Sorry....mega. ;)
Squonking - raise the e-liquid enough to cover the coil/ wick, then release and let the e-liquid recede back into the onboard bottle. Repeat after three of four firings of the coil.
After nearly four years I occasionally remove the drip tip and stare down into the RM2 (or whatever RBA I am using) and watch the juice rise and fall. That way I know the coils are wet.
Trust me, it was a lot trickier back when we all had atomizers and cartos sitting on top of our Reos. Especially at 75 mph. With 78,000 lbs. 500 miles from Home (and vaping supplies)

You will get the hang of it. Don't be afraid to ask questions, we are here to help.
Okay, that's what's happening for me. So, HALLELUJAH, I am doing it right!! First time for everything.:lol::lol:

When you squonk you want most of it to drain, you are just aiming to keep your wicking material wet. It's good atty design if excess liquid drains because then you are always getting fresh juice rather than having it pool and cook in the bottom of your atty.

That was a major reason why i moved away from tanks, because you are constantly cooking the juice and it turns into a brown sludge!

If your wicks are not holding enough liquid for the vape you like then that's an easy fix - use more :)

T
I have often thought about that brown sludge (OCD again).

THAT IS OK!
A little squonk, the juice goes up, it comes back down - but now, your WICK IS WET. And you can vape a couple/few puffs.
Then you do it all over again...
Depending on your wick and your atomizer and the kind of puff you take, you might get just one or 2 puffs and then squonk again...or you might get 6 or 7. But that's all there is to it - you are wetting the wick when you squonk - and the juice is supposed to drain back. You may be squonking more juice than you have to if you're thinking it's supposed to do more than that...
I think i get about 4 or so.

They leaked, always. Hence the need for a dripwell, which is redundant now. i hated those things - it was everything that was miserable about vaping; having to prime them, remember the Taryn spin?

T
I liked them because (for me) it just tasted better in a carto, well...until the coil got gunked up.
Then, definitely miserable.

You'll get the idea of squonking before long. I still over squonk or forget to squonk once in a while. We probably all do. I attribute it to old aged absent mindedness. Each atty will squonk a little different, depending on the size of the holes in the center pin, depth of the well in the atty, or type of wick, location of the air inlets, etc.
what I do is: Squonk the bottle, hold for a couple seconds, to allow the wicks to absorb the juice, and then release. The number of puffs, before needing to re squonk, will depend on your atty, vape style, and build.
I've probably been oversquonking. Yep, I'll get the hang of it. :)

I tilt toward where the wick is when I squonk, then hold back upright for the release :)
I was tilting "away" from the hole so it would stay in.
Learning curve.

Just a thought - Whatever RBA you are using ( I mostly use RM2's) make sure that your coil is elevated slightly. This will prevent e-liquid from clinging between the coil and deck. This would not only restrict the juice flow back into the on board bottle, but would also restrict the air flow around the coil. You want a clean air flow around your coil for maximum flavor and vapor production :thumb:
RM2, I did elevate the coil, just to keep it away from the posts, hadn't thought about flavor and vapor production.
Thanks!!

I've been known to squonk until juice comes out the air hole and stains the right pocket of my work shirt. Then I walk around smelling like candy. fruit, or pipe tobacco. o_O
Yep, my purse smells divine. :D

Yea, that would be bad. But what I want to know is how the ladies get it out of their pocketbooks/ purses. With the work shirt, Mamaw just washes it out.
I've never had anything leak in my purse. My extra juice bottle that I carry go in a small, maybe 3.5" x 3.5" zip lock, then in another small accessory zip bag. (back ups for back ups...)

THANK YOU ALL SO VERY MUCH!! I'm feeling a lot more confident now!!!

...I missed grabbing a quote...
I carry lipstick...if what makeup I put on in the morning doesn't last...so be it.
My bag already weighs a ton...not carrying all that stuff...besides, gotta have room for vape stuff.

Rayon gets a good press, silica depends on your tolerance of risk. i use silica but i smoked for 30 years, so i'm not scared by cotton-lung, silicosis or any of that old crap.

FWIW i stopped using cotton because one dry hit ruins a wick and it's just not that long lasting anyway. Being a lazy swine, far lazier than Dennis, i like to make some coils, wick them and use them for months and not have to fart about with them again.

Justice uses bamboo wicks which give him good flavour and last a while and i'm sure if you wanted to experiment with different wicking materials a few Reonauts would send you some.

Koh Gen Do Organic Japanese Cotton. No 'wet t-shirt' taste, great flavor.
Trunker super-heats his vaping (75 Watts ?!?). I usually stay around 10- 12 Watts. Dry hits are still nasty at 12 Watts, but at least my dry hits do not require assistance from the local Volunteer Fire Department ;)

i am so LOL just now, because it has just hammered with rain in a typical Texas mid-afternoon thunderstorm.

Yesterday the poor bugger across the road washed 2 cars and 2 big trucks as i sat outside (with my new sunhat) smiling.

Amateurs.

The thing about a 70 watt vape - and it really is just about all you can do on a single battery, is that you don't have to do that all the time...
A one second drag and i can be quite happy. I'm not cloud-hound all the time - but it's nice to rip them out when you like.

Fire Brigade gave up on me and made me buy a permit that allows me 3 calls a year.

Well, I'd like to be relatively safe.
Maybe I missed some threads/articles/posts, but it's my understanding that as long as you keep silica moist, and dampen it when coiling/cutting, the risk is minimal.
Did I miss something otherwise?

But yes, like you, I smoked for 30 years, I grew up in asbestos filled schools and buildings...lead painted playgrounds...I've had more than a few diet cokes in my lifetime, fake butter, antibiotics filled chicken, and other meats. I eat the burnt parts on grilled foods...and I eat at McDonald's more than I care to admit.

However, I have in the past several years, tried to change most of the above. I'll still eat the burnt (caramelized) parts of grilled food til the day I die though. :D

I'm most definitely a lazy vaper, well...lazy, and just busy.
Working, cleaning, cooking, laundry...coils and DIY are sometimes a pain to try to work into the rotation...preaching to the choir, I'm sure...but I'll do it, no sweat...I don't ever want to go back to smoking if I have another alternative. :)

I'll play around with some different wicking.
Thanks for the input!!

That's a great tag line for someone to "place" in marketing.

@LoriP1702 practice makes perfect. I went topless on the RM2 for a bit just so I could see what was going on a few times. It helped. Try little tweaks here and there in builds and before long you will find the promised land.

i like you Classy, so i have no comment to make about your handbag.

HRH was going down that route but bought gnocchi instead of Gucci. $200 for some pasta - have you lost your mind?

Mines been topless more that it's had it's top on.:lol::lol: :D
I'm sure I'll get there.

I may be odd...but I wash out the insides of my purses, I can't stand to see a spot on the liner !
If you're odd, I'm odd too. Can't stand a spot either. I think washing the insides is completely normal. :)

I'd never seen or heard of Brahmin. (I don't get out much. I detest shopping.)
Those are nice!! Dooneys are very nice ones too.
I always liked "Fossil", until they started turning out stuff that looked like an old lady would carry. :(

Good morning Reonauts. Having some coffee and watching the coverage of the tragic multiple shootings in Orlando, last night. Terrible!
Last night watched some of the new 'Roots'. It's very good. I'm old enough to remember the original.
oh no........didn't hear about that. How horrible!

it was everything that was miserable about vaping; having to prime them, remember the Taryn spin?
wasn't using Reos then, but hated cartos and definitely remember the Taryn spin although I only tried it once.

I still over squonk or forget to squonk once in a while. We probably all do.
Ha........I forget to squonk. I'll start to vape, realize it's a bit dry, stop. In the second or two that it takes for the coil to cool off, I've forgotten I need to squonk. Bad part is, I'll often do this 2-3 times in a row. Newp still dry......squonk dummy!

Yea, that would be bad. But what I want to know is how the ladies get it out of their pocketbooks/ purses. With the work shirt, Mamaw just washes it out.
I don't go out much so rarely put my Reo in my purse, but when I do it goes in a small zippered part that makes it stand straight up

However, I have in the past several years, tried to change most of the above. I'll still eat the burnt (caramelized) parts of grilled food til the day I die though. :D
oh heck yeah! That's the best part. But McD's will kill ya

wow......this is very similar to what my "purse" looks like........nephew gave it to me cuz he wasn't using it.
