First time TP poster. I can't believe I finally caught up! I stumbled upon this incredible thread a couple of months ago, and I've been hooked since. Bravo to the creator(s) and everyone who contributed along the way. I didn't realize there was a name for my low power / MTL affliction.

So much high powered knowledge, about low power vaping. Started vaping almost 10 months ago. After a brief affair with a leaky, Lava starter kit. I realized vaping wasn't just a novelty, and was my ticket off the cigarette train, after 45 years of 1 to 2 packs a day. I quickly graduated to a Nautilus Mini & MVP 20. With that set up I was totally off the cigs within 3 days. I'm a tobacco lover, and unable to find a decent tobacco juice at any of my local vape shops, I jumped into DIY and have had wonderful results.

I loved the Mini (still do), but disliked having to buy coils, so I started building & wicking on a Subtank Mini. I received an evic mini kit for Christmas, and didn't give the Tron-S tank that came with it, much thought, for a month or so. I gave it a try, with the CLR coils and discovered I liked it, and have been using that since.

All the info in this thread, about the Kayfuns convinced me to try it. I picked up four Ehpro Kayfun Lite+ V2 tanks. They were just a tad tighter than I like, so I fired up the drill press and drilled out the air tubes to 5/64. Ooh la la... bingo! That put them right in my wheelhouse for draw and flavor. I might get 4 more and just stash them.

The Noob does not come to the thread empty handed. Hopefully this might help another Kayfun user. I read about a few folks having issues with the side airflow holes on the air tube, not aligning with the air holes on the base. While reassembling my 4 tanks after drilling & cleaning, I ran into that issue with one of the four. I tried flipping the positive block / post over and threading the tube in from the other side. Worked perfectly. I didn't see that mentioned (or missed it) so I thought I'd share.

Please pardon the long winded first post, and Happy Mother's Day to all the TP Moms.

Welcome Aboard Detroit Doug!

They just hauled the neighbor off in an ambulance. He'd eaten a bunch of pills and chased it with a pint of tequila.
I'm really considering loading up the notch coil and feeding it tonight!

Lets be glad someone found him in time at least we hope.

I did have a bit of a giggle this morning. I won a tesla III in the HealthCabin giveaway and I unboxed it. It's almost the same size as my billet boxes so I was quite pleased. Simple elegant design, wheel wattage adjustment. Then I put the dual 18650 batteries in it. I need more biceps to ever be able to use. Sadly it's minimum wattage is ten which is borderline for me so it has been passed across the table to hubby. Who thinks its perfect,

Maybe I will get one of my BB's back :p

Method in my madness or just clever planning. :p

Pardon if this has already been covered, but has anybody messed with making a Melo into a low-wattage MTL tank?

I recently got a Pico kit, but I prefer about 2.0 Ohms at 7-7.5 Watts. I have an ECR head on order, but I wonder if the airflow is still going to be too much. Would the Aspire 1.8 Ohm heads be a better option?

I'm curious of this as well. Seems most tanks like this are just too airy for MTL. I've worked with the aty on my Kanger Dripbox I can't get it there, I'm playing with a Theorum now, but it's so so for MTL with some fiddling.

If you like the Melo coils and have some old nautilus coils already you can switch the pins. This limits the air but sometimes they whistle. You need to limit the air through the size of the pin body. So if the pin is too small for the coil base then you need to find an smaller insulator that fits.

Actually let me go and check my facts. Are the Melo coils and the nautilus the same size.

No, Atlantis coils are compatible with Melo, Nautilus is a fair bit smaller, but your correct that the only way to effectively make it a half way decent MTL tank is to restrict the air at the coil head Just closing down the AFC generally yields not so great results. That and an appropriate build should make it halfway decent. I'd suggest a short piece of 5mm od x 2mm id PTFE tubing, should be able to find on FeeBay or Amazon.

Nautilus
3mm
2mm AF

Melo x
6mm
5mm AF

I remembered buying a Melo tank and thinking its coils were not what I wanted. Thanks for that.

A tip for all the Cerotank owners. HealthCabin has the Aerotank mega kits on special for $5 I bought them for the SS tube which fits the Cerotank perfectly. However they are great for spare parts. The glass and o-rings and top cap all fit. The only difference is the lower chimney on the Cerotank which is designed for multiple coil use.

A bargain basement spares kit for the Cerotank or a bargain basement clearo for people who like Aerotanks

kangertech aerotank mega glass clearomizer with upgraded bottom dual coils(adjustable airflow tank system)

Just realised that there is also 20% off that for the anniversary coupon.......so even cheaper
