Popping in to say, recently I had requested some information about DIYing here in this section. I had my cart from Wizards Labs filled, but in the end, I backed down and bought my usual monthly juice.

This week, however, my usual vendor has had some personal issues and inventory problems and I was running low on my juice. So, I finally did it. I took the plunge.

Now, obviously since I am telling you all this in this thread, I made my purchase at Wizards Labs :D Seriously, I could not find a cheaper site for everything I needed to get started, and automatic plus for this company.

As I'm sure it has happened to many of you, John, from WL, called me last night. I had left a message in the comment box indicating that I was a tad nervous about spending my monthly juice allowance on this new endeavor. He called me and talked to me for a good while about the whole aspect of DIYing. I have read about DIYing for months now, but we had spoken about flavors and he had given me tips and tricks to help me out.

I haven't got my package yet, it was sent out today. I just wanted to pop in and let anyone, who like myself, that plan on trying this hobby out (diy) for the first time, you cannot go wrong with Wizards Labs. If there is even just one flavor that I can vape and enjoy, I have enough supplies to last a half a year's vaping, for $50! Amazing.

Thanks John!

You will do fine, go slow, and take notes on how much for everything, make adjustments in small amounts. There are 4 of at work that vape, I now make the juice for all of us..

I'm praying my DIY works out LOL,,,,I simplified the whole thing as much as possible,,,

I'm going to start at 5% flavor and then go to 10%,,,,,,

I'm nervous too

Lev, John is great. If you need help with your recipes please feel free to ask the forum or you can give me a PM and I'll give you what assistance I can.

Just keep notes, mix accurately and use an ejuice calc :)

Welcome to DIY, the water is warm :vapor:

:p :p :p

I should add that pg and vg although they contract the colder they get, the inverse is true, they expand the hotter they get. Some airspace is a good idea in any case.

It doesn't expand like water does when it freezes, but on a bottle I filled to the tippy top, and thawed later there was a little ooozing, or bubbling out of the container. I just suggested to leave a *tiny* bit of headroom.

Maybe my VG collected too much moisture from the air or something. I don't know. It did ooze on a cookie sheet so alls ok. It was easy to clean up.

As per a discussion I had with John, I think I am going to leave the cap off of my vg for a couple of days to allow some of the moisture in the air to absorb in. I guess it helps to say that I ordered pure vg nic and pure vg otherwise :p

Baku, thanks for the offer, I appreciate it :)

I've done a great deal of research on all of this, but even so, there isn't really that much info out there as far as what to mix what specific flavor in. That is, unless you're looking for a specific recipe, which I am not. At this point, the beginning, I am just trying an assortment of flavors to figure out what I like and don't like. That's my first mission. I'm going to mix each of my flavors I purchased at very low %'s and record the flavor daily, and adjust as needed.

Once I have what flavors I love, like, dislike down, I will eventually figure out what I think, personally, will go good with one another.

Truth be told, I'll probably end up mixing something right away, in an effort to appease my curious mind :D

I'll definitely give the thread heads up when I get my package, and if I have any inquiries, I'll surely pick your minds.

I found the flavors I got from WL worked well for me at 5%. Some might find my mixes a little weak...but they taste like intended. I've shared with a couple people who were impressed. One guy who has been buying locally at $2/ml wanted me to supply him. I counted that as a compliment and I will pass him some here and there...but I am not looking for business.

The other thing I did early on, mix single flavors. Then I would combine two. Then I learned a dominant flavor is good, so I would use more peanut butter than banana to give a little more weighted flavor.

Flavorings from wizardlabs

*=Loranns **=Seedman No star=The Flavors Apprentice
Apple-My girlfriend really likes this one. It tastes like green apple jolly ranchers. I mix it at 4% with 2% watermelon.(Applemelon)
On its own I recommend anywhere from 5-8% depending on how strong you like your flavor to be.
Bittersweet Chocolate-Tastes reminiscent of dark chocolate/cocoa powder. Its not very sweet so I recommend using a decent amount of sweetener. Good around 5-6%. I used it at 8% with 1% coconut and it came out HORRIBLE.
Blackberry-This is one of my all time favorites. It tastes very natural. I mix it at 4%. This one is strong. I recommend using it at 2-4%. It gets perfumy in high amounts so use it sparingly.
Blackberry*-Tastes like artificial blackberry but not in a bad way. I haven't tried it on its own, but if I were too, I would use it at 6-9%. I like to mix it with the TFA blackberry to add depth.
Blueberry Extra-I can't really put my finger on this one. Its a mix between artificial and natural blueberry. It is a very weak flavor in my opinion. I like to add it to other fruit flavors. Good around 8-15%. (Melts clearo's)
Blueberry*- A very natural tasting blueberry compared to its TFA counterpart(surprisingly). Good to use anywhere from 7-13%
Boysenberry-I just made a test batch of this at 5% no more than an hour ago. It tasted like soap. It definitely wasn't sweet enough. Next time I'll be doing it at 2% and adding a lot more sweetener. I don't like this one.

Cappuccino- A very nice coffee flavoring. It tastes like sweet artificial coffee, but not in a bad way. Has nice creamy notes. Very similar to TFA coffee. Good at 7-10%. My recipe has it down as being optimal at 9. I recommend trying it.
Champagne - Smells like fermented grapes. I haven't tried it on its own yet so I can't comment on what percentage it would be good at. But if I had to guess, I'd say around 6-8%
Cheesecake(NY style)*-This flavor is a must have. Smells like delicious cheesecake. It actually smells better than the real thing in my opinion. I like to use it as an additive at 1-2% to add depth. I use it at 3-4% when I want my fruit juices to have a cheesecake flavor. I highly recommend it.
Cherry Blossom- I really like this flavor. It tastes slightly artificial but doesn't tastes like medicine. It melts clearos so sadly I had to stop using it. It is very weak, I used it at 15%. I recommend using it at 12-18%
Coconut Extra- I f'ing hate this flavor. It is way to strong. I used it at 1% with the bittersweet chocolate and it was horrible. I don't recommend it. If you use it stay at 2% or under. It is VERY strong so use sparingly. blechhhhh
Coffee- Taste artificial, but it tastes better than the real thing. It is good at the same percentages as cappuccino. It has the same flavor as cappuccino just without the creamy notes.
Coffee*- I like the TFA coffee better even though this one tastes more natural. It smells EXACTLY like stewarts early in the morning when they're making their coffee. I made it at...uhh..looks like I forgot to wright it down *scratches head* I think I made it at 6%. Its a medium strength flavor so anywhere between 5-10 percent should be good.
Cotton Candy- Its just ethyl maltol in PG. Very weak as a flavor. Very good as an additive/sweetener. nuff said
County Fair Cotton Candy*-I don't really see a point in buying this. It has very little flavoring added to the ethyl maltol. Its not worth the money. I can't even really make out what the flavor is supposed to be. Maybe raspberry or blueberry? It is probably optimal at some ridiculously high percentage like 50% or something.

Dragonfruit-I'm testing this one now. I need more time before I give it a proper review. So far it is good at 5%. It reminds me of really sweet and tart bananas.
Grape Juice-This is a decent flavor. Reminiscent of welches grape juice. Its kind of weak. I mixed it at 9% and still found it to be a little weak. I'm going to try it at 12 or 13% next time.
Huckleberry- Just made a test bottle at 5%. I will be testing it shortly.
Juicy Peach-Tastes EXACTLY like peach arizona iced tea. It tastes artificial but not in a bad way. I made it a while back at 8% and it was good. Next time I would go 9-10%.
Kiwi- Very artificial tasting. Not bad, but not good either. I didn't really like this one but other people might. I haven't really got a chance to play around with it.
Lemon-Tastes like artificial lemon. Like the frosting my grandmother puts on her jeanette cookies. I was hoping it would be more natural tasting. I couldn't bring myself to try it. I did however put some in water and make lemonade. lol I've had better

Mango-Tastes like mango but not sweet at all. I haven't played around with it too much to give a proper review. But I will say this; This flavor has potential.
Nectarine -Tastes citrusy, kind of like mandarin oranges but different. John sent me a sample for free. I enjoyed it. Good at 4-7%
Pineapple-This is one of my all time favorites. It tastes EXACTLY like fresh pineapple, not like the canned stuff. I like it at 8%. Anywhere between 5-9% should be good. I HIGHLY recommend this flavor if you like pineapple.
Raspberry- Tastes and smells like nail polish remover. I will pay 100$ to anyone to shoot the person who tried to poison me with this stuff. Lol Just kidding. Seriously though, this stuff is garbage. Don't buy it. You have been warned.

Strawberry-Tastes very artificial. Not bad. It tastes like a strawberry fruit roll up. Its good at 6-8%
Strawberry kiwi*-Got a sample for free from John about a week ago. I still haven't tried it yet though.
Virginia Fire-Cured Tobacco**- YUM! This is a very rich, slightly sweet, earthy tobacco flavor. I love it! I make it at 6%. Anything higher then that would be overpowering. I think anywhere between 4-6% would be good. I HIGHLY recommend it.
Watermelon-Tastes like watermelon jolly ranchers. Very artificial, but still good. I'm not a big fan of watermelon flavors but I like this one. My girlfriend has me mix it at 2% with 4% apple(applemelon) It would be good on its own at 5-8%
Whipcream-My friend likes to add this to his waffle berry mix. I'm not thrilled with it. Its kind of weak. It tastes decent. I haven't tried it on its own. If I were to make it on its own I'd start at 5%.

Thats all......for now ;)
VAPE ON!

Thank u purely and I'm sending u a friend request I might need to ask u something later if that's ok and Wat should I mix the Marlboro at....I made some up the other day at 13% and didn't know not to should I through it out

No reason to throw any DIY out. You can dilute the Marlboro if it's too strong. Just
add more PG/VG and nic juice - or whatever your combo is. Marlboro is a bad boy
when DIYing, and I have problems making it too strong, too. By now, I'm thinking
starting with as low as 1 or 2% is good, and then go from there.

I wouldn't throw it out. If you like the taste/smell of it even though its strong then whack it down to 1-2% as bivie said. If you don't then give it to someone who likes that flavoring so they can do it.

I haven't tried it, but I've heard its really strong.

From what I've heard I would mix it as follows
2mL VG, 2ml 60mg/mL nic, .9 mL pg, .05 flavor, and a few drops of ethyl maltol. Maybe a few drops of lemon/vinegar juice too. That would make a 5mL 24mg 60/40 1% flavoring test bottle
This is off the top of my head. I didn't use the calc so the ratio might be a little off.

I noticed some correlation between smell of the flavoring and strength, but its not always a reliable means of gauging.
