If the EMP hits, vaping would be so far down the priority list it wouldn't be funny...Um, well, I do have mechs (and kicks and fuses) in my stash box for the vapocalypse and for when my many regulated mods eventually die (although the way I've prepped, that will be MANY years unless we're hit with an EMP).
But I disagree on your comments about mech users. Many like the simplicity and reliability of no electronics. No chips to fail, no screens to die. Just build to where it's a good vape in the middle of the battery voltage range, suffer some hot hits until a fresh battery drops its volts a bit...Add in the type of regulation used in some (mostly older) mods, and the pure DC voltage of a mech could give a smoother heat to the coil. Several reasons other than pushing the envelope for using a mech.
If it were just mech users who went for huge clouds, would there be 200 watt regulated devices? And any of those, with a 0.01 build and 5 amp batteries could be a bomb just as well... maybe not as likely, but.... stuff happens. Used to be some regulated mods didn't even have reverse polarity protection, so inserting the battery backwards would fry the device.
The stupid ones that push the edge too hard end up with a burnt face/hands and much scorn on social media...I read a few pages to catch up. I came very close to buying a mech back in the day at a retail shop. At the time I didn't understand the risks and was exposing myself to one so it was lucky I backed off. My concerns are settled if an electronic kick is added but the mech people like unregulated vaping BECAUSE it's risky and the real diehards get a thrill out of seeing what they can get away with. Besides protecting myself I'd like to be a good role model. I'm not going to be any part of the mech scene regardless of government regulations.
