Top air attys would be a good solution, for those who carry mods around in their pocket, or are always tipping them. Unfortunately, there aren't many good ones. About the only ones I like are the Maker, Manta2, and the Thump. I didn't care much for the Rogue.
Been there, done that also... My experience was they were equally as leaky. :(

I will throw out there that I have been a Ready_X_Wick user for almost 3yrs now and that probably lends itself to part of the leaking experience as most people jam their atty's full of cotton and it acts as a shield to keep liquid from leaking out the AFC's whereas the RxW can't be that shield... The best thing, (s), I like about RxW is it will only absorb what it can absorb and the rest has to go somewhere, this is where the fully drainable atty comes in at or it will find its way to the AFC and all over the device and or myself, and I only have to wick my coils once every 6+ months or so. They can be dry burned with RxW in place...

Although with that said, I still can't figure out why the Stumpy leaked like a sieve and the O-16 doesn't!!!

I'm just complicated sometimes... The other times I'm confused...

Chrissy would say I am complicated 10% of the time and confused 90%. I tend to think it's closer to 50/50, :?:

What should I expect from an echidna though

Interesting. I have no idea why. But as I said before, I always set my mods down standing up. I have been known to over squonk, but that's just from being old and forgetful; user error. It's not often, but it happens.
I'm not a cotton stuffer. A lot of conventional drippers seem to do that. I trim my cotton wicks so that they just touch the base of the atty.

Yeah, squonkers aren't cotton stuffers. If they stuff I think they quickly learn not to.

I use Rayon, but I wick no differently than I ever did with cotton (except thicker in the coil). My wick barely touches the deck. In fact if anything, I thin my wick tails moreso than I ever did with cotton. I never really thinned my tails with cotton, just trimmed so they barely touched the deck. My rayon tails are thinned down to almost nothing coming out of the coil.

I don't know where the 'cotton stuffing' came about. Must be that conventional drippers are more concerned with the wicks holding lots of juice, so they don't have to drip as often, vs squonkers, who are more interested in fast replenishment.

The funniest part of that is, if not dripping as often is their goal, the perfect solution is *drum roll* squonking. :D

I agree. But squonking has always been a small 'niche' market. Up until fairly recently, about the only game in town was REOs. Meanwhile, conventional dripping attys are available everywhere. Squonking seems to be slowly gaining in popularity, because of some recent players in the game, both mechanical and regulated.

Prior to newer wicking that is available today I would have to disagree with you on this one... Have you looked through some old Reo threads lately? When everyone was using CVS cotton or just regular cotton balls, everything looked like it was stuffed to the max!!

You answered your own question in there for the 1st part but on the latter it is only the early squonkers that are interested in juice on demand. The newer squonkers of late could care less. They only seem to care that now they don't have anything in their opposite hand from the device.

You'd think that, right?

Slowly it is gaining in popularity, yes!! I just wish the atty's would progress with the trend instead of being stagnant. Atty's are still designed with drippers in mind and a BF pin thrown in only as an afterthought. This leads to the 1-5mm of feed pin and insulator sticking up over the bottom of the deck!!

The thing that is really troubling is there are now some that are putting RBA's on squonkers because its easier to refill it by having the bottle under the RBA and feed it from the bottom instead of having to take it off the device and take it apart to fill it...

I wick the same way. I use cotton, so just fill the coil & let wick touch the deck. No fluffing or shaping the wick. Kayfuns & bf drippers wick the same & vape great.
