I think I must be doing a good job filtering those sorts of people out of my life because I can't think of a single person who even *would* give me lectures about my vaping.

Some people feel like they need to have an opinion on everything and are extremely uncomfortable feeling like they don't know everything about any given issue. I was having a completely pointless conversation about Obamacare with my father last week. His side was uninformed and opinionated. My side was simply uninformed. I left feeling like I am one of the few people I know who can feel ok just not having an opinion about something.

Outside of my father, though, if somebody annoys me with thier dumb personal opinions then I cease talking to them.

There's no one in my life that would lecture me about anything as well. You're right, there are some people who have to voice their opinions (whether they use facts or fiction to base them on) and it seems they're the type that just like to hear themselves talk. Their ignorance is their bliss perhaps?

If I feel annoyed by something a person is saying I raise one eyebrow and just stare at them for a while without speaking. When they're done with their tirade, rant, venting or whatever, they seem to feel better sometimes. It is, after all, all about them in those situations lol

Smoking is bad, mkay? Not smoking is good.

Wait! There's a third option now?! Smokers do something. Non-smokers don't. This new stuff is clearly about "doing something". It may not be smoking, but certainly isn't not smoking either. Does not compute. Can't be good for you, or me, or the children.

*Googling e-cigarettes + hazards*

"You know there's anti-freeze in that stuff, right? And you don't know what's in it? Right? Right? Stop it! Stop doing that not-non-smoking thing! Now!"

I just ended a 10 year friendship for the same reason. People with closed minds who refuse to read or even listen and then talk down to you as if you were mentally deficient for not agreeing with them. This particular person is not related to me and I decided enough was enough, told her off and then see ya, and that is the end of the friendship as far as I am concerned, I don't need toxic people in my life.
Sometimes you just have to accept that you are not going to change someone's mind and walk away. This person did not make me feel like I was doing anything wrong, she just showed me how ignorant and toxic she is.

There are people out there who will try to stop you. For whatever reason, they just cannot accept us vaping. They prove their ignorance by not even doing any of their own research. They just take the stance that ecigs are bad, and some of them have even made me feel like i am doing something wrong.

I know i must let it roll off my chest and keep pushing forward.

Vaping has saved me, just as it has many of us. That is probably why it affects me when others make me out to be some kind of a bad person when they see me vaping.

I try my best to educate without sounding like some kind of a know-it-all. I try to stay in my lane. But i will not hesitate to speak up for something that means so much to me. I feel better than i have felt in all of the 15 years i smoked.
Sometimes people think they are so perfect and they make you out to be the bad guy, but in fact, they are being verbally and emotionally abusive and they do not even realize that in fact they themselves are wrong.

Sorry just had to rant because i feel i have been attacked (in my personal life) for what i believe in.

I see a parallel with Dr Atkins.
His diet is founded on medical research with hard data to back up his theories.
Anyone who read his book will know that.
His diet could be a threat to the diet industry because it works; statistics back it up.
Many celebs are on a repackaged Atkins diet.
Media turned him into a laughing stock.
People who mock are completely uneducated on his diet.
If you ever go on a diet you can go on a frequently repackaged Atkins diet to avoid flogging from friends, family and strangers.
If you admit to Atkins diet you may be thought of as a crazy loon.

BTW: I'm not on a diet but know three people who lost weight on Atkins. Have not gained weight back after some years now. At first they shared their diet success to those who noticed their weight loss. They quickly learned it is a big mistake to mention the "A" word.

Small minds will ALWAYS try to stop something they don't understand. They can only affect you as much as you allow. Me, not stopping. Don't care who says what, their problem not mine. I will try to talk about it, but within seconds you can tell if they are listening or not. Most times that conversation just fizzles out when they pre-decide, I drop it.

The one thing that still surprises me to this day is that people are so quick to correct others but when it comes to correcting themselves, they won't have it. I got the same slack that I get vaping as I did when I smoked. I had people coming up to me, interrupting their day and mine, to tell me that smoking will kill me and that I'm sitting here and killing myself. Now, granted, I understand they were trying to do this in a "I want to save you" sort of manner. But there are some places people belong, and some that others don't. Personal battles are something that we all need to deal with on our own. Sure we might have the support of loved ones around us, but people who are so quick to tell you all about their opinions are really upsetting to me.

I was sitting outside a café the other day, vaping as it was outside and wasn't bothering anyone near me. A lady came up to me and told me that what I was doing was obnoxious. My response? "Oh, I'm sorry. The watermelon flavors are pretty strong. I can switch to vanilla." I'm not going to put down my device in a perfectly suited, café approved situation because some lady is offended that she's smelling watermelon vapor. I even got a compliment from a couple behind me with the smell and they inquired about it as the husband had been a smoker for years.

"Since we don't know the long-term negative impacts of unchecked prohibitionists, the prudent move should be to ban prohibitionists until further evidence proving their safety and efficacy has been published." (Steve K's Vaping World)
Well, they do seem to have had a rather pivotal role in the formation and solidification of organized crime. And as an indirect result, harsh tax codes and laws with which to go after said organized crime figures.

Smokers who rib me, are given the ironfist velvet glove, Joe Jackson essay, Force International, 80% of smokers lungs are transplantable link, Etc insights. They have made their choice, I have made mine. When they realize there is credible research to do, on their part, they have a tendency to put themselves in their own place for me. Topped off with unrelated blatant news media propaganda of the day, you can almost see the light bulb flicker on over their head.
There have been so many lies spewed (by the same ANTZ, imagine that) it's ridiculous. The important part to me, is getting the lies exposed, & hopefully dealt with once & for all.
If I see another American right to pursue happiness be over ruled, another veteran kicked out on the street, another family living in poverty because of severe taxing, another lie invented for greed, I will go insane..... er.

.

If someone just goes off on you about vaping, let them do it. Agree with them that yes, it would be better not to do it at all, but you find it to be a better alternative than smoking cigarettes. Agree with them, and you'll shut them up instantly. The world would be a much nicer place if people read more books on sales tactics and how to work with people.

Lambasting someone because you like vaping and they don't, well that will never work. You'll immediately shut them down to your opinions. Stay calm and cool. Hear them out, and ease in your own way of thinking. You'll be much more likely to have a good conversation, versus saying, "You're wrong, and here is why."

There was once a time in my life when someone like that would have gotten a cold stare and a "I wonder what your head would look like on a stick".

Nowadays, I may try to point them in the right direction, smile, and move on. I just don't have the energy to deal with that sort of...stuff anymore.

Ok, I might give them a "To prove you're not as stupid as your mouth says you are, you need to research why you're wrong".

I lost 60 lbs when his first book came out in the 70's and was able to keep it off for 30 years. Recently I've been able to lower my blood sugar with the Dr. Atkins Diabetes Revolution.

i think because people using these devices for other illegal purposes are giving us a bad name. when people see the device they automatically think about narcotics. all the "cool kids" are using these devices for other things, so parents and teachers, police see them and pass judgment instantly. even if you tell them its not what they think it is, your already put in that column. is what it is. as these devices become more mainstream and the more the "cool kids" get there hands them the worse its going to get. i let people think what they want, you know why? because i dont care. i couldn't care less what some dbag at a bus stop thinks, or some parent, or anybody. if they have a problem with it, then push for ban my dear and move on.
