Robinowitz, I double checked my link. It doesn't say NR R, but it says lead wires with Kanthal in the center. That's them. They are not the "long" wires that Yankee said were funky.

Honestly, I have had more trouble with the Sophia than I have any other atty I own. I think it is because there are so many variables at play. I think that I finally got her working right just this evening.

I have a ton of these wires in various resistances. If you'll PM me your addy, and let me know what resistance(s) you would like to try, I'd be glad to pop a few in the mail for you.

Akdare Thank you for your kindness, knowledge and generosity! I PM'd you. I so want to figure the Sophia out. I've made some strides. No more gurgling and leaking. Some of my learning curve has been around the SnP tank and Hippo v2. Think I've figured out the tank (thanks to this thread!!) but the jury is still out on the Hippo and me. It took about a week for the orings to get lubricated enough for the Sophia to turn without disconnecting from the 510 connection (I also replaced the 2 brown orings in the tip with the one that came with Sophia). Today, I will try her with a "friendlier" juice. Even though it's 70 vg, I have lots of experience with it "eating most attys." Perhaps it's the clove in it? But I LOVE it. Luckily, I'm not alone and I do have tenacity! I really like the company, great customer service and the threads. good day all!

So glad you got yours to work last evening and that the good news is continuing. Any idea what you did differently? I try to remember what worked when it's vaping well but sometimes I think I just get lucky and accidentally stumble onto something. Earlier today, I had a mess. Got out my miner's flashlight, unscrewed, screwed in, tinkered, closed the major AF 1/2 way and now perfection.....more will be revealed..

PM answered. I used to smoke Djarums in college...a REALLY long time ago...have you found a good clove juice? I tried Kretek from ECBlends, and it was not anything like Djarums.

Yeah, I tend to like big flavor (previous menthol smoker). The eliquid is called Darjim Black Clove w/ WTA from Aroma (they also have a Clove (without WTA) which I haven't tried. Their juices are really good IMHO and the WTA really helps to "scratch the itch" that satisfies me. Great company, thread, etc. The Darjim is not for the faint of heart, but if you loved clove cigs., it's really good.

Just checked out their website...minimum nic is 12mg...I've already dropped to 6mg...guess my quest will continue...

One can always mix with a zero Nic eliquid. I hear you, I'm at 12mg and I had a ton of other eliquida on hand when I found them. I'm a pro at mixing now.

I got some samples from Ahlusion recently as they were highly respected by my peeps on these threads. Since we were talking about clove cigarettes, I decided the first one I'd try was Chai Latte. OMG. Amazing. Just like a really good chai from an authentic Indian restaurant...

Well my Sophia has been shipped. 3+ days and of course no movement on the tracker. Think I need to just forget about her for a few weeks and then be surprised when she finally shows up.

you can use the tracking number on the usps website, and when it hits the states, it will track it.

Which site are you using to track your shipment? 17Track usually doesn't update status on the weekend. :glare: If you haven't already done so, try checking status @ TrackIt. Hopefully, TrackIt will show that AMU has sent it to the US.

It's actually an interesting test. The bulk of my order was placed on the 'ByLeo' website, and 4 minutes later I placed an order on the 'GreekVapes' website for the items I wanted that were out of stock on Billy's site.

ByLeo sent the order has shipped email some 20 hours sooner than GreekVapes did.
The ByLeo tracking number shows 'Kentpo' on both trackers, the GreekVapes tracking number doesn't show yet on either.

So, it'll be fun to watch this and see how far apart they are by the time they get to Ohio.
Started 4 minutes apart.
Shipped email 20 hours apart.

I also stopped running the silica all the way down the channels. It's not necessary. I just trim the wick close to the ceramic cup. No dry-hits, flooding, leaks, or gurgles. The juice has a straight-shot directly to the top wicking. The air pressure in the tank, along with drawing to vape, pulls plenty of juice up until the tank is empty.

Thanks for this. I have been tweaking my setup for the last two weeks or so and have finally got an extremely satisfying vape out of the Sophia with the standard setup. However, I've noticed that I get dry hits on the second pull, on a regular basis, as if it's not wicking fast enough and trimming the wicks in this manner seems to have resolved it completely.

I did this a few minutes ago and went through the last quarter tank in this way.

I'll run a couple of more tanks through it just to be sure but it sure is looking good at the moment!

So how close to the ceramic cup slots are you cutting it, how much wick is protruding ? A picture would be great :)

I'm cutting it very close. I think there's about 1 - 1.5mm sticking out from the cup.

I don't know why this works for faster wicking, as it seems a bit counter-intuitive, but it works better than using the stock coils with the wick running all the way down the channels. In a few minutes I'm going to take a break (should be working!) and chain vape half my slim tank and see what that's like.

When I wrap my own coils I can't seem to get my ceramic cup to sit very far down in the base. I will try this technique tonight with my own wrap. If it's successful there, too, I'll post a pic but it looks almost exactly like cranko's picture post on page3 of this thread. I may have my wicks 1mm longer than that ...

Wow... okay. I just vaped the entire tank. 105 good, long (I normally have a 4-6 second draw) puffs by my puff counter. Not a dry hit to be had and this green apple is one of my more delicately-flavored juices. I did notice some muting of the flavor when I took really big drags and followed it with another, but leaving it for a couple of seconds between puffs fixed that right up.

I'm guessing this wicks faster by capillary action; similar to some of the simpler, but effective, alcohol stove designs.

I only hope this can work with my ready wires (which, apparently, have thicker NR leads) and the higher cup position it makes because I can't seat it further down. If not, I'll be forced to get the zapper I've been trying to avoid getting all this time. =P

Ok thanks very much I had not seen that picture ,I am going to try that. How open do you have your juice control when the wicks are that short?

I gauge the flow control by the amount of the "circle" port is exposed. I generally have been opening it up so a third, to a half, is showing. I rarely go over that. I use 50/50 liquid almost exclusively.
