LOL, when are people going to learn that you are only truly cool when you don't care what others think.

So true... :)

I don't know if this comes with age... I'm 43 now, and maybe past 35 I stopped caring.

My first e-cig was a long pen-style, with that ridiculous red led. That was when I was 38. I was the ONLY vaper 'in the wild', that I could see around me... Did I care about 'what others think'...? Nope... :)

(Well, on a second thought, maybe just a little... I remember using it like a pipe, with the tip in the palm of my hand, just to hide that freaking red light! I mean, I thought it was ridiculous... like having a taser gun with a recorded gunshot, or something like that. :D )

The ecigs with the light i find do look ridiculous but each to their own. What ever works to get off the analogs.

I don't think so :) My gift to her is demonstrating to her that she doesn't have to be slave to cigarettes. If she don't want to jump on the opportunity, it's her loss. I like her, but I ain't buying her vaping equipment. I'm not Mother Theresa.

If you really think that snarky she shot you was due to marketing, at the very least you might want to buy a cheap disposable, put a sticky note on it that reads "all the cool kids are doing it" and drop it in her desk drawer or something. It would be worth it (to me anyway) just to see if she bites.

Heh, my old man's a little bit like that.
He's using a pair of eGo's 90% of the day, but in the morning and in the evening he'll have a cigar with coffe/brandy respectively to the time of day. 'The e-cigs won't kill me fast enough', he muses.
I know it's an ironic comment, but it's of the same 'Don't care' mentality as the OP's co-worker, which is hard to die out for older smokers. Mind you, I'm quite happy he's given up cigars/cigarettes throughout the rest of the day, it's definately an improvement.

Like a lot of the people in the thread, I think you should gift her with a disposable or a cig-a-like. She might like it, and it looks a lot like the real thing!

My mother in law is around 10 years older then your coworker. I started her on ego style batteries, but she barely used them I think because she was embarrassed to be seen with them, or when my father in law remembered that she wasn't supposed to be smoking anymore due to her macular degeneration (he suffers from dementia, and he'll forget about it most of the time). I wound up taking advantage of a grand opening sale for an online ecig company who was giving away free starter kits with the purchase of some e liquids. Got her an Innokin AIO 510 cigalike kit and some very cheap, cigarette flavored e liquid. She's finally using it more often.

The very few cigars he has will not do the magnitude of damage that using them all the time would surely do. I may get flamed, so be it. He's happy and tons, TONS healthier with using the ecig 90% of the time. Let him have his couple of cigars :)

I have to admit, I do think that the Ego style batteries do look a little stupid (even though I did own one in the beginning), but the mechanical mods with Regulated mods with RDA and RBA's, I think look really cool.

Although I would never tell anyone they look stupid with their Ego, because that would be hypocritical on my part, and also they might think I look stupid with my Mechanical and RDA

To each thier own

It's one's life. How one chooses to live it should not be of anyone's concern except that person and their immediate family. Sure be free to comment on your concerns but to drag them through the mud and judge them is terrible.

How do you know it's smoking? Most likely they have other health issues that smoking just compounds the effect of.

Sometimes it takes harsh judgment, for someone to realize the truth. As Harsh as that may sound, It benefits the person in the long run.

For example I used to be 210lbs, pretty ripped, went to the gym 4-6 hours a day. Then I met my girlfriend now about 4 years ago and I stopped working out, and how do you say "Let myself go".

I didn't realize how bad my health actually got until I ran into an old friend I have not seen in years and he said "Man you got fat". Now that comment did hurt, but I realized HE WAS RIGHT, I had gained 40lbs (not muscle).

His comment no matter how bad it hurt HELPED ME by making me realize I had let myself go, therefore I lost weight and improved my health, therefore helping me in the long run, because if he wouldn't have said that I would have went on and probably put on 80lbs or more.

Ah YES! The sheer frustration at trying to convince stubborn smokers to at least consider a viable alternative to the stinkies!:

As an addicted smoker, I, too had all the answers to everyone that would dare to suggest that the ciggies were bad for me, that I should quit, that they smell bad, etc., etc., etc.! I had a proper snarky retort for EVERY single one of them!! I marvel now that I am trying to get my younger brother to give ecigs a whirl, that he sounds exactly like I did not so long ago! He has many of the same snarky replies that I did. VERY, VERY frustrating!!!

I am coming up on a year of vaping, and I have gradually weaned myself down to 0 nic. I will respectfully vape anywhere and everywhere that is acceptable, in front of any audience. I could care less who is watching or what their opinions may be.

I think that your example by your actions are the best answer for the most stubborn smokers, and a suggestion of some type, that when they are ready to try quitting, that ecigs are a terrific option. When asked by anyone, I simply state that I had no idea that after many years of smoking and many wasted dollars, quitting could now be so relatively easy and painless (and tasty!), and that it is never too late. If I can do it, absolutely anybody on earth can do it.

Oh, no reason to flame, I'm in absoloute agreement with you. Old habits die hard. It's much prefferable like this than smoking cigars all day :p

I've been fortunate enough to help some pretty hard-core smokers enter the world of vaping. Each had their own way of entering. One had to start with the cig-a-likes. The others were ready for eGo's right off the bat. I just recently gave a cheap eGo kit to a lady who couldn't afford one and she started to cry because she wasn't able to get one for herself and really needed to quit but just didn't have the funds to do it. I love helping people and I will continue to do so no matter how tedious it may be. I won't push them by any means cuz' I wouldn't want to be pushed. Just use a gentle hand and who knows where it'll lead..... :vapor:

Yeah I know what you mean :)......My sisters Boyfriend and her can't afford stuff for vaping, so I supply him with all the E-juice he needs and gave him a little CE5 - Ego battery.

But, Somehow they were able to afford a PAD smoking habit????

Cheap disposables, cigalikes and cheap eGo kits that every tobacconist and their dog carry, are a surefire way to turn someone away from vaping. These things are crap, and do nothing to demonstrate how pleasurable vaping can be in its own right.

Me, I started with a Joyetech eRoll. In retrospect, it was pretty shite, but I had paid for it and I firmly intended to get my money's worth. That's why I gave vaping a real chance, and discovered I had bought a typical smoker's first cigalike, and that there's better out there. If someone had offered it to me, I'd have had a wtf moment and set it aside quicker than you can say "vaping sucks". That's why I'll never buy anyone a cheap ecig, and obviously I'm not going to invest heavily in nicer gear when the person's already said they're not interested.

Instead I'm honest with the person: yes you'll have to shell out some serious dosh to get a proper ecig and some juice worth vaping, and yes you might get frustrated with it at first. But if you invest the money and time needed to get into vaping properly, and you show the same patience you showed getting used to swallowing cigarette smoke without coughing or puking, you won't regret it and the investment will pay for itself very quickly. Beyond that, frankly it's not my problem.
