I read a few pages to catch up. I came very close to buying a mech back in the day at a retail shop. At the time I didn't understand the risks and was exposing myself to one so it was lucky I backed off. My concerns are settled if an electronic kick is added but the mech people like unregulated vaping BECAUSE it's risky and the real diehards get a thrill out of seeing what they can get away with. Besides protecting myself I'd like to be a good role model. I'm not going to be any part of the mech scene regardless of government regulations.

A few days ago I put Arctic Fox firmware on a Pico, VTC mini, and a Mega. I use identical power settings on all three devices and make sure they behave the same as they did with stock firmware. What interests me right now is puff time, total puffs time, max watts and temp reached on each puff in TC mode. The firmware can be configured to display these. An rda fired with temp control allows a lot of different puff conditions depending on how much liquid is on the coil. I puff on a reletively dry coil a lot of the time and re drip when i want a few puffs of more dense vapor. I also want to know how much power I use for my 4-5 daily ml's. For that i got something called a Drok USB tester ($10 from Amazon) which records the total mAh used to recharge a battery. That should also give some idea of the health of the battery when it's not charging up to the original rated capacity as new. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J3JSEG6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Yesterday was mixing day. I made 200 ml for myself to last about 40 days, and 480 ml of the identical mix which I mailed to my brother who is being helpless and won't mix for himself--yet. Cost of ingredients for his batch according to my e liquid calculator was $5.23. The 500 ml bottle cost $1.29 from MFS, padded envelope and postage $4. If he bought the same from his previous mail order source the cost would be $80 plus shipping. And the cost from walk in retail? Frightening.

I have vape mail out for delivery today in the form of 4 all black SV rda clones ($25) which brings the total to 8 black SV's so i won't be running out of that stealthy part any time soon.

Um, well, I do have mechs (and kicks and fuses) in my stash box for the vapocalypse and for when my many regulated mods eventually die (although the way I've prepped, that will be MANY years unless we're hit with an EMP).

But I disagree on your comments about mech users. Many like the simplicity and reliability of no electronics. No chips to fail, no screens to die. Just build to where it's a good vape in the middle of the battery voltage range, suffer some hot hits until a fresh battery drops its volts a bit... ;) Add in the type of regulation used in some (mostly older) mods, and the pure DC voltage of a mech could give a smoother heat to the coil. Several reasons other than pushing the envelope for using a mech.

If it were just mech users who went for huge clouds, would there be 200 watt regulated devices? And any of those, with a 0.01 build and 5 amp batteries could be a bomb just as well... maybe not as likely, but.... stuff happens. Used to be some regulated mods didn't even have reverse polarity protection, so inserting the battery backwards would fry the device.

If the EMP hits, vaping would be so far down the priority list it wouldn't be funny... ;)

The stupid ones that push the edge too hard end up with a burnt face/hands and much scorn on social media...

Do not get a false sense of safety from regulated devices, do you remember the Cloupor Mini DNA 30W, many of those caught fire.
