seems like I've been steered to sweet for cooking.

I looked it up, it is a malt beverage at about 5% from what I read, so basically a beer. I make mine with vodka, so they are a bit more potent I think, but I drink less volume and can always adjust the etoh as needed

I didn't realize there was an actual company who bottle something by the name! I just thought it was a pseudonym for hard iced tea :)

Thats so sad and so wrong. My son was in the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment-Blackhorse serving in Afghanistan. The death of this brave soldier is a terrible thing I know from experience. The lost of this young man is senseless.

UPDATE on today's mystery recipe:

I checked it to season it after 5 hours, and it needed a bit more salt and pepper. But it was still missing "something" so I added a dash of Worcestershire, since that is sometimes used in the real dish. It added some depth.

It is very thin, and as Alice was saying, I may need to thicken it. Since it only has an hour or so to go, I won't be using flour unless I dirty up a pan to cook it, raw flour added with no time to cook would be nasty. I will have to use some cornstarch since it doesn't require cooking and can be done right before serving. Or maybe even better to use instant potatoes, those work very well to thicken and will go well with -- potatoes. I will wait for DH to get home from work to see what he thinks about the flavor and soupiness.

Stay tuned for the verdict from the men
