Oh ya....he was offended by my vaping. Very angry. His logic is obviously flawed, but I understand how affronted he felt by me standing there quietly trouncing on his addiction. Folks even suggesting I needed to quit smoking really got under my skin...I thought "how could YOU possibly understand...I'll die without my smokes." Honestly...I never said a word about vaping, never even suggested he try it. Someone else asked what I was doing and in just a few short words, I told them, not wanting to really talk about it. He blew up on me. No...I didn't like it, and yes, he was a complete jerk. I hope he was jealous the next time his chest hurt and couldn't catch his breath going up the steps. :glare:

I encountered this same issue about a week ago. "The Angry Smoker" who was offended by my vape. He went on and on about how dangerous my habit was. He was deeply offended that I would not argue with him, too.

When he was all spent, standing there catching his breath from his rant, I said simply, "Enjoy your healthy alternative to vaping" and laughed at him. That was all that needed to be said.

He turned a funny shade of purple, like Grimace from the old McDonalds commercials. Such a shame.

I was standing near a soda vendor waiting for a friend. This was an unsolicited conversation.

Stranger: "l'll stick with my cigarettes." (After he's been eyeballing me for a minute or two.)

Me: "Ok."

Stranger: "You're inhaling hundreds of chemicals, you know that, right?"

Me: (After pausing for a minute debating on whether or not to retort) "It's actually four."

Stranger: "Four?! That doesn't sound right to me."

Me: "Nope, it's four even if you use the new math."

Stranger: "Still doesn't sound right to me."

Me: "Ok, I'm going to stand over here now."

Been vaping for less than a week, went on vacation to see some family. My mom couldn't stop asking "when are you going to step down your nic level to 0?" "You're going to try to drop your nic level, right?"

Sheesh, I don't know if I'm not gonna step it up yet  I'm only smoking @ 12-16, coming from a PAD of Reds.

That and "So when are you going to quit that too?" have been the most common questions, I actually vaped all over the place in Houston and didn't get a second glance, I was amazed.

Understand, what I am about to write was said to me from a smoker, while smoking, at the time I was vaping:

"Man, you're inhaling a bunch of chemicals."

Haha, I got that last night from someone at the laundromat. Lol

Not really stupid but a guy i work with refers to my vamo as "space ....". He will pop into my office and say"grab your space .... its time for break" (this is the same person who just gave me money to order him a ego set up:p)

That's kind of cool, though. He at least thought about it long enough to give it a try instead of dismissing it out of hand.

 Well said! I just wish they would see it my way...I don't pick on you about your habit, please don't pick on me about mine.

i was vaping at a bus stop, and was confronted by a guy using a readily available disposable. he told me that they were a "safer vaping alternative", bc when you change your batteries or refill bulk liquid you may begin to get anaphylactic type allergies to the hardware. seriously. i had to ask whether he meant potential allergens in the flavorings, which he admitted to potentially, but actually specified the overall hardware could magically give you allergies.
i have anaphylactic reactions to all nuts, but have found i can vape nut flavors from tv (they confirmed they have no actual nut product in their flavorings).

i think that interaction floored me the most. i have also had people actually get aggressive because they didn't believe i wasn't using tobacco or alternative natural substances.
