Tried a Stardust, want something better?

You're not alone Vchick....sometimes the knock-offs are getting knocked-off before they can hit the street.
I think MiT complained about betterlife naming their product a CE3 and it looks like they are going to change the name to CV3 or something similar.

Skelley...........Probably, I get lost with all of the knock-offs and such. I have several of the covers I pried off another vendors version, so I like the fact I can just get the inners and that I've had no cracking issues with these tubes. ;)

Agreed! I got version 1, and it was just outright bad. After watching a youtube vid on disassembly, I pulled out my nichrome and cotton yarn and made my own coil and new long wick, and it performs significantly better now.
Have no tried any stardusts but from reading, there are actually 2 versions of it. The first has the short wicks, if you are using that one you might try version 2 which has remedied that design flaw with the longer wicks.

I think this could be why there are such mixed reviews. Not many vendors carrying V2 yet and the people with the first version are all "this sucks".

Still think I'll hold of on the 3ml Phoenix tank, still seeing people needing to crazy modding with wicks and such, not ready for that.

However, I'm breaking my rule of waiting for the second run and jumped in on the new top coil Phoenix. Mostly because I like the idea of a warmer vape like the stardusts.

Guess will see how it goes.

It looks like a CE2 with a flat base.
I'm not a fan of that top seal design and as much as I've tried, I end up modding them with the older CE2 doughnut seat.
I have some CE2 clearos from MiT that have that same whistle tip. If you look close in one of the pics, you will see part of the tip base is notched. This tip will not stay in place and falls out, not an issue since I use my own.
I've also noticed that the clear tubes seem to crack and split when using my own tips.
I wonder who the manufacturer is.

I would try out the Fluxomizer Supremes or, my personal favorite, the Phoenix (or CE3 XL). The Fluxomizer might have a little more flavor and a bit more warmth to the vapor, but the Phoenix is leak proof and just works without any fiddling. The flavor and TH is still perfect for me. The CE2+ (flux supreme), requires a tad bit of fiddling with the silicon nipple to make it work perfect.

I also noticed the same issue with the Stardust. If mine are fully filled, I get no flavor. From 80% to 40%, the flavor is great and after that is just dies again. So, I end up filling more often than needed. The CE3 XLs I vape till their empty and they have the same flavor and vapor.

bigpman - how is the flavor with the Phoenix as compared to the Stardust? If I order the Phoenix should I go with the top coil or bottom coil?
I have the CE2 XL Clearmoizers 2 were DOA, 3rd worked till I took it apart to clean it now it leaks and doesn't have a good draw. Just opened the 4th CE2 in the box and for now it is working good, nice flavor, TH and draw (until I clean it lol).
I got some X7 CE3 Smokymizer XL but do not like them b/c every other vape give a burnt taste (even if I tilt them to coat the wick).
Saw your post on the Phoenix and it looks promising. Does it have an easier draw than the Stardust? Is it easy to take
apart and clean? And after you take it apart to clean it does it still work like new?

The flavor on the stardust, when optimal, is a little bit stronger. To me, the stardust just isn't stable with the flavor, sometimes it's amazing and sometimes it just stinks. The Phoenix, or CE3 XL, is consistent on the flavor and vapor from the first draw to the last. It's just great! Even after multiple fills and cleanings. I continue to say CE3 XL, because I got mine from Vapor Alley (Discount Vapors also carries the same, except they left out the XL part) but everyone says they are exactly the same from the 3 vendors, so pick your favorite and go with it. I know GV is now back in stock on the Phoenix. I am talking about the bottom coil here, of course, as the top coil just came out today or last night.

The draw on these is really smooth. It has more airflow than the Stardust, to me that is a plus. I do not like a tight draw.

In regard to cleaning. I actually clean all my clearos before I vape on them. They are really easy to clean and put back together. I think I already mentioned that I also pull up on the coils and make it level with the slots to improve vapor. I strongly recommend these to anyone for a care free vape. remember, though, you will need a syringe to fill them and always fill them upside down and empty. I do also have a trick to fill them when half way, but I am a little short on time tonight, so let me know if you get them and care to know:)

The top coil I have on order and should have next week. If it doesn't leak, which the bottom coil never does for me, I think it should be amazing. I see it having a warmer vape with the coil being on top and the cup and coil are identical to the BC, so the flavor should be the same...hopefully. I will post a review once i get them and give them a few days.

They are just $12 or so with shipping, give them a try, I think you will be happy. Hope this helps

I also have a bunch of Stardusts that I've been using for about a month or so now, but I think I want to try something better. I really like these things, but yea, their vape is pretty inconsistent for me. Some of the flavors do taste muted on random drags and sometime I'll get a really dry hit that makes me cough. I do really like the looks of these, so I'm hoping in the future there will be more improved versions of Stardusts. I think I'm gonna give these Phoenix clearos a try. Are they just as easy to use/clean as Stardusts and can they be reused several times? Does the coil being on top or bottom make a big difference? Also, which part exactly IS the coil? Do you use your own drip tips with these or is there some kind of included one that you should use?

Somewhere out there
I am using these and like them alot. Kanger 2ohm EgO Clear'o'mizer

I also tried Phoenix, when they work they are fabulous, but out 7, only 2 worked for me, so went to the Kanger above and no problems. Your juice needs to be thin tho for the Kangers. Filling the Knager takes some learning, but easy enough once you filled one. bnrk

I have purchased at least 5 packs of the CE3/CV3's and if I get a dry hit, all I have to do is pinch the top seal and rock the center post.
This will raise the post slightly allowing more juice to the wicks.
This method has solved any issues I have had with them.
Some file the post base to give the wicks more room, but thinner e-liquids will tend to flood the atty.

There is a long post in the 808 section HERE. It started out with 808 items, but since 510 versions come out first, it morphed towards 510 using 808 adapters. There is a lot of discussion on many clearos as well as modding & repairing.

My recommendation would be either the Phoenix bottom coil XL cartos, or one of the sizes of visions extremes. Those are the easiest, best tasting clearos out right now IMO. Oh, and the visions extremes last easily a month each. Haven't had the phoenix long enough to say how long they last, but have been using some of them over two weeks now.

Yes, the Vision Extremes give me good tasting vapor and tons of it.
I just wish they used a rubber o-ring seal instead of the glue on the base.
They also have a true easy fill seal as others like to claim.
It's just that darn top seal is a pain to set from time to time. It's either choking the wick or flooding, but once you get it set you're golden.

Just cleaned 2 of my Stardusts out today and I have to say, the performance on this thing continues to drop. I can barely taste the flavor of my juice and I feel mouth lines forming from having to suck too hard to get a decent drag. I ordered some of the new Phoenix top coil clearos. Hope these will do the trick! I actually feel like I haven't REALLY gotten to try any of my juices for what they really are due to the muted taste now.

With the Stardust/V2, I also immediately noticed the muted/plastic flavor when I used them.

A quick solution to that would be to use them with the plastic mouthpiece removed. It really makes a world of difference. I'm 99% sure that the mouthpiece on them is too close to the metal which is what is causing the bad/lack of flavor. Now, when I use my V2 Clearo I always vape out of it with the black mouthpiece/tip removed (unless I'm driving).

I'd like to try to CE3 as well as I've heard great things about them regarding flavor. Will the eGo cone fit over them though?

I just got my first Twist and this thing will bring anything to life. Some of my older stardusts are now performing like new again:) Not sure if you have a VV device, but this is the way to go!
