Hey Tootle-Puffers!

Long time vaper, long time sub-ohm "cloud-chaser", considering becoming a Tootle-Puffer. :)

I just tried a Juul and am very impressed! The nic rush I get from it is like nothing I've ever experienced in my almost 10 years of vaping.

I understand the Juul is packing +50mg juice and it's that new-fangled "Salt" nic (or nic "salt" depending on where you look). But, whatever it has, I want more.

I have been DIY'ing my own juice for probably 7-8 years and I have a sample bottle of the salt nic on it's way to me from Nude Nicotine. I plan on mixing up some high-nic juice with it, but can't use it with any of my current (direct lung) RTAs. Can any of you recommend a MTL RTA that would work with the high-nic "salt" juice and give me about the same experience as (or better than) the Juul?

The Juul is great and all, but the pods are outrageously expensive and battery life is short. I would love to get the same MTL, higher-nic experience with a RTA and one of my current mods.

Just a couple of reasons why I think I may enjoy higher-nic tootle-puffing; I probably take in way too much vapor every day and sometimes I have a hard time getting a deep breath and am "phlegm-y" in the mornings, I'm tired of the windows in my house and car being constantly fogged up with vape residue and I go through about 20ml a day.

I've tried higher nic in the past in order to reduce the amount I vape, but it never worked because it was too harsh for me. I think this new salt nic is the key to high-nic vaping as it is much more smooth (in my admittedly very limited experience).

Thank you all for any advice!

Thanks Guys! The Berserker looks very promising, I went ahead and ordered one. :)

Since I'm new to the whole MTL thing, what kind of coils are you guys building on these RTAs, and how much wattage are you using? I typically just build single wire, 3mm ID Kanthal coils in the .4 ohm range and run it at 45 watts on an OBS Engine, direct lung. I mix my juice at 3mg, 50/50 but that can easily be altered.

Thanks again!

OK guys,

After using the Berserker RTA over the weekend (got it on Friday), I thought I would report back.

I'm really enjoying this whole MTL thing! First of all, my juice consumption is pretty much cut in half...and will probably be even less considering I keep dropping my wattage. My house and car are much less foggy now...I think the foggy widow thing is going to be behind me now. ;)

I started with a ~1.5ohm coil around 20w...over the course of the weekend, I kept dropping the wattage to see if I was still satisfied. I'm currently at 12w and it's still working for me! I'm actually pretty astonished at this fact...

Overall, I'm really liking the Berserker...but I do have a couple of little niggles:
- It likes to flood every time I fill it, and subsequently leaks a bit. It never leaks except right after a fill. Maybe I can improve my wicking and reduce the gurgling/leaking, who knows.
-The flavor seems to be much, much less than I am used to with my OBS engine DTL tank. I have had to add about double the flavoring to my favorite juices and am still not getting quite as much of a flavor punch. I vape mostly unflavored (90% of the time) and basically get zero flavor from it now. :( I am using he 4.5ml tank...maybe the flavor is more pronounced with the smaller tank (?).

Thank you all for the help on this, I think I'm really and truly becoming a Tootle Puffer after many, many years of cloud chasing. I look forward to participating in this thread for many years to come! :)

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I raised my nic level from 3mg to 9mg. I went all the way to 12mg but that was too much, 9mg feels just about right. Might try to lower that to 6mg once I settle on a wattage and can calculate how much juice I am going through.

I bottom fill mine and haven't had a leak or gurgle yet. I haven't tried the smaller tank, so can't comment on any differences. I'll probably try the smaller tank next time I re build tho.

Bottom filling would probably stop the flooding...but it's a top-fill tank, I want to fill it from the top and have it work correctly. ;)

Have you tried blowing down thru the drip tip to clear out any juice before firing it?

I usually clear it with the ol' "The Power of Christ compels you!" motion. :D

I was looking forward to having a decent topfill tank, too. But, if you stop to think about it...whether you topfill it (possibly getting gurgles, flooding, & leaks sometimes) or bottomfill it (with none of those happening)...you still have to remove a part to refill it either way.

I've always bottom filled both sizes of mine, after trying the below steps a couple times. It actually took me longer to do them than just going ahead and bottom filling. Plus, I still had some gurgling for the first 4-5 draws even though I carefully followed the steps. But bottomfilling, I've never had gurgles, leaks, flooding, etc., and I can also get a look at my coil and wicking at the same time, which I like. So, instead of the Berserkers becoming just a decent topfill tank for me, they've become way more than I'd imagined they would...which is my all-time, most favorite, tanks of any type! I'm very pleased with that.

The following has evidently helped some people when topfilling: After you fill the tank, screw the top on only enough for it to engage with the o-ring alittle bit. Don't tighten it all the way. Turn the tank upside down and hold it like that for several seconds. Then turn it rightside up and continue to tighten the top cap as normal, until it's fully closed.
