We had a guest for the long weekend - his first time to the region, so we played tour guide. This included a lovely long (10-ish hour) kayak tour of a dozen small islands...

Just after noon, the bag holding both our vape setups went into the water. His 200W special came back out DOA, but my REO just needed a dry down, a battery swap (just to make sure), and a rewicking. Not to be that guy, I suggested we buddy-vape until we got home (he had his own dt).

Once home, I set him up with another of my grands and a goon (he be liking the big air, that boy). He could have easily bought a replacement mod, but stuck with the REO (just so we didn't have to make a trip to town for him, he said).

At first, it was "a loaner that would do in a pinch", then it was "a pretty good little setup", followed by "a darn fine vape" which segued to "really, really good - exceptional, even", ending in "where can I get this exact same setup?"

I smiled, texted him the deets for Rob's site and let him keep the setup for the trip home. Another convert.

This morning, he joined ECF just to get connected to some knowledgeable squonkers, so he'll most likely be a fixture in here at least until he gets his feet under him.

One "convert" at a time! Last morning I woke up so grateful that there is such a thing as a Reo and that I found it/me pretty early on in my vaping career.

@Rayonati Sloth! I hear your pain. Oh family......Just know you are literally hours away from freedom Have a safe and beautiful trip home.

I've typically gone the "authentic" route, outside of the RM 2 and 3's. I don't buy a gazillion of anything. I tend to like quality over quantity. Presently I have a couple RM2's and 3's, 3 O-16's and 1 Challice. I figure, if it's not my thing, I just re-sell like I did with an Odin a year or 2 back (and they hold their value).

I guess I'm a diehard dual coil guy. I own two of those 0-16's and I really tried to use them. I actually managed a set of small duals in one which was a PITA to do, but just doesn't have the air, volume and flavor of vapor for me. Single coils are too anemic for me. I might play with them a little more later to see if I can get something that will agree with me and my vape preference.

I run duals in 0-16's.
The wicking is critical to airflow - there's so little room, that if the wick obstructs the air movement, it's a much different vape. Go minimal, just to the deck, keep the airway clear, and you can get a much better draw. You just have to squonk like every puff...

I'll do that when I have time to mess with it. I think I put dual 2.5mm coils in it and it was pretty tight. Might have overdone the wicking possibly, too. It's just such a pain trying to put duals in one of those tiny atties.

I like a parallel z coil in the O16. Performance of a dual coil, occupancy of a single.
Good idea! I didn't even think of that. I used to run parallels all the time and they do perform really well. That's the next build I'll try on one of these. Thanks!

Bingo!

I have limited patience for the 'true' parallel build so I use twisted. Takes about 10 mins to make a six month supply of wire. I even twist by hand for 28g and higher. I find it suffers from less deflection than an untwisted parallel when mounting/futzing.

I've done Z, and done parallel - but I find it's easier (for me) to get what I like with duals sometimes.

It's having two wicks - getting more juice to the coil.
I like a pretty swampy vape - dense, warm, wet...:)

Sometimes, I get a single built just right - more often lately as I get better building my "single only" atties - NarDa, Hadaly, etc. But with TWO coils and wicks, it's more certain.

I hear you on this. Duals are like twin carbs on a hemi.

I generally use 3mm ID with a twisted to try and maximize surface contact with the wick and allow it a larger reservoir within the coil. I have a fair few atties that necessitate single coils, so I've got dialling a twister down pretty much pat. The trick for me is getting the right air onto it.
