I certainly didn't plan it, and had no choice in the matter. I am just happy I didn't become addicted to the pain meds, it would have been very easy. The doctors were pretty liberal with them, and they were needed. The accident was in December of 2010 so that is a long time to be taking them. I just hate the side effects more than the pain sometimes, so just didn't move a lot (thus the weight gain). The good news is, the doctors say I am healed enough for the total knee replacement I still need
I think the hardest part was when "friends" stopped calling or coming by, I couldn't drive for a year when it was wired because I couldn't bend the leg. Ever try to drive a car with an extended leg? Then they started with the "shouldn't you be better by now?". Like I was doing something to extend my misery on purpose? The friends I have now are tried and true
The total knee replacement works fantastic and best of all the pain is GONE. I loved getting my 2 new knees and only stayed in the hospital 1 week. They had me up walking the next day. Then after 3 days did the other one. I am still amazed. If i would have my pelvic repaired then i would be able to walk without a limp and so much pain, but of course i just wanted to go home. I hate hospitals
The pelvic affects hips and backbones.
BTW look forward to a new beginning because it is the best...
yep. i used to stalk bad guys for a living, so i sometimes go outta my way to warn folks of online creepiness...

Unfortunately in my case it will only help with the trochlear groove which had the patella growing into it until the last surgery. I will still have all the scarring and ligament damage from the original injury. But any improvement is better then nothing. And they won't do it yet, they say they only last a decade or so, and apparently they feel my life expectancy will outlive the surgery. Maybe if I started smoking again they would reconsider?

That is different from mine but you are right it will be an improvement.
Maybe it is the shipping to Azzland that ups the cost?
I just paid about the same as Scott, maybe a little more, for 100 feet. But considering it will build a gazillion wicks... and the wick I have is well over a month old, I may never use 100 feet in my lifetime!
Anytime I ship something from overseas I am looking at $25 -$35 in postage.
What's worse is when I ship from australia to overseas, it can cost even more.

Yes, I shattered my left kneecap. The way they fix that is they wire it back together, but the wires were poking out and hitting a nerve on the underside of my skin, so they did a "revision". But then the wires poked out elsewhere, so I couldn't bend my leg for a year until they were able to take it out. Then it grew wrong, and developed a "kickstand" which grew into the groove where the kneecap was supposed to slide. That was the 4th surgery back in February. After all of that, it is a mess of scar tissue and painful with every step. It hurts on a good day, but is terrible on a bad day. And I gained a lot of weight since the accident from sitting on my .... all the time from the pain, which doesn't help out a bit
And that is how this RN was forced into early retirement. If you can't run, walk and bend you certainly can't nurse patients.
Which is probably a lot more than you were asking, but there it is.
I'm sorry to hear about this. How awful. Is a total knee replacement not possible?

Speaking of country life, we are pretty sure we have a bear or two tearing up my Mom & Sis's back porch at night. Gullible me almost ordered some of the dummy video cameras Dennis posted about yesterday. Read the whole ad, thinking that sure is cheap!

Almost computer safety literate. Learnt about painkillers, but names too difficult to remember. Scary, but beautiful pumpkin. Laughed a lot, saw lots of love and compassion. Eating brains, awgh! Cats and, as always, chickens (now in the pot as well) and socks!
