Hey mike and everyone else involved in this thread. I'm gathering up information and parts to get to start my very own DNA20 build. I've ordered a 1590B and wodering if I should for dual 18650 1s2p or go with an RC battery. If anyone could point me in the right direction as to the difference of the 2 other than Lipo saftey, that'd be great!

I'm new to LiPos myself, so one of the others will need to jump in as to all of the pros/cons.
However, from what I have gleaned so far, the mod I am currently building for my girlfriend, and the next one I build for myself, will both have LiPos. For me the deciding factors are power density, and continuous current. All of the 18650 high drain bats I have seen had relatively low capacity. The LiPos can easily handle the highest current I would ever use without breaking a sweat, and I can fit a 6000mAh LiPo in the same space as one of those 1s2p bat holders.

I'm a little fuzzy on the battery situation of the 1s2p 18650s. Say I have 2 2000mah 20a cont. dram 18650s running parallel. Does that mean the mod will hold a 4000mah 40a cont. draw? Also, if I solder the 18650 batt holder to the DNA20 board, could I unsolder it and replace the mod with a Lipo battery?
I would recommend starting out with a couple of the Sony 18650 30a 2000mah or wait and see how the new 18650 LG 30a 2500mah batteries perform (btw I asked the eBay battery seller in SLC when he would have the LG's and he thought he should have them around The first of February....probably about the same time I get mine from china

1) Those two 18650s in parallel would give you 4000mAh @ 40A cont. The thing you have to remember about the 1s2p bat holder though is that it has a PCB in it that will limit the current to less than 10amps, so dont expect to see 40A ever. If you are using a DNA20 you only need 7amps anyway before the DNA itself would start limiting current. You would be comfortably within the low to mid range of those bats.

BJ I haven't completely forgot about the Tibs-2. Besides being swamped at work, I was a little taken back at the resistance of the FT battery holder so I ordered a couple of different battery holders and some contacts to test.
I ordered a couple of these to try out along with the battery holder that mike used in "the weekender" from FT. The main concern I have is will the mod be able to give the required amp draw to an atty at .8ohms at 20watts and if it will last longer than a day at the specified settings.

I got the 1600 mAh yesterday for the Groove boards. Cut it open to make it parallel.
Separated the batteries and flipped one so both pos were together same with both neg. A bit of solder to the tabs and now have a 3200 mAh.
Fits fine in the Groove.

With those specs I am thinking that the oval opens up and drip tip is servo'd out to your mouth. You missed this one "driven by a 26650 battery Industry ( optionally 2 )"Ha!...I did say science fiction....

Interesting concept. I've long been dreaming of a PV system centered around a juice spray/injector similar to the fuel injectors of an internal combustion engine. Nothing more than fantasy up to this point, but it does look good on paper.
