Quite happy wif the VV Reo. It's not LP, and I currently only have cartos that will work with it. Suggestions for a decent Atty (without spending an arm and a leg)?

I'm all over the board - sometimes tootle, sometimes Womper. The cartos are ok, but I'd rather have rebuildable with a bit more airflow.

The only atty's Rob has anymore that will fit the standard profile are the Chalice, RM3, and the RM2. You'd have to pm or call him to have the LP RM2 machined to work on the standard profile though...

Better keep an eye on the classifieds then. I don't know what you will find in a BF atty for that VV Reo for less than $45.00.

If you give the mod a haircut - basically grinding down the juice well, then anything with a 510 connection will fit.
It's a worthwhile process if you use bigger atties. Reos are sold with that already done, called LP - Low Profile devices, but the vv Grands preceded this trend, so you'd have to do it yourself or send it in to Rob to have him do it.
The good news is that it's not difficult to do and aluminium is a soft metal. My long suffering Grand was given a haircut by pushing it against a belt sander and i run Velocity or Dark Horse atties on it.

I'm a cheapskate also. That's why I now only have REO's with RM2's(6). I quit buying all the latest and greatest that seemed to let me down in one way or the other. So in the long run I'm saving money. Yes it was a somewhat large outlay for the devices, extra RM2's, and enough parts to rebuild them multiple times over, but compared to what I used to spend on smokes it's just a drop in the bucket.
Did I mention these are the least fiddly device that I've ever owned? I HATE fiddly. The twisted 32 coils lasts for months and months and the cotton yarn wick gets changed every couple of weeks. I vape unflavored.
I also like the fact that when you call, you get the owner, Rob. Not some switchboard lady or recording that keeps sending you in circles in hopes that you may get to speak to someone.

The catch cup should only allows 14mm atties and is the same diameter as the vv woodvil, or any pre 2015 woodvil. Any 14mm atties will do, but if you choose to go with a RM2 from Robs site(highly suggested) get the standard and not the LP version. The chalice III is also 14 mm and my fovorite flavor attie but a little spendy unless you find a deal on the classies. You can get your vv grand milled down to LP to allow bigger atties, but keep in mind, you still only have 15 watts to play with, the bigger the chamber in the attie, the more power required to satisfy. Other 14 mm atties are the divo, the era, the hornet, the cyclone(original cap, not afc), no name has a few, I've got the one called again but there's the no fear, again and unlimited, and I believe the RM3 is also small enough to work in the standard catch cups, not sure tho- I don't have that one. You'll need to use a coil wrapping calculator and know ohms law, but basically, don't build below 1.7ohms in order to keep it under 15 watts. Sadly, some of these atties are very difficult to track down. I have the ones listed and can say, for the price and ease of build, it's tough to beat a RM2.

What I vape gunks coils like nobody's business, I find I prefer a fresh one almost everyday, so I have 5 now.
They just arrived this past week, and the plan is to build them on the weekends and have them ready to swap out each day. Course it takes no time to build, so having the 5 is kind of overkill, but...hey...doomsday and all.

As single coil atties, i think the RM2's are unbeatable and i once had 14 of them. But if you want dual coils and all that jazz then it makes sense to LP your device just because of all the possibilities it opens up.

Here is a video of the process. Easy as pie. I bent a nail into a hook that goes into my drill. I spool off a 6' piece of wire, fold it, then twist. This process also greatly strengthens the 32 guage wire. I've never had one of these setups to self destruct.
Yes, I dry burn the coils every 2 weeks when changing my wick out. No problems at all.
supertrunker, the monthly bill for me and the wife was a tad over 600 a month. Mine alone was about 450. Keep in mind that I was smoking 3 1/2 packs a day. Yea, you read that right. If I was going to a party I could easily knock down a half carton.
Very good advice right here... Also keep in mind if you give it a haircut and go to a bigger atty and feed it the wrong build and blow the chip in it, that is it... That chip can't be replaced and the only thing that can be done is the mechanical conversion that Rob has offered in the past. There have been a couple people that have installed DNA's in the VV Grands, but space is very limited and it takes someone very talented to do that.
eta... My monthly consumption on analogs was well over $300 by myself alone... That was the major factor of me turning to vaping.

In just over 5yrs I've not smoked 6769 packs of smokes(Over $30,000.00). That's why the powers to be are having a fit about vaping.
Agree in almost every way. On this particular device, it's not the catch cup that's the restrictive component, it has a 15 watt cutoff so dual coils would kinda feel anemic, imo. If you send it in for a hair cut, you might find the rm2 (this time, LP would fit better) is still your best option with a single 1.7ohm coil. For duals, you might have a better experience with a non vv reo. That way, you rely on the battery for your limits and not a 15 watt board that if you break, it's off to the spa to see if the modfather can convert it to full mech, then you can run duals all day long!The cigarette bill for my wife and i was $400 a month
