Couldn't read the box - is that the authentic, or a chinese clone?
Well, not a family pic but I did buy one of these today:

Every time I think of the FDA I just poosh the button and it makes me giggle. Seems appropriate somehow. It's soooo tacky.

(And it was free, considering I got a gift card for the full price paid in the form of an instant rebate. That seemed somehow appropriate too...)

Hi All!

I have some questions for REOville - here is a bit of back story:

I have a few mods...REOs (of course), Billet Boxes and Provaris. They are all work horses and while none of them are inexpensive, I rarely worry about a malfunction or breakage of any kind. I am a sucker for good design and feel these mods have all been good investments.

But, I am always impressed with how simple the REOs are to use. There is very little to fiddle with and as a frequent airline traveler, they are fantastic! I can keep a bottle half full, pop in a battery when I land and off, I go. Big plus to me!

Yet, I do sometimes like variety and admit to being tempted by bright, new, shiny objects - hence some of the other mods in my collection. At the same time, however, I love simplicity in my life and am a complete minimalist by nature.

Now, finally...my questions - How many of you have found yourself in a similar situation and do you now vape only REOs? How was the transition? Any recommendations or input for trying to go just the REO route? If you have other mods, what purpose do they serve?

Thanks, gang and my apologies for the long post!

Yep, I'm in the same boat. I'm a notorious pack rat. I never got into the 'buy and sell' thing with vape gear or anything else. All I've used, for the past 2 years, is REOs. But I have a shelf full of various tube mods, mostly authentic European stuff; and a box full of attys, conventional drip pets, genisis types, etc.

Welcome Kh888, RedhatPat here. First off, welcome to REOville! Ya gave me some dejavu...

From Giojack May 1st 2013 in a pm to me when I asked similar question, brother.

"Obviously my preference are the RSM's, even over the Reos when it comes to vaping pleasure but I still use the Reos for two reasons, number one, I like Rob and I want to support him and number 2, when I'm out and about I know my metal mods will take whatever abuse I can throw at them. I wouldn't want a RSM to be my only mod because they're wood but for the kind of vape I enjoy the most I wouldn't want my only mod to be a Reo either, even the VV, it just doesn't put out the kind of power I sometimes like to vape at. For me each mod has its place depending on what I want at the moment.

Okay, I know this hasn't been of any help to you but there are no definitive answers to subjective questions... it's just what makes you feel best physically and emotionally and only you can answer that. Good luck, young'un, I've spent a .... load of money finding the two different mods that fit all my needs."

Nice!! Looks like ya need 1 more grand though!
Actually, they look quite balanced to me. However, I still really, really want a blue Mini!
Focus on something positive darlin........it's always there no matter how bad things seem :)
I'm thankful for air conditioning. Very, very thankful! Sometimes I'm particularly thankful for being able to have a b.m. Does that count?

I would hate to have only one type of mod. Just like I would hate having only one color. A big part of why vaping works is that it's fun!

@Kh888. Rock whatever works for you. If I could pick only one it's my REO Grand with the Chalice III. I also love my Provari Radius and the various Kayfuns I have. Simplification in life is good but don't limit yourself too much.
I totally agree Mike, my fav setup is my white Grand SL/LP w/ chalice 3

Hey Kori, good to see you here in the lounge... In my opinion, as long as you stay off the stinkies and whatever works for you...keep working it. As most know, I got my first grand a year ago this past February and haven't looked back. Everything else I had was rendered obsolete and was either sold, given away, or thrown away... I only have 2 grands in my arsenal as that is all I have needed. I only vape 1 type of juice and that is now down to 0mg and only go through maybe 5-8ml per day anymore, but I personally couldn't see doing it in anything but a Reo Grand... I have made a few changes to both of my grands and that has made all the difference in the world to me. Not that the Reo Grand needed any changes, it was just something I felt a need to do myself... Now I have a couple supercharged grands that has as good if not better voltage drop, (.18), than any of the $400+ devices on the market today. They are very efficient and has changed my vaping habit very much. Instead of vaping in the .2Ω range today, I am in the .5Ω range. There is no lag at all in ramp up and best of all, no more arcing!! It wasn't cheap to do, but it was a "WHOLE" lot less than spending $400+ to get the vape I have today. Best of all is I get to vape a Reo Grand...EVERYDAY ALL DAY LONG!!!:headbang:

eta... My grands have been dropped off the roof line of a couple houses, dropped getting out of the car, fell off the table several times, left out in the rain overnight, dropped on concrete, asphalt, and gravel and vape and look great... One of mine was even dropped while mowing the grass, ran over and spit out about 7-10 feet from the mower deck. I walked over to it, picked it up to inspect the few gouges it had in it and proceeded to squonk and vape it!!!!! Not many devices out there today that will do that. I'll take a Reo Grand over any device out there today because of what mine have been through...:vapor:

You know I refer to you as my personal REO Yoda, right? So glad you took the time to reply!

May I ask what changes you made? I have had great luck with taking your suggestions. Good to see you, too!

Wow! From smoking stinkies to 0mg vaping, how bout that!!! I stopped dipping about 2 cans of snuff a day and switched to 18mg vaping and now I'm down to 3mg!! Glad to see that this thing is working for other people and they are loving it as much as I do!!!!
Whats the lowest that you guys build on a reo? I have like a .3 build right now and its RIPPING haha. Just wanna throw a quad coil in my velocity and see what it does, but dont wanna blow the thing up.

I don't know what the low limit is. I'm currently running ss coils, which have a cold resistance of about .3 ohms. But the resistance of ss coils increases as they heat up. I do know of people who run .3 ohm kanthal coils with no problem.

How do you like the SS coils? What type of wire are you using? Thank you!

I am using 316L in various gauges, depending what I'm building. In my Stumpys and Makers, I'm using 24g 'Z' coils. In attys where I'm running dual coils, I'm using either 26g or 28g, depending on the atty.
I like 316L ss a lot. It's very smooth, because of the resistance rise, as the coils heat up. Consequently, I build somewhat lower cold resistance than I build with kanthal. With kanthal, I usually shoot for around .4 ohms. With the ss, I shoot for about .3 ohms.
