For new xl (deep chamber) i use oring 5x1 between a7 and adaptor (not between adaptor and xl), for old xl i shorten adaptor with dremel about 1mm.

What is this old/new stuff, deep chamber etc. stuff? What did the old XL look like? I thought the XL has been the same since it came out?

I'm kinda curious here as well RH:confused: I thought the changed the Plastic on the Newer(more duable?) ones, but I figured the feed chamber would still be the same:unsure:

It was good for about a 48 yarder. LOL. I was really surprised how easy it was. I looked for some soft brass sheeting for a bit, and then thought about it a little harder while drinking a few beers. I've seen people apply a full length of foil or whatever. Just had to solder tack the metal piece to the neg circuit bar. Done deal.

And just how hard did ya "Kick" it TB:blink:.. A "Kicked" XL, is a happy XL:laugh:

Ok, so here is the current project. I can't speak to the longevity of the Plasti-Dip coating as it just peels off to remove it. It does give a very nice slight 'tacky' feel to the case which is what I was looking for. Be advised though, if overspray is present on the inside of the shell, be sure to rub it off before assembling. (Sorry about the pic quality. My good camera is at a friend's house.)

Great job, TBinAZ! Looks very nice! I am really going to have to consider this. Psychologically it just feels like I have to grip it pretty tight so that it doesn't slip out of my hand (which it has a couple of times already). Having a bit of resistance against the palm of my hand would be a good thing.

Thanks, FP. Turned out not so bad for a first go at it. Nice thing about this P-D is that you can just peel it off and do over if need be. The can is probably good for around 25 coats. I'm sure there are different colors out there, but my local store only had the black.

I know I posted this before when we were talkin about PlstiDip. All the red plastic parts on this truck here are Plasti Dipped. Bumper, mirrors, grill, even the dually fenders are all Plasti Dipped. I'd have to get a hold of my lil bro that lives about 300 miles away exactly where to get it, but he was saying that just like paint they can color match anything you want.

Kicked XL looks great!! Love the beer can method. Now your XL has a lil bit of spirit and some kick to it too!

I WISH that was my truck lol.

My lil bro works for Raven Diesel Performance. His friend whom he works with is the owner of that beautiful Ram. They do a lot of drag racing around the states and my lil bro was even invited to race at the NHRDA World Finals last month. Only the top 16 point holders were invited to the race for his class.

So not only does that truck look good. It can scoot down the 1/4 mile really quickly to boot! lol

I just wanted to illustrate that Plasti Dip can look good, and also come in almost any color you could hope for.

A closer pic of the Plasti Dipped grill and the paint on the truck. Plus that is some sweet pin stripping lol.

It looks good and has a tacky feel to it, but be advised, it's a plastic coating and not an adhesive paint. It WILL peel off eventually, and will most likely start at the sharper edges. Mine has already begun to peel a little bit after only a couple of days usage, but not bad. Also, if you do try the spray, check the inside of the shell for over spray, or it will not slide onto the chassis. It can be rubbed off with your finger, but be very careful that you don't cause premature peeling on the edges. In hindsight, two nice light coats letting it dry about 30 mins between coats, and then letting dry overnight, should do the trick. Make sure the case is clean and dry before applying.

Another kewl thing I picked up for the VMod, and works rather well, is one of these DCT filler/drip tip things. It basically eliminates juice spitting when 'S-ing' and while using LR attys. Looks kind of nice on it too. It was less than $3 and is anodized metal.

I'm going to have to get to the hardware store tomorrow! I'd love to paint my XL the same color as your truck!

I actually landed up doing something completely different. In my search in the hardware store (and after I found out how much the plastic spray was!), I discovered that duct tape comes in some amazing designs!! Found a real nice 'oak leaf' one which actually looks kind of camouflage on such a small item. Anyway, thought I'd give it a try. Need to do a few touch ups but I'm quite liking it! Feels good in the hand and looks decent (to me). Once I get it all tweeted up and figure out how to upload a picture here, I'll do so.
