Oh yeah!! I rescued my VMod from the post office box today!! Have the bottle filled up, didn't know if the battery needed to be charged but thought I would give it a whirl to see and it is working! I put the atty in the came with it and now have a question for you good folks. I added about 3 drops of liquid right from the top as I wondered if it needed to be primed or something. Wasn't sure if liquid coming from the bottom for those first few vapes would be sufficient. I heard a quick 'pop' when I first fired it up but that doesn't seem to have affected it any. I'm going to put it aside (probably) and come back in a bit to see if anyone saw this and recommends adding a few more drops to the top to 'break the atty in'.

One thing I do have to say ... you're absolutely right, BigMac! Holy crap - this draw is light! Not at all what I am used to but guess I'll get used to it. Kind of feels like when you broke the paper on your cigarette and still tried to smoke it anyway, lol.

Am thinking that, once I get used to it, I'm really going to like this baby! Surprised at how good it feels in the hand, too. It has a good weight to it. Again, BigMac ... I agree that it does feel a bit 'slippery' ... again, just something to get used to. Anyway, I lied ... I'm probably going to keep vaping on it and just go with the flow if it feels or tastes like the atty could have used some more top drops.

If you're using the hybrid I suggest to put 10 drops just to make sure the coil is soaked.. I personally fill the hybrid half way and let it drip back to the bottle. As far as the tight draw.. Follow my quick fix a few post back. But becareful when performing the fix.

I'm sure you will like this mod. This made use my Provari as a paper weight since it's pretty convenient for everyday vape and less expensive than a Provari incase you drop it or lose it.

Thanks, chadster ... I'll check out your post but, oddly enough, either I'm getting used to the draw or it has somehow tightened up on it's own because I'm finding it to be almost perfect now.

I have to admit that I kind of fought with this baby last night trying to get the hang of it and I'm pretty sure part of that was because I didn't soak the atty enough. I put another 4 drops in after awhile but fought the 'dry hit' syndrome for awhile. Also having some 'learning curve' going on determining how hard to squeeze the bottle to get the juice up. Looking at the videos, it didn't seem like it took too much but then again it was all guys I was watching. Then I found one by a lady (and I can't remember her name but she is a real Reo fan and I think it almost hurt for her to have to admit that the VMod XL was actually a pretty damn good bottom feeder, lol). Anyway, I noticed that she seemed to really give it a good, hard squeeze so have been doing that and it's better now.

All in all, it is a bit of a learning curve when all you've used are cig-style batteries but it's coming along and I know I'm going to love this mod!! Charged up the battery last night so I'm good to go for probably a couple of days with the rate I vape. The atty is starting to get broken in and I'm finally getting enough juice up to it with a little more 'squeeze' in play.

So far I'm finding the juice flavor a bit muted but I'm sure that is mostly user error and all will improve as this starts to become second nature to me. All in all ... I'm loving this mod and I'm SO GLAD I finally took the plunge and bought it!!!! :vapor:

Howdy folks, let me start by saying, ahhhhhhhhhhh, ain't life grand? My new VMod and I are getting along very well. Taste is great, vapor production is excellent.

I found that if I use my pointer finger on the button instead of my thumb, it feels much more natural to me. Originally I was pushing the button with my thumb. I made a comment about it while my wife was in the room, and she said something along the line of "turn the thing over old man", and I did. What she said was actually not that nice, i'm paraphrasing here. Works better for me that way. Nice and comfy.

Last night once, and once this morning, my wife asked if I had lite a cig. Said she smelled smoke. I caught a whiff of it this morning also. I had just taken a hit and chocked it up just before the smell. I think I was under-juiced, what do you think? Does that sound like anyone else's experience?

In the bag that my extra bottles came in, there's a small plastic item. Kinda looks like the small white plastic piece that comes in the end of a carto, anyone know what that is?

Lastly, I am very happy with my XL. Like I said before, I'm new to DIYing and the XL has given my homemade watermelon juice new life. Before is was an ok vape, one that I thought was a ok for a first try...with the taste coming from the XL, I'm now also a much happier DIYer, lol.

Ya know what, there is one other thing I wanted to ask....my wife asked me last night " so what are you going to do to fancy that one up?" I thought about it, saw the extra bodies on line, but was wondering, has anyone done anything 'special' to their VMods to fancy them up? Can't say I've seen any threads showing blinged out VMods anywhere?

Thanks folks, ya'll steered me in the right direction for the VMod.

Sandpapered? Sounds like you may want to spray a light coat of primer on it to smooth everything out. I am going to try this from the neighborhood Home Deepot http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs...&productId=100131010&R=100131010#.UI2514asxt0

Honestly muted flavor I get when I over feed =)

Its a learning curve for sure but no more than a few days youll figure it out!!

Wow ... when I manage to do everything right, this is so unbeatable for flavor!! Sadly, I only seem to hit it right about 15% of the time! I don't know what the blazes I'm doing wrong. I mean ... how simple can it be, right? But, for some reason, even though when I squeeze I can 'hear' a slushy kind of sound that would seem to indicate to me that juice has, indeed, been pushed up to the bottom of the atty ... more often than not, I am getting an almost dry hit. Lots of times, there is 'smoke' that comes from the drip tip when I squeeze which tells me that the atty was too darn dry when I JUST squeezed it two vapes before! And when I pull the atty off, the sides are coated with juice. Hmm ... does anyone have any tips that will make me slap myself with the painfully obvious? And by the way ... I'm wondering what that little plastic o-ring is on the bottom of the atomizer? I know I read about it before but this thread is so long, God knows where it is buried now!

Thanks everyone for suggestions and I'll keep playing with this for sure. Like I said ... when the stars align, this is the absolute best vaping experience I have had and exactly what I have been looking for!

Try this.. Tilt the VMOD XL press the bottle until you feel a little tension. while pressing tilt the VMOD XL back up and slowly continue to press until you hear the slushy sound. if the VMOD XL is been sitting on a table top you might have to do the process twice. the easiest way to see if you're doing it correctly also to see if the liquid is coming out of the hybrid is by removing the drip tip temporarily until you get the hang of it. another tip is if you think you over soak the hybrid give it a couple of squeeze to drain the liquid back to the bottle. as far as the gasket on the bottom of the hybrid. remove it! that's the reason why you have liquid around the chimney stack and around the cone. this will also let the liquid in the holes on the bottom of the hybrid which is the main purpose of those holes. give this a shot and let me know.

Howdy guys and dolls,

I've "liked" the carbon shell parts of the thread, here's hoping.

Fisher Pal, yeahhhhhhh babyyyyyy, so glad you were finally able to get your mitts on your XL. It is a wonderful device! I'm still using my first silo, been vaping watermelon and its great. I've got 10 x 10 ml's due in tomorrow, so I thought I'd save the hybrid for some nice enhanced juices, probably the Kailua and maybe the key lime pie...decisions, decisions, lol. When I saw your post about receiving it, just had to say congrats, and then to hear how much you are enjoying it....wow, fantastic. If and when you try the silo, I've found that after i vape, i hold the device, silo down when not vaping on it. I only have to hit the bottle once in a great while. Seems to keep a flow going so I seldom have to hit the bottle to send juice to the atty. Batteries, well, I go thru one battery for about every 1/3 to 1/2 of the bottle if I start with an almost completely full bottle. I go thru a bottle 8-9ml in a little over a day. Yeah, I know, I vape a whole lot more than I ever smoked. Guess it's a good thing I have 4 batts laying around, HA!

As to the rubber dip, I've thought about it and use it on tool handles all the time (its a good idea), and I may try it on a case once I get another one, cause I have a habit of screwing stuff up, ask my wife, she'll tell ya. One of my friends has a bunch of leather pieces and he's bringing some over this weekend, gonna see about making a cover and of course I have no leather working experience since the cub scouts back in the early sixtys. Yeah, yeah, yeah, we were still using dinosaur hide way back then.

I wonder just how hard it is to use carbon fiber, hmmmmmm. I researched it at one time when building recumbent bikes, may have to look into it again.

Congrats again Fisher.

Vape proud

Fisher, a couple points to respond to what you said...
that "smoke" when you squeeze, doesn't necessarily mean it is bone dry ( i think you figured that out by now)... it merely means you have a hot coil which is right since you just vaped it a second ago, and juice IS getting there, which is a good thing... if that's your intention.
I tilt it right after a vape (even tilt while vaping because that's a good way to keep the juice there when firing; called "fire feeding"), to keep the coils wet ( a good thing for the atomizer).
You can never really visually gauge how much juice is in there, and the KEY to vaping is having just the right amount of juice on the coil. Too much is a fail, and too dry can be a bust. BUT better slightly dry imo, because you can just add more, VS too wet and your stuck with junk vaping until you get some of it gone.

Bottom feeding is the same as dripping, but you cant really see the juice ... so you have to get to know the device well.
1. take the atty off and tilt and squeeze (lightly lightly) and watch how much juice comes out.
2. know that tilting will allow some juice up in there too (at least it does as long as I've known the XL)
Trial and error to get that 15% up to about 75%.
3. you can tilt/squeeze and with the d/t off and visual it for yourself...
just until you get to know your b/f... then it will be your bff.

First of all ... a huge THANKS to all who have chipped in with your suggestions. Every one of you has added to my learning experience.

Chadster - Thanks to your suggestions (taking the rubber o-ring off and the tilt/squeeze routine), things have improved immensely!! Almost no dry hits, great flavor now and ... of course, tons of vapor! I'm really starting to feel like I'm getting the hang of it and I LOVE IT! :D

BigMac - so good to read and hear from another brand-newbie! Glad to hear you're enjoying it so much - I'm catching up to you fast, lol!

Ukeman - thanks for the tip on the 'tilting while you vape'. It certainly is going to take a bit of trial and error and getting used to as, at least with top dripping, you know exactly how much juice is going into the atty. With the b/f, until you get your system down, it's kind a bit of guess work on the fine-tuning.

MaxPerilous - I'm another one who finds the case a tad too slippery - checked out your link to Home Depot - am thinking that is the magic bullet answer all right! Thanks for sharing that tidbit.

I have several IKV 306 atomizers that I loved using on my Ego Twists and was looking forward to using them with the VMod. Screwed one in this morning and damn near lost it and couldn't get it out again! Without the drip tip cover, they are perilously short and the only cover I have is actually a bit too loose so cannot screw it in using that. Had to unscrew the inner thread - which, by the way, was as tight as hell and I was afraid I was going to break or screw up the threading on it. Once I got that 306 out again, decided to just leave well enough alone! Keep the 306's for Ego testing purposes and take the plunge and order some of the 1.5 Hybrids instead!

Tried the Silo cartomizer but can't say I enjoyed the experience as much. But that's okay because I wanted the VMod for the dripping experience anyway and only really want to use atties on it.

And one of the best things (besides the whole vaping experience that is)? I bought some juices a little while ago that I tested by dripping and quite liked them all. Then I filled my cartos with them for my Egos and ... they didn't taste the same at all! Didn't like any of them in the cartos. Now I could drip at home or at work but for car rides, out and about, etc. ... it just wasn't cutting it with the cartos. NOW ... I am back to enjoying them all again! I've always been a flavor-first vapor and the VMod has brought it all back in spades! Happy, happy camper! And I know it will just get better as I get more experienced with this mod.

Sorry for the long post - they won't be so long from now on but wanted to specifically thank some of you. This is a great group of people!!

Hey folks - quick question:

I'm using a 1.8 ohm Cisco 306 hybrid on my VMOD 2.0 and it has been doing really well. I've had the VMOD for about a month or so and absolutely loving it. Recently though, I've been getting an extremely cool vape and poor vapor production which I can't stand. I know it isn't the attie as it works fine on other batteries. Could it be that both of my batteries (included in the kit) have gone bad in a matter of a month? Is there anything else it could be?

Also, I want to give this little badboy a bath - any recommendations?

Thanks!
