Shawn...I can see the possible attraction for a new vaper...who owns NO 18650's...(but may own a Ni-MH charger already)…

But...to a vaper (like yourself) who has a 1,000 18650's lying around...what would be its allure...(besides being a vapor "novelty")???

Convenience. Pocketing this, a spare coil, and a 30ml bottle of nic salts when taking a trip... Well, it takes up less space than a box mod alone. If the batteries die, every convenience store on the planet carries AA batteries.

Convenience. Charging 18650 takes a long time (comparably). AAs take no time at all.

Simplicity. A single button and that's all. Well, there is an LED...

So gather 'round, children, it's story time...

So 35 days and about 4 and a half hours ago, I smoked a cigarette, thought about it, and said to myself "screw this, I'm out". So I went to the convenience store and bought a Juul. Now as some of you may know, the liquid in a Juul pod has a metric load of nicotine in it.

So I quickly realized that buying pods constantly wasn't cost effective. I bought some high nic liquid, 54 mg, to refill the pods with. (I think maybe that's strong enough that I can't even name the vendor per forum rules...) Well then I realized that refilling Juul pods is a complete PITA, and still isn't cost effective. So I bought my Goby kits.

At first I vaped what I had, which was 54 mg liquid. Felt fine for maybe a week and then I started feeling sick from it. So I started diluting that stuff down to 36 mg. When I started DIY that's (roughly) what I've been mixing at as well. Well that worked fine for a bit but over the last week or so I've been realizing that that, too, is too much. Not so much feeling sick, but I get really tired when I vape it. Probably not a good sign.

Long story short is that I cut my nic back again tonight, to 24 mg. So a more normal tootle-puffing level. And I feel fine, so that's nice.

So in a little over a month I've cut my nic back by more than half. Maybe I was just vaping way too much before, but I'm still going to pretend that it's an accomplishment. Hooray!

I might stay at this level for a while, I'm fine with that, but I'm not going to complain if I get to a point where I want to cut it again either.

Just thought I'd share.

I never vaped anything higher than 24mg. Did that for about 4 or 5 years, then dropped to 3mg in increments. My juice consumption went to about 12 ml a day. Not bad, but when I mixed up some 12mg for daytime and 6mg at night, I cut my juice consumption down to about one 4.5ml tank a day.

That said, I think our bodies get used to any juice level after a while and we start to vape a little more often. Nic level is crucial. When I changed from a pack a day Marlboro Red habit to Merits I found myself smoking 2 PAD. A change to Merit Ultra lights and I was smoking 3 packs a day. The lower the nic the more I smoked. Less nicotine in an ecig juice usually drives us to vape more often.

At 12mg/ml I'm finding that I can actually put my mod down and walk away for a while if I want to. We'll see how long that lasts.

I was spazzing out for a second looking at a 2000 mAh AA battery until I read that they give 1.2 Volts each, lol. The description says that the device runs at 1.85 Volts continuously. With a 0.5 Ohm coil and very tight airflow I could see that potentially mimicking a cig really, really well. And as you said the convenience of the AA size would be a huge plus - I'm thinking especially to new vapers. This is really interesting.

The BFHN coils operate best around 1.85V. The mod is supposed to regulate it to 1.85 constant. They're saying around 800 puffs to a set of AA cells. The ego AIO ECO starter kit, with an internal 650 mAh battery is supposed to get around 350 puffs. YMMV.

ETA: for those keeping track, that's less than 7 watts.

My stealth vape is at 650 mAh and 1.4 Ohms. Lasts me about as long as a half a pack of smokes used to.

I think there's a fine line you have to walk. It's important to have a high enough nic level to be satisfied. And I may well find myself vaping more liquid at the lower nic level. But you gotta listen to your body and know when too much is too much. I think at 36 I was just getting too much too fast. At 24 I think I can still get enough to be satisfied (even if I have to use a little more liquid) but it will slow down the pace and make it harder to overdo it.

AA and AAA rechargeable batteries are usually NiMh cells. Those are rated at 1.3v each when charged. Considering that they are rechargeable, they are a deal for heavy users.

A standard Alkaline or Carbon Zinc type will start at 1.5v.

I think for that initial withdrawal from ciggys you go as high as you need to for the first 3 weeks, then work on finding your sweet spot after that.

I quit while vaping at 18mg but I was also using patches during the first 3-4 weeks (got them free). Dropped the patches, stayed at 18mg for another month, down to 15mg for 2 weeks then got to 12mg.

I'm still at 12mg now 2 months later and happy enough at this level.

Back when I started vaping and quit smoking, 24mg was common for those who smoked full flavor cigs. Light smokers were using 18mg juice. I had already dropped from Red Marlboros to Merits and then Merit Ultra Lights. Still, 24mg was what kept me off cigs the first year. Then several years later I started the reduction down to 3mg nic over time when I started DIY. I vaped 24mg for several years.

Everyone is different, but I'd recommend staying in the high nic range until cigarettes aren't even a thought in your mind. Then, you can start dropping nic levels in your juice. Don't rush it.

I'm really tempted to grab it, and a AA charger that comes with a couple of batteries. Maybe if my current stealth set up goes belly up. I don't know - I really like it. The only problem I've ever had with my Vaporesso Aurora was an ID10T Error. Had it in my pocket when I was dowsed with 100's of gallons of olive brine. No bueno, DOA, got another one.

When I was in Italy I was surprised to discover that the real Italian puzza is so different from the American version. Loved it

Yeah, it's really delightful here, and yes that's grilled eggplant with some fresh mozzarella and bits of fresh tomatoes on top of it all.
The pizza is very different from city to city (so I'm told, I'm not an expert.) Roman is a crispier crust than Neapolitan, I've heard. Doesn't matter, i'm sure they're both delicious. I know the one here in Rome is. This is just a neighborhood pizza place, not (according to the foodies) among the very best in the city. Here's pic of the neighborhood bakery, also not the best in the city. But, both are so good. This place leans to crostata (simple crust, simple toppings with a lattice on top.) What you see on the bottom shelf are strawberry, ricotta with chocolate bits, fresh pear, ricotta with I-can't-remember-what, and fresh apple. Roman cuisine tends toward the simple, but using fresh in-season ingredients.
Oh, and the pieces missing, well, I ate those.

I've heard nothing but good things. And it looks slick. But if I get one I'll need to get a couple of 18650s and a charger, which is one of the reasons I'm hesitating. More stuff to buy and more research to do.

We are driving to Albq. New Mexico tomorrow morning to spend a week there, and it seems that my biggest dilemma is deciding which 4 of my 18 pv's to take.
So far I think it's going to be a Jac w/ a doggy, Lost Vapes w/a Berserker, Billet Box w/ Naughty Mini adaptor, and a Hcigar Inbox w/ Berserker RDA, and a Provari Radius with a Vika Fantasy. Oh wait, that's 5 pv's, oh well, I guess that's what it'll be. I'm tired of trying to decide, so I'll go with that. I'm just trying to hold it to a minimum.
We have a smoking room at Days Inn,and was surprised to find motels that still have them. Of course the room will stink, but I'd rather deal with that than deal with not being able to vape while in the room.
The wife is taking lot's of air freshener, tho it won't help much.
We Have Samsung smart phones with T-Mobile and have added the phone hot spot to our plan for a month so we will have a decent internet connection, so that is taken care of. I couldn't go a week w/o ECF, and all you good folks.
The wife says she is only taking one suitcase, man, I'll have to see this to believe it.

I too have vaped in non-smoking rooms without issue. But I can tolerate a smoking room so if I was worried about it I could live with it.

18 mods. I'm pretty sure I don't have that many even if I count old eGo batteries and such that I bought back in the day. Quite a collection. And you still use all of them? I guess you do if you're having trouble deciding which ones to bring...

Enjoy your trip! You're driving from CA I assume? How long of a drive is that?
