Ok so I have been reading for a few hours now on this thread and the original one....... phew it's a lot. I'm A pretty experienced vapor vv/vw, mechs, rda, gennys etc. I just ordered the XL a la carte for $69.99 as I already have a bunch of batteries and an i4 charger. I have searched and there is soooo much info and discussion it is hard to actually find any answers. So here it goes.

1. What is the best atty to use? Not sure I'm overly interested in cartos simply for the fiber fill. But open to suggestions
2. Seems to me that the atty has to be long in order for a drip tip to work. What drip tips do you guys use?
3. Is it worth it to put an 18ga needle in the bottle for true squonk or just do the tilt dance?
4. Was thinking about using a kick and 18500 but heard the battery life was not so good. I have pretty good life on my mechs running just an 18490 or 18650 at 1.0 ohm. I don't start to notice much of a drop until around 3.5 or so. Whats the best battery set up?

Any other cliff notes would be greatly appreciated. Sorry to be that guy asking a question when I am sure it is answered, but I'm not sure I can make it through 500+ pages. Thanks in advance!.

Oh and i used coupon code T823V to get the XL a la carte down to $69.99. I think it's good until Friday

Welcome to Vmodia, Budget. Good choice on the A la Carte. And, Kudo's for doing a ton of reading!

1. Best premade atty: Vapage Hybrid Slant Coil Spec BF Atty (aka Shi-fu) in 1.5 (or 2.0 ohms); HH357 or Aero.

Someone else will have to answer for the rebuildables. There are a couple that have been used and or modified to use and some fairly recent discussion and pictures and more coming out that could work.

You will most likely get a 2.0 ohm Hybrid Slant Coil Spec in your a la carte.

2. I use any 510 drip tip.....from shorties on up. A few recently have enjoyed the knucklehead.

3. I prefer the tilt dance. Like everything in vaping, there are varying opinions. I don't think most people do the modification.

4. I tend to use the 18650 Panasonic CH's on my XL these days. As it's usually my "purse mod", I go for the long battery life and pure convenience. I'm still a fan of AW's too. The Vmod can be modded for Kick easily with good result. I haven't heard of extremely early cut off with the Vmod, like I have with some other mods. Certainly worth a try if you have a Kick and 18490's.

Is this your first feeder?

Welcome to VMODia, Low. It's a very cool purchase!

As far as your questions, good that you asked.

1. Most of us love the Shifu Spec atty... I prefer the 2.0Ω but some of course love the 1.5s. The Shifu atty in some ways may rival the HH. Cartos... I love Boges and I have totally enjoyed the Silos from Vapage (the little shorty guys).

2. Nope. A standard 510 atty will fit perfectly and any 510 drip tip should work.

3. I am not sure a needle bottle would actually work in the VMOD. It's a different set up that squonking devices. I'd stay with the tilt dance.

4. Have to leave this one for someone who's Kicked their VMOD.

My Cliff notes include, fill, tilt, vape and enjoy!

:)

I dont' think you can do better than the Vapage hybrid slant coil in the vmod, especially for the PRICE. I had some that lasted 5 months!

I quit smoking with vmod. I really love the squonk window placement, it is very intuitive and will work with either hand. Vmods will always have a special place in my heart, it was my very first mod!

I could not have quit smoking had I not found bottom feeders in general. That is a fact. I would have simply given up.

Love having everything I need "on board".

the boge 2.0 cartos work fine with the vmod, too.

IMR 18650s are fine to use, as are the batts that come with from vapage. There is a spring in the bottom of the mod that will collapse if there's a short, I find bottom feeders in general to be VERY SAFE mechanical mods!

GL with your new baby. It also feels very good in the hand.

Can't address the Kick, never used one, never felt I needed to use one. Hit on a vapage atty is very nice.
I only used the tilt when I was running low in the bottle, otherwise, squonk, easy peasy. This mod is so easy, I was a newbie dummy and had zero problems using it.

Another vote here for the AMG hybrid atty - I bought 8 in the 50% off sale :D

I've not been a Vmodian long, but I'm already hooked on the little beauty - I got the mini version.

I find the flavour is as good as direct dripping - it really is that good, it's as good as my cotton wicks on other devices too

Yes......as long as you order 1.5 or 2.0 ohms.

Shi-fu is just the name that this atty was first called when it came out and how it was referred to on this thread for quite some time.

Shi-fu means master in Chinese, and is a very appropriate nick name for this atty.......and though strange to spell, easier than typing Pro Slant Coil, which is how it is described on the site.

The inside of the atty looks like this:

The Vmod is truly awesome! I love the feed system with it..."gravity feed" is what I've heard it called. Once yoy get the way it works, it's very intuitive. I have now also a Bogger Box...which uses the blind squonk thing and while I love the beauty of my Bogger, and enjoy using it...NOTHING can touch Vmod for user friendliness, efficiency, style and vape. It's just simply a great mod! I ended up with 4 XLs and one "mini" and love them! I've gotten J-Wraps for a couple of them, and spare shells...bottles...o-ribgs. Never want to be without a Vmod nearby!

The "shifu" is a sort of pet name for the pro spec slant coil atties from Vapage. They are widely considered one of..if not THE best atomizers out there. I think they are better than the Cisco spec ones...or any other attie I've tried. Don't discount the Silo carto. They are great! Better flavor and life than any other carto I've tried. And I've tried nearly all of them.

I think you'll love your Vmod. Get to know it...give it (the chassis) a bath in warm water regularly, and just enjoy a truly satisfying, no hassle vape!

Hi Guys (wave to all the beautiful VModian People),

To each his own, but for any new VModian, just let me say, you cannot go wrong, but can go very right, using the Shifu and the Silo Cartos. Just keep the ohms low to keep the vape and flavor high. Great additions to the VMod. No reason to go looking elsewhere until after you have given them a try.

Good Luck boys and girls.

I have been using Boge carto's on some of my Vmods and love the way they last so long. I think the gravity feeding is a good way to vape a carto. I like Boges 2.0 are better than the vapage carto's in fact i discovered that short carto's of any kind are not what i want. ymmv

I've been making some (to me) interesting observations lately about my atomizers/cartomizers. Thought I'd share while on this topic. Being the end of the month I'm having my usual panic of "How can I make things last longer? Do I have enough? blah...blah". I worry a lot. Anyway, here's what I am finding out. It includes my other bottom feeder so I hope that's okay.

The "Shifu" pro spec slant coils are by FAR (imho) the best on the Vmod, but the Silo does very well also. For awhile I was buying up all the Smok super shorty cartos I could find. The slightly longer ones worked pretty good but the overall lifespan wasn't that great. The ones that are REALLY short (and there is no way to know which you are going to get...the usual Smok lack of consistency) don't do that well at all. They'll do in a pinch if there's nothing else...but they aren't that reliable and certainly don't have any durability to speak of.

My thing is that the shifus are pretty expensive. They vape amazing and they last very very well...but it's still painful to pay that much for something that may or may not last a week to 10 days (for ME...mind you! I vape 10ml average a day at 3.5mg. nic....85% PG and clear menthol at 5% flavor in DIY) The Ciscos specs are the same price. So I do use the cartos to try to "stretch" things a bit. So my stop gap...other than the super shorties is to use regular standard cartos to try to pace my shifus some. Other than the Silos, so far as I can tell, the regular standard Smok ones at 2ohm seem pretty durable and they have another side benefit (more on that later). The Boge 2ohm seem a harder draw and I feel like they gurgle more than I like. I love Boge in my carto tanks, but not so much on the Vmod or Bogger. I also tried Kanger because it seemed like the theory of the horizontal coil on the bottom would be ideal on the bottom feeder. Yes...it does very well at first, and the flavor is very good. But some reason for ME the Kanger seems to clog up quicker and the vapor gets reduced. I have no idea why. Maybe because I chain vape so bad.

Anyway..I've concluded that the shifu really IS the best bet for me on the Vmod, with the referenced cartos good for pacing the atomizers out for longer life. I try to soak my shifus in Vodka (or PGA) overnight from time to time and let them dry. That seems to help a bit. Dry burning was a disaster for me...near killed two of my shifus, and I won't do it again (more on my salvage on those later, too).

Now to the second part: I also have the Bogger. My attempts with RBA have been dismal failures (could be my juice just doesn't lend itself to RBA, and I'm not about to vape a different juice!). I have found that the Smok regular cartos work well on the Bogger. Also the Cisco spec 306 LR (2ohm) atomizers. BUT...the shifus also work well on them! When a shifu has been used a long time, and cleaned several times and is not working that great on the Vmod anymore (but still firing okay) I can put it on the Bogger and get some more life out of it! Even the ones I dry burned and near ruined! Cool! May have something to do with the airflow on the Bogger that helps revive the shifu a little. Or it doesn't fire as hot (efficient) as the Vmod. Not sure.

Anyway..that's my "findings" so far. I'm going to eek out every teensy bit of life out of my atomizers and cartomizers I possibly can...as long as I can. So having the Bogger as a back up is a very good thing (besides, it's so PURDY!) Especially now I am pretty sure RBA is out of the running for me. When things stop working good on my beloved Vmod...sometimes I can get a bit more use out of it on the Bogger. I like that.

Maybe...I don't have a Reomizer so I am not positive. They wouldn't have a sealed connector, so that's good. And they are pretty wide...so if you could get them to screw on, it should work. You'll need a 510 to 510 adapter, of course. Maybe an extra O ring? Not sure. I know some have modded the A7 to work on the Vmod.

Edit..sorry I had to fix some spelling errors. Grandbaby was pounding on my hand while I was trying to type. Most distracting.
