There doesn't seem to be a lot of love for the 808

I wouldn't be here if it weren't for the 808's. I get upset with them now because of the battery life, but several months ago I tried some e-cigs for the first time - the cheap gas station disposables. Those didn't do it for me & I went back to analogs. About a month ago a friend convinced me to try an 808-based vape. I'm moving on, but it was the thing that convinced me to stick with vaping & that there were better things out there than the cheap disposables.

I use both. I use 510 for and have started KR808D-1 again. I wanted to keep one format but failed. I added KR808D-1 back because of one specific battery.

Which battery if I can ask?
I'm still on the 808 ' s an Ismok and 2 Volts plus 1 generic.... Always looking for a better way..

Sent telepathically from somewhere deep in within the Dothraki Sea..

I purchased a Bloog e cig about three weeks ago. I walked into a vape shop about a week later to pick up some juice and they showed me the Evod VV. I said oh that's nice but I just want some juice. They said, well why don't you try it. I said oh ok. I bought it on the spot. Effortless billows of vape. So glad I went to that store as I was able return the Bloog. Nothing against Bloog. They make an effective product. The problem is that as soon as someone tries a more advanced set-up they see the difference.

Sadly, this is the truth.

For me right now I've relegated my G6's to the "carto or bust" section of my juice box. Whenever I can, I vape on my VV V3.0s and my MVP using various tanks. But there are times when having a cig-a-like is nice to have. It even makes me look a little James Bond-ish when I break out my G6 case to put my PV together in a public place.

But at my current... uh... "vapitude", I've gone beyond needing or wanting an 808 device. And I am actually very, VERY sad to say that. My G6's got me off the analogs. They will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart. And when they are old and grey and no longer function, I will build a shrine to them because they did me such a huge service. But people change. People move on.

And believe me, I'm not trying to turn people off of 808s. They are great. They are useful. I love them. It's just that the ones I have, the Halo G6's, just don't last long enough to support my needs. I wish they did, I really do. They were always a great vape. Good batteries, a solid vape for what they were... But I've moved on.

I have heard people say this before, but I have a hard time really getting where you are coming from. I am happy with my 808s and just ordered several more batteries, carts, etc.

I see people walking around with something like a dremel slung from their neck to vape from and I cant say I think it looks good. My 808s provide all I need and they are small and discrete and not so odd. I have a passthrough I can use at my desk and several batteries and chargers, I know the batteries dont last that long (though most of mine are 380mah or more, compared to the 180mah you might have been using) but if I am going out I throw a half dozen batteries and a pack of carts in my pocket and I know I am good for a few days at least.

When I hear that the 808s worked for you at first but not now, I wonder, are you actually increasing your nicotine addiction? My desire to taper off the nicotine may wind up being more of a wish than a real plan, but I certainly dont want to increase my intake.

Hello, Im very new here, but I wanted to chime in. I have the Kanger E Smart, this is my first E cigg. I really do enjoy it. I really dont have a battery problem. I charge when it goes dead and can smoke on mine all day most times with out having to recharge. Im getting a good 5-6hrs out of mine. But my system is also less than a month old too. However I have the 808d Clearo on mine. I was not told that kanger made two thread styles. I am having a horrible time finding Cleros local. Everything and I do mean everything is 510. I don’t mind ordering online, but what if I burn out, Im a sitting duck for two days at least :-( If you go with the e smart I would strongly recommend calling some local places first to see if they carry the 510 or 808 thread. I hear they are phasing out the 808. I wish I knew this before buying my 808/ I have been considering upgrading to an Evod, however I have only had my Esmart for less than a month and Im not sure that the evod is actually considering an upgrade. As in more vapor hit, ( that would be the only reason i upgrade and for ease of supplies. .So I guess Im sort of looking for in put and putting my two cents in. I want something slender, nothing big. I don’t mind having to charge a little more to keep it small. I do however like good vape, I want to feel like im smoking something, not smoking an ultra ultra light antilog. So summary 1. check local stores for what they sell 510 or 808 ( in case you need their services) 2. is evod much of an upgrade compared to the esmart 808 3. E-smart has worked great for me I like it, and would recommend it. Thanks Friends.

Same here! I did recently get an eroll, to have another nice portable option, but I just don't feel the need for anything more advanced than my 808's. I've been analog free for four years and vaping on and off for 3 years. I just want something to vape, and I don't want to tinker or make a hobby of it. Some of these posts about more advanced systems read like an alien language to me. Ohms, mah, voltages, wrapping coils...I don't want to learn any of that, way too much work and time for me.
I want the experience of smoking, without the smoke, and I get that from 808's, so why bother with anything more? If you enjoy the hobby aspect of it great, but thats not why I vape.

In my area there is no shortage of 808 compatible gear available in stores. It's usually branded Cig2O or V2. It's more expensive and lower quality than what I purchase online so I plan to avoid it but it is available in a pinch. There are 4 places I can think of right off that carry e-cig gear, two of them are 'smoke shops' and they do carry more 510 but they have the 808 as well - the other two are regular stores and one carries the 808 stuff only, while the other carries only one-off/proprietary brands and mostly disposable.

I'm still 510-only, but I see some thriving communities in the Vapor4Life, Halo, and Smokeless Image sub-forums. Obviously, the 808 e-cigarettes are keeping many off tobacco without huge amounts of vapor and IMO that's a good thing. We know vapor is safer than tobacco smoke, but we don't know how safe it is.

I have nearly 50 years with tobacco, mostly fine hand rolled cigars and pipes in the last decade. Over the years, there have been many places that permitted cigarettes but banned pipes and cigars. We were considered a nuisance to many cigarette smokers. Where most tobacco smokers stick with cigarettes, it seems to me almost all of the vaping community quickly evolved from e-cigarettes to "e-cigars." An eGo is essentially a thin, 35 ring gauge size, while the 22-23 mm PVs are as big as the largest commonly available cigars, 58 - 60 ring gauge. They produce as much or more "smoke" as big cigars, in my experience. I find this an interesting phenomena.

If you're staying off tobacco with "ciga-likes," my congratulations. May you and they live long and prosper.

I tried to be all 510 but I have given up and my small devices are now KR808.

I have tried a sample of almost every KR808 but went with V4L for the high drain batteries. Large devices are still 510.

I gave away my eroll. It was not match in performance.

I got my eroll last week, and so far I've concluded its best for short drives around town running errands etc. Its the small size and the portable charger that make it ideal (for me) if I just need a simple shot of nic while out & about. Its also nice to keep on me for a quick shot of nic when I'm stressed at work. But yeah, for sitting around the house, especially if I'm chain vaping, my 808's still rule the roost.

I would chain vape on a Provari. Well, on three of them loaded each with something different.

Give the VL4 Titan a shot. It will hit harder than any other KR808 you have probably tried. I gave my eroll away because it was too mild.

John,
Isn't the battery in the V4L King Diamond/Stealth the same as in the much more expensive soft-touch Titan? I like the Diamond series since you can get it without the LED in the end as "Stealth" and in stainless steel. The Titan just seems to have these lava lamp "camo" finishes.

I may try one after the holidays are over. Can't justify any more $$ spent on myself until I'm finished playing Santa to everyone else :)
I poked around the V4L site, but I didn't see it mentioned if the auto Titan is sealed. Are they?

Yes they are.

The trick here is I don't want to overrate them but at the same time I don't want to underrate them either. They are the best I have tried. I have not tried everything in the world but I have tried a lot.

They will not replace a Provari. They have replaced all of my cigalikes for hands free stuff. They are not the hammer of Thor but for me they have been better than the others I have tried when I grab low ohms.

Are all 808's the same?

Yes it is.

I would have got some of the soft touch's is they had cigar in stealth. I went with the gunmetal Stealth I will admit because of appearance and lower price. I didn't like the appearance of the stealth automatic soft touch batteries.
