Regarding flaws cosmetic or functional. These are bound to happen, but not expected as these are hand assembled and tested individually. They are being done by a "human" and tough the human in question is a perfectionist, he is after all human. He has a routine most likely and working with others, might get distracted in the routine and might miss a miniscule cosmetic flaw.

But when a modder criticises and says all the things he says about all other devices being inferior and badly made with inferior materials etc cant admit that there is a flaw in on of his devices that bothers me. WHen all his disciples come on to tell you what one has done wrong and how to "fix" the supposed problems and make one feel like an idiot or an upstart that urks me.

When you can clearly see a visual difference in the finish and shine of new parts vs and old part and then they tell you its because the new part is not "broken in", that is "normal" for the things to be hard to screw in because they are new? All I ever heard from the users in the forums were that they were works of machinig art inside and out and that there were no other threading that compared to theirs, That bothers me.

Im not saying Im all "down" and negative on the maker but Please DONT give me silly excuses about something that clearly is not well finished or made. I had them send me 3 of the same part , first one scratched and dented and the rest still not right. It all pointed to me being lame and nit picky.

PS, sorry for the minor rant............

Can anyone please tell me why I am getting patches of dark spots that nothing will take off on my button and if there is a safer way than a fine grit sandpaper or steel wool to remove it. I just don't want to damage my ELA, and I like to keep my mods spotless/OCD so it's really bugging me lol. Still wouldn't trade it for anything else :D

Thats odd, I have had mine since July, but I would try some non abrasive cleaner like cape cod or even gun cleaning solvent. If that doesnt do it , then a gentle abrasive like autosol. It could be that yours got some sort of juice or something off your hands that has reacted with the air or even your own PH level.

If it was not there when you first got it, I would think its just dirty? I know that these are stainless steel, so the PH problems that occur with nickel and nickel plating should not be causing it.

If its a flaw in the actual steel, Im sure David can send you a new one. Is it the actual button or the slide lock with the "P"?

If I'm not mistaken, a hard short can cause arcing, which can result in dark spots on the button. My P+ had a couple from a previous owner. I just ignored them, as they didn't affect performance. Eventually they faded out, presumably as the result of the button rubbing against the body during normal use. I believe David has said before that they can be sanded out too.

I agree with Anavidfan, I'd use a cleaner rather than an abrasive like sandpaper. If it doesn't come off oh well. I'd be afraid that taking diameter off the surface might increase the chance of misfiring.

Thanks guys and gals yeah it is arcing caused by shorts. I run super low ohm dual coil builds so shorts are constant no matter how well I build my coils. I'll be giving everyone's advise a try. Anavidfan I have very acidic skin. I can literally bleach a black tshirt with my sweat it really sux.

love this thing already. those of you who remember me having concerns about using a bottom button (after using a cheap chinese bottom button mod)...thank you for talking me into not cancelling. the button is very smooth and fires with easy.

couple of quick questions about that button:

1) mine fires like a .03-.05 from being flush with the bottom. is this right? for some reason i thought it'd push in a bit more?
2) about the lock. it's very tough to use. there a trick here?

Nice!
1) my ELA is like that also so I would say its normal.I tried the brass button without washers from my p18650 and it would fire constantly,so that's out.
2)the lock will loosen up some the more you use it.

Regarding the button lock, I polished (600 grit sand paper then cape cod cloth) all the opposing surfaces to allow it to slide back and forth more smoothly. Combine that with the break in period, and mine locks/unlocks very easily.

ELA tip: If you have any Zen tank O-rings sitting around, you can put them in the grooves around the top and bottom of the ELA. They fit perfectly in the grooves and add just enough cushion so when you set your ELA down, it rests on the O-rings and not on the stainless. It works great and doesn't look gawky.

That ought to work pretty well to keep it from falling out of my shirt pocket too when I bend over to pickup whatever I just dropped.I got chronic butterfingers.
Nice Idea,Thanks!

is there a way to adjust the throw of the bottom button? maybe another o-ring down at the bottom? twice now the thing has fired just sitting in my holder and got REAL hot. tends to happen when its sitting not straight up and down, but at an angle. the button throw is just real short. since i use genny styles (haven't got the oddy clone to work worth a darn), i have to keep it standing up..which it doesn't do well...and i have to leave it in a holder so it doesn't constantly fall over.

I have that happening to mine when I put it in the holder, apparently the bottom of the holder is not flat. I does not fire on a table etc. When it happened to me it fired for at least 45 mins.

I suspect that the bottom of your holder probably is not level, most likely due to what they use to drill it.

I just make sure I lock it or lay it down when Im not vaping. I leave it standing all the time in the kitchen etc. Just as long as its not within the reach of my "little devil kitty" it pretty steady.

I dont know if ELA uses washers, but I think it is adjustable by giving it a turn. I might be wrong as Ive never dabbled in adjusting the throw. Im sure someone will chime in.
