So is this "halo" a flavor of juice, or a brand of flavors that you have fallen in love with?

Well, fallen out of love with them awhile ago. It is a vendor that makes quality lab juices. They have been proven, though, to be easily replicated. Some diligent DIYers put out their recipes like it was nothing at all to do. That was when I started researching juices that could not be replicated, and then I found out about Lorann's, Flavour Art, Perfumer's Apprentice, etc, and decided to buy the majority of my juices from vendors that made their own flavors.

E-Cigarettes | E-Liquid Made in USA | Halo Cigs

I don't know what Halo uses, but plenty of DIYers do. I paid, once, over 20 bucks for a 30 mL of Halo and a friend sent me what was damn near an exact copy of the same juice for free. To say I felt "screwed" for my original purchase is an understatement.

Don't get it twisted, I love people that create on their own!

Gas chrono/mass spec analyzers on the cheap? ain't gonna happen. ICPMS is even worse on the pocket. But good titration equipment is all that is really needed for nic content, and an accurate digital balance for everything else. (Weight % is more accurate than volume %). But then I'm not talking about any specialty extracts, just accurately blending juices and flavors.

It's a brand of highly recognized juices that contain some really good flavors. E-Liquid Smoke Juice Flavors | Halo Cigs

Halo juices are generally clean and focused in flavor, without the funny aftertaste you get with some others. I didn't like all the juices in my first sample pack from Halo, but Torque56 struck me with the feeling that I was out on the porch with a real cig. Prime 15 was a great tobacco flavor with a hint of sweetness that was just right. Tribecca was one that kind of attached itself to me with a little bit of sweetness and a hint of RY4 with caramel undertones.

I was thoroughly enjoying the Halo sample pack with a 306 drip tip while my wife and I were watching a movie on TV one Sunday afternoon. She finally turned to me and said, "What ever you are vaping has a stinky odor!". That was the end of those. You have to keep the peace sometimes. She says that certain of my Dekang flavors sometimes have a funny odor, but she still remembers the Halo Sunday!

I need to get her vaping and off the cigs. She tried vaping an eGo and a 510 for quite a while, but decided it wasn't nearly enough like smoking, so she gave up vaping and went back to smoking with a pack of cigs lasting her 3 to 4 days. We should all have had that kind of control over our smoking back when we actually bought cigarettes.

I'll keep to my, "stock up on 10 liters of 48mg concentrate nicotine, keeping them in my freezer" and let people who make good juice do just that. When, or if, there ever comes a time when it can't be made and cheaply purchased online...I'll start making my own instead of dabbling from time to time. Till then I don't mind paying money for someone else to do the work. :)

That's the way I feel also. I tried my hand at diy but have yet to come close to a Pirate's Booty or a Vurley so I just stocked up nic for a worse case scenario. There may come a day when I rue the fact that I complained about paying $15.00 for 30ml of a quality e-liquid.

As for the diy crowd, I salute you but prefer spending my spare time doing my own yardwork, cleaning my vehicle or maintaining my motorcycle. As someone previously stated, there is usually more than one area where money can be saved.

cheers

Somewhere out there
GL insurance isn't much, could probably fit into the deduction of $10 a day from the $180 profit selling only thirty 30ml bottles at $10 ea.
If they get sued, that's a different story and obviously a very rare case.

If a vendor's so popular they have to shut down to keep up w/ orders, they're probably making bank, six figures from any part of the country/world. Good for them.

Yes, I'm serious, thirty different 30ml juices mixed and put in addressed boxes/padded envelopes in about an hour and fifteen if they're quick.

I don't think you're even close to reality at 2.5 minutes per custom mixed juices on a small scale. I can imagine a large vendor being able to automate the process to get the time down, but unless the pg/vg/nic choices are very limited, custom blending is going to be labor intensive.

Plus the small e-juice vendors have the very real risk that impending FDA regulations will shut them down entirely. I'm sure many of them are just trying to make a few bucks while the opportunity is still there, since it may not be there tomorrow.

I'm trying to do do some DIY to keep costs down and because I like tinkering with stuff in general. Some of my one-flavors mixes are just fine, but I'm not sure I'll ever come up with anything good enough to replace my favorites that I buy commercially. And what I buy generally runs 7.50/30ml, BTW, not $15 or $20.

I overheard info I don't think I was supposed to hear today. Ejuice vendors have met with the FDA. Talks are happening. The general consensus from what I've heard: things look good. It's still up in the air, but I think we will be OK.

Grab a towel and Don't Panic.

Here & There
I have no worries about any of this as I DIY my juice and have for over 18 months. How other people/ vapers choose to spend their money is of no concern to me. I'd rather have my "pocket change" for other things in life. But thats just me and the beauty of the phrase to each his own. And my DIY juices are quite tastey it is not that hard to get it right if you are willing to put in the effort. As far as top of the line taste---that is so very subjective. I have recently been getting flavors from a vendor selling NET extracted flavorings which is about the only ones I cannot replicate at home.

I have totally heard this about them ( the smell ) but i vape outside my house anyway as my hubby is not fond of my vaping inside ..i know i know ;) but i have to say that i have had some way worse stink up my car .The thing is ,the menthols i have been chasing are THE best i have ever tried ,i kept getting the chemical aftertaste from all other brands i tried ,OR a total lack of flavor .I am in love with torque 56 after steeping ,people either love it or HATE it but thats why we always say taste is subjective in vaping ...for now it is my nirvana and i like knowing its made in the usa with safe ingredients .:)

Exactly. If they can manufacture for, as estimated, about $4 per 30ml and sell for anywhere from $7-$15, even $15 isn't bad, particularly when you consider most of these places are small businesses.

For some things, such as beer, it's worth it. I can brew 2 cases of really amazing stuff for about $20. Granted, it takes nearly a month before it's drinkable (depending on the type of beer), but if I keep a rotation going and don't give away too much, I've always got something fresh and delicious. With vape juices, yes it may work out to be less expensive, but there's side issues, not least of which being the pure nicotine. That is naaaaasy mojo if mishandled. Brewing beer, worst thing that might happen is a get boil over or contaminated brew, which just tastes gross. Screw up and ingest too much nicotine, and you're pushing up daisies.

I just thought about this when I read the title. I don't brew, but my gf does. (Unfortunately, she is brewing mead right now, which takes forever). You can definitely make a great homebrew for very little cost - but we also love to support craft beer and pay the money for Stone, Dogfish Head, etc. because we love what they put out. I haven't made my own liquid, but I feel it's the same thing. You can make something really good, for a lot cheaper - but sometimes there are other vendors who make great stuff too that you want to support - either for the convenience, taste or both.

my brother tried for quite sometime to make his own and he said it was not the same. Both of us are in the 60's age wise, and smoked for a long time. We are both at the 3 year mark for vaping and feel we owe a big thank you to our suppliers. What we spent on cigs is terrible and the cost of having a great juice from a super vendor is no where near the cost of smoking. I have not had any bad juice, just flavors I might not order again, but for the most, both of us are very happy with the service we receive and the good juices that we buy. We have helped alot of friends quit and family and they are having alot of good luck thanks to this forum and the great information it provides. Happy Vaping everyone, and if you make your own good for you, but I do not feel the vendors are doing anything but providing us with great product, at a very reasonable price. Grandma Sandy

DIYing juice is not for everyone. Those who can do it, save more money than those who don't. But even those who don't DIY save money over smoking not even to mention the health alternative. (Of course I am referring to necessary purchases not the uncontrolled hobbyist). It would have been worth it to me to save no money vaping vs smoking. It's just a bonus that now that I have the hardware I need (multiple PVs RBAs a dosen batteries and a few years worth of wick and wire), I spend 20¢ - 25¢ per day for juice to cover my wife and I.

Everyone's after the Holy Grail of juice recipes and most are still searching, including me. I wouldn't expect to find it by doing DIY, but I'm waiting for someone who is adamant about experimentation to do so. When they do, I want to buy some. ;)

DIY'ers may just be the ones who finally create the one juice that is perfect.
