I can't wait for this heat wave to be over too! Upwards of 90 degrees all week with high humidity! Thank all goodness for AC!

Debit card hacked for just under a 1k overnight. 9 separate transactions to the same online merchant within minutes. Amex would have halted that. Squonking a little extra today.
I have always been nervous about using a debit card online, I had to at Robs site, and one other. I just recently got a new master card, so I would not have to use it any more. I feel like I trust using a credit card more for online purchases, than a debit card. I had my Discover card hacked 4 times within 3 months, it never cost me a penny. I ended up buying a new computer, and it all stopped, I think I was a victim of Malware. I hope that it does not cost you anything as well.

My P67 has to go on vacation, to ME. It won't fire. Not with a fresh battery, a different atty, nothin. It looks like the button is causing the little striker plate to move, but nothing happens. The spring is fine (tho I noticed that the itty little screw next to the spring just sticks up - is that the norm?). I can't imagine what happened. Yesterday, it fired intermittently; today, not at all.
There should be a way to figure this out without a trip to Maine. The grub screw is still in the 510, right? I've heard of them falling out. OR...the safety piece that slides over to disengage the battery didn't accidentally get slid over, did it? OR?..if it was firing intermittently yesterday, maybe the pos. contact needs to be cleaned and Deoxit applied? There are only a few things that could go wrong. I'll bet collectively we could troubleshoot this and figure it out. OR....you could call Rob and talk to him. Maybe he could figure it out over the phone...?? I'm not trying to tell you what to do, or second guess you, but it just seems like we could figure this out. I'd sure hate to do without my P67 for a week....

Yes, a bit of the threads on the spring screw stick up a little farther on the P67 than on the Grand, because the base of the P67 under the battery is a little thinner. As long as the spring screw is tight, that wouldn't be your problem.
If the striker plate is moving when you press the button, it sounds like the striker plate is loose. You can pull the tube off, and using a pair of pliers, tighten up the nipple that the tube slides onto. That will tighten up the striker plate.
I've had intermittent firing on a Woodvil (same basic firing button). That connection point gets the occasional swipe with paper towel wet with DeOxIt, and a little scrap stuck there - and interrupted the connection.
Something like that - or a missing positive pin in the 510 are worth checking...

I've done the same thing. I've left a bit of paper towel in between the firing pin and the strike plate in my Woodvils. The method I use now, I learned from one of Rob's videos. I bought a roll of cloth adhesive first aid tape. Cut a small piece, and fold it in half, sticky side to sticky side. Dip it in some alcohol, and slide the piece in between the firing pin and the strike plate. Press the button, and slide the piece of tape out. A couple swipes, and the firing mechanism is clean. Follow up with a bit of Deoxit Gold.
Of course, this is done with the battery removed.

Like Rule said, take the tube off and twist the nipple with needle nose pliars. That is what holds the striker in position. Make sure the striker is perpendicular to the button or you will get intermittent firing or worse, constant firing. Ive had this happen to my woodvil. Freaked me out til I remembered to pull the battery.
Help!! I bought a couple of used RM2's....the screws are locked in tight and I can't turn them. I've got a major blister forming in my hand from applying pressure to the screw driver, they're frozen and I'm afraid of stripping the tops of them making it impossible to move or remove them. Anybody know how to deal with this? Obviously WD40 is out of the question....don't want anything toxic on my atty....
I would try to stick the bases in the freezer, not to freeze it-just to get it cold then heat a screwdriver head and try again. hopefully the temp difference will release the threads. also, try wrapping a thick rubber band around the screwdriver, (broccoli rubber bands always get saved around my place) it'll help give you a better grip and saves your fingers. In addition to what TwistedThrotle said with which I agree, you might try, very carefully, using a pair of needle nose pliers gripping the screw head and twisting left. I had the same problem with a new RM2 and was able to loosen mine without damaging the screw or screw inset.
i've always recommended using a prepaid debit card for internet purchases, because that way any fraud cannot make a run on you current account.
Credit cards are a better idea still and offer decent levels of protection, but not everyone wants a credit card and even i only have one.
As for the RM2, i'd soak it in WD40 and see what happened. Obviously you'd have to clean it thoroughly after, but you ought to be doing that with any atty you get anyway.

Like others have mentioned, I personally know that Discover and Bank of America are on top of it.
We've had our credit cards hacked/numbers stolen, whatever they did.
One even had an actual Discover card. Not one of our cards, one that had been falsely made with our cc number.
We've never had to pay.
