Welcome back Chels
Got home from the St. Louis Vape Expo last night... er, this morning... at about 2:15 am. Brought home a bag, about a liter of e-liquid, a magazine, and more business cards than I care to count. Compared the Oklahoma event I attended 2 years ago, this was great! Wonderful! Superb! Splendid! Compared to some of the other events I have seen online, this was acceptable. I think the Oklahoma event suffered from bad timing as it was scheduled right after the FDA dropped the bomb. This event suffered a little IMO because of the venue... a fairgrounds... It lacked some of the glitz some of the other events I have seen (but not attended).
I'd like to say that the trip was uneventful, but it was not... a dog ran out in front of me while I was on a rural N. Arkansas highway and dog is no more. Front grill of The Wife's car is not quite there anymore either. Big dog, tiny car. If I were a butthead, I would have just kept on driving, but I'm not... and the dog was following her owner out of a driveway right as I passed, so... I assisted the owner in moving the dog inside and making her as comfy as possible. Damn! The owner told me that the dog was quite old and likely had cancer, so perhaps this was a mercy. Kinda made me a little morose for the remainder of the trip up...
Once there, I got to toodle around St. Louis a bit... saw the Arch and the Bridge and some of the architecture. Stopped at a couple vape shops just to chat. Got a haircut and shave. Checked into a "Classic motor lodge." That's code for really needs a lot of work to bring it up to standards. But, it was late in a town with an expo, so...
Saw a few people I know, but nobody from the forums. Bummer.
The only piece of hardware I came home with is the UD Cool Kit. It's a ridiculous, coil-focused Leatherman type multi-tool with wire snips, ceramic tweezers, various screwdrivers and coiling rods and a knife and file and bottle opener in a nice nylon sheath. I looked seriously at the Aspire Skystar Revvo kit and the Smok Mag, but decided against 'em. Sigh...
