i've vaped sub-Ohm for years and it's one of the reasons i can now use no nicotine. Just make sure you get good batteries.

If you were starting in temperature control and all that, you'll not be using a mech like a Reo anyway; you'll be using something with electronics and there are tons of them out there for not a lot of coin.

It's fun experimenting with new stuff. You learn something everytime and you might just find something that vapes better than what you have, or a way to make what you have better.

You know Jim, I once heard from a very well informed british man I knew livin' in Texas that it's not just about what you're correctly saying, aka. the mechanism, it also involes the juice ! ...first rule of thumb: "keep it wet". Wet things don't become airborne. Many cigarette companies use cotton for the filter. Fun fact...years and years ago , Kent cigarettes came up with the "MicroFilter". They actually used asbestos to make it. So far, I've never heard of someone who quit smoking because the filter was dangerous. It's just a taste thing.

The whole premise of temperature control is to avoid dry hits - there's no other reason to use it.

When we used cotton wicks in mechanical mods it was pretty easy to figure out when you'd overdone it, because the wick burned in half!:w00t:

hiya SuperT :D and good evening all,

I heard a lot about burnt wicks back in the old REO lounge days and that turned me off to the whole RBA thing.

But new toyitis has been tempting me ... I might try an RTA with disposable attys and an inexpensive TC mod just to give it a try. ;)

Right now, I'm a vaping my VV at 4.9 or 5 volts with a standard 3ohm resistance cartomizer - I have no idea what that translates into in a sub-ohm/wattage device. I've looked at several charts, but I haven't been able to decipher an answer.:?:

Now, finally...my questions - How many of you have found yourself in a similar situation and do you now vape only REOs? How was the transition? Any recommendations or input for trying to go just the REO route? If you have other mods, what purpose do they serve?

I've still got 3 more pages to catch up on.....but definitely 2nd what Rule was saying about the SS316L wire! @Robinowitz sent me a some to try........and I am hooked!!! ( Robin and many many thanks!) I was never able to sub ohm with kanthal. It was too hot and too harsh for me, so I did duals that netted 1.3 ohms. With the SS wire, I was shooting for 1 ohm, but my brain went stupid on me and I ended up with half that. Decided to try them anyhow in my Rm8 (derringer clone) and omggggggg it wasn't hot, wasn't harsh, and now I am tasting flavors in my juices that I never tasted before. As to the Reo, I never used high end mods...... but like muzichead I got my first Reo a year ago this past Feb, and have had no real desire to vape anything else!! Reo, Rm8, SS wire, new easy squeeze bottles........I am completely satisfied.......and I know that these mods will last longer than I will. They're completely self sustainable i.e. FDA proof! I don't have to worry about tanks breaking......buying coils that may not be available, and it's still the best vape I've ever had! I had a 5 month period where I couldn't buy any vape stuff. With my Reos and DIY supplies........I had everything I needed!! I didn't do without anything. A friend is sending me a provari to try, so I did get a Merlin tank. But I can't imagine the vape will even come close to beating my Reos.

I'm thankful for air conditioning. Very, very thankful! Sometimes I'm particularly thankful for being able to have a b.m. Does that count?
Absolutely it counts!! When I was in a deep depression many years ago, I made myself come up with ONE thing each day, that I was truly grateful for. When I started my first 3 things were flush toilets, hot indoor showers, and that I could buy chicken at the store, and didn't have to catch it, kill it, gut it, pluck it etc. When I began to truly be thankful for those things, or whatever I could find (and for me, truly praising God for 1 thing a day)........it began changing my perspective. As my outlook changed, finding things to be truly grateful for came much easier. Still took two years and a lot of prayer and teaching myself to focus on positive, rather than negative, but I was able to pull myself up from a very dark bad place.

focus, focus, FOCUS

...I'm hungry now
wasn't there a sign that said NO FEEDING THE ADMINS :D

Ever have a gut feeling?
Jup! But always try to give benefit of the doubt.

Any word on if the counterfeit LG HG2's (thats the brown one, right?)are still making their rounds? Maybe someone could shed some light on what to look for between authentic vs dangerous.
According to a thread mooch was on talking about em, the grooves on the white insulator, and see if you can lift it up a bit, the fakes are glued down. Mooch said the most definitive way was to vape 50 watts + and see if it performs to expectations. I don't vape at 50 watts, but mine have done well at 30 watts-ish

Good grief! I hope I don't start looking like my dogs. I have 7 of the critters.

That works out to just over 8 watts. So about 1.8 ohms with a single battery in a Reo.

If the spring is designed - on purpose - to pancake and break the connection in less than a split second if a short occurs... then what else is it?

@Rickajho Honest question deserves an honest answer so it's not taken out of context, all things being equal -- I know what you're getting at -- I'll let supertrunker or anyone smarter than (or better memory) to explain to you 'n the rest of REOville who ain't in the know.

Your friend 'til the end,

RhP
