Honestly, I'll bottom fill some of my tanks, if the top fill sucks. You can't exactly have a stern tank with the tank about how it is "designed" to work, if it works better the other way. Honestly, a great top fill is nice, bottom filling is also nice if topfill is going to take 10 vaping minutes to settle down.

I know how things "should" be, expecting them to so "be" is not always the greatest way to approach things. That particular tank, you can topfill if in 2 ml configuration, 4 ml, forget it. I happen to prefer the vape in the 2 ml configuration, so I just use that. Topfill has not been a problem and the tank is so "unthirsty" that I really don't care if I'm filling a bit more frequently.

I never got the whole top/bottom fill issue really. If I'm sitting around refilling my tanks, half of them are designed for bottom fill anyway. It's really not an issue to "add" one more into the mix.

I agree, it's sort of ireful to get a top fill tank you can't topfill. But, in the grand scheme of things, so much in life does not go as I believe it "should" I'm just going to waste my time arguing with a tank that "should" be topfill and isn't. It's not going to listen. It just really, really, is never going to accept my logic, so I just do what works.

For me, it's all about what works.

OK, OK....if I get too frustrated with the gurgling, I'll bottom fill this thing...and be happy there's no gurgling. :)

Up until a couple years ago, I bottom-filled every tank I ever owned because there was no such thing as top-fill. It's really not that big of a deal. I'm just spoiled by the OBS Engine I've been using for almost 2 years now. It has the easiest top-fill I've ever used, and never a gurgle or leak.

All that being said, I think I've solved the leaking issue by stuffing a little more wick into the channels, and the gurgling after a fill is a bit less as well. I think I'm starting to get the hang of the Berserker! :)

My house and car are much less foggy now...I think the foggy widow thing is going to be behind me now. ;)

The flavor seems to be much, much less than I am used to with my OBS engine DTL tank.

Yeti...are you using 70PG/30VG (or even 50PG/50VG) ejuice???

With either of them...tootle puffing at 8-10W...I get PLENTY of "clouds"...(with, of course, much less "VG film" on my windows)...

[Also, of course, with higher PG you'll get MORE flavor.]

The following has evidently helped some people when topfilling: After you fill the tank, screw the top on only enough for it to engage with the o-ring alittle bit. Don't tighten it all the way. Turn the tank upside down and hold it like that for several seconds. Then turn it rightside up and continue to tighten the top cap as normal, until it's fully closed.

I don't turn mine right side up before tightening the top. While it's upside down and the air pocket it at the top, just finish screwing the top section tight. I don't get flooding or gurgling. This is for the mini-B. I don't have the full size, so can't comment if it works OK for that one too.

AHA! Maybe that's why I still got some gurgling on the first 4-5 draws when I followed the suggested remedy. I'll try tightening it while it's upside down.

this method seems work on all of my top fill tanks. I have just gotten into the habit of doing it with each tank I have and does work. No matter who makes it.

OK guys,

After using the Berserker RTA over the weekend (got it on Friday), I thought I would report back.

I'm really enjoying this whole MTL thing! First of all, my juice consumption is pretty much cut in half...and will probably be even less considering I keep dropping my wattage. My house and car are much less foggy now...I think the foggy widow thing is going to be behind me now. ;)

I started with a ~1.5ohm coil around 20w...over the course of the weekend, I kept dropping the wattage to see if I was still satisfied. I'm currently at 12w and it's still working for me! I'm actually pretty astonished at this fact...

Overall, I'm really liking the Berserker...but I do have a couple of little niggles:
- It likes to flood every time I fill it, and subsequently leaks a bit. It never leaks except right after a fill. Maybe I can improve my wicking and reduce the gurgling/leaking, who knows.
-The flavor seems to be much, much less than I am used to with my OBS engine DTL tank. I have had to add about double the flavoring to my favorite juices and am still not getting quite as much of a flavor punch. I vape mostly unflavored (90% of the time) and basically get zero flavor from it now. :( I am using he 4.5ml tank...maybe the flavor is more pronounced with the smaller tank (?).

Thank you all for the help on this, I think I'm really and truly becoming a Tootle Puffer after many, many years of cloud chasing. I look forward to participating in this thread for many years to come! :)

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I raised my nic level from 3mg to 9mg. I went all the way to 12mg but that was too much, 9mg feels just about right. Might try to lower that to 6mg once I settle on a wattage and can calculate how much juice I am going through.

A few more days into my attempted Tootle-Puffer transition and I've already fallen off the wagon. :(

The Berserker was fine...I ameliorated the gurgling/leaking issues using the helpful tips from you guys (thanks!) and got it working as good as I can, but the lack of flavor was still disappointing. I had an old Kayfun 5 clone laying around so I threw a build in it and lo-and-behold, it gives almost the same experience as the Berserker (a bit more airy) with a bit more flavor.

But...the K5 was still very muted compared to my old DTL setup and after a couple of days with the K5, I decided to screw on the ol' OBS Engine last night and POW, there's my flavor back! :headbang:

Maybe I'm just not cut out for this Tootle-Puffing...not sure what to think right now.

Whatever floats yer boat Yeti. I have always been a tootle puffer, so have never been on the other side to see just what the difference is, for various reasons. I would imagine if your used to DTL, it would be difficult to go the other way.

Got to agree with you......I tried also and I just am not a fan. I was disappointed also.

I did go on to try the Siren and it gives much more flavor. It is, I suppose an mtl tank, but I have the airflow wide open and no complaints here. Lots of flavor and vapor with the slightest resistance. I would say that both the mtl tootlers and the dtl vapers would find this a very nice tank.

:)

One way isn't better than the other. But if you want to try it, maybe it's like coffee without sugar. That was back in the 70's but I still remember how painful it was and how long it took.

I don't know your reasons for this experiment. If you have a good reason I say, tough it out for a while before you give up.

good luck either way

I’ve pretty much always done both mtl and dl. You do give up flavor for mtl, but my purpose for it is stealth and size. My mtl tanks are tiny and work nicely with isticks (20s and 30s). Hold a charge all day, weigh next to nothing, easy on the pocket or purse. And I prefer them for driving.

I agree that neither way is better, just different. I like my dl for a big hit, especially in the morning with my coffee, or after dinner.

You might find some flavors are better mtl than others, too. For me, the coil killers ( I have some super sweet, gunky funky juices) are great in the Berserker because I can swap the cotton as often as I like, but also the drop in coils for the K1s are cheap so I don’t mind abusing them. I prefer toasted almond mtl as well. Just tastes better that way imho.

Some flavors, ones I can’t taste all that well, I use dl. Like blueberry. I love it, but I just can’t seem to get a big fat flavor out of it, not enough for mtl anyway.
