Tried a Stardust, want something better?

I'd like to try to CE3 as well as I've heard great things about them regarding flavor. Will the eGo cone fit over them though?

I would say no as my KGO big bore cone barely clears and stiffens the draw somewhat also.

I just got my first Twist and this thing will bring anything to life. Some of my older stardusts are now performing like new again:) Not sure if you have a VV device, but this is the way to go!

My very first PV was a lavatube, I have other standard and big batts also for backups, but after using VV, I don't see how anyone couldn't have a VV batt in their arsenal.
Just the simple fact of dialing the volts to get the best flavor from the e-liquid is reason enough. Not to mention that you don't have to worry about finding your favorite LR device for your standard batt.
I just buy what I like and get it in 2.4-3.2 ohms and don't worry about "out of stock"

I had an epiphany last night. I am going to take my cone, that barely fits over my CE3s, and drill two tiny holes about half way up the cone on the sides. This should allow sufficient air to come in and still keep the clearo nice and sturdy in the cone:) The hole should be barely noticeable...

The KGO big bore cone fits over both, but it doesn't allow hardly any air to pass with the CE2 fluxos.
Since the tube is thinner on the CE3's, air will pass, but barely. So the draw is stiffer.
I just use a short cone as it covers the threads, but doesn't affect air flow.

I just found my first annoying part about the stardust. The one I am currently using has a nice crack on the side. It has now started to leak just a hair, but I assume this leak will get bigger and bigger, unless I figure out a way to seal it. Maybe a dab of superglue on the outside...

The other one I am using has a similar crack, but no noticeable leak yet..

My TC Phoenixes should be here today! :) :)

The flavor on the stardust, when optimal, is a little bit stronger. To me, the stardust just isn't stable with the flavor, sometimes it's amazing and sometimes it just stinks. The Phoenix, or CE3 XL, is consistent on the flavor and vapor from the first draw to the last. It's just great! Even after multiple fills and cleanings. I continue to say CE3 XL, because I got mine from Vapor Alley (Discount Vapors also carries the same, except they left out the XL part) but everyone says they are exactly the same from the 3 vendors, so pick your favorite and go with it. I know GV is now back in stock on the Phoenix. I am talking about the bottom coil here, of course, as the top coil just came out today or last night.

The draw on these is really smooth. It has more airflow than the Stardust, to me that is a plus. I do not like a tight draw.

In regard to cleaning. I actually clean all my clearos before I vape on them. They are really easy to clean and put back together. I think I already mentioned that I also pull up on the coils and make it level with the slots to improve vapor. I strongly recommend these to anyone for a care free vape. remember, though, you will need a syringe to fill them and always fill them upside down and empty. I do also have a trick to fill them when half way, but I am a little short on time tonight, so let me know if you get them and care to know:)

The top coil I have on order and should have next week. If it doesn't leak, which the bottom coil never does for me, I think it should be amazing. I see it having a warmer vape with the coil being on top and the cup and coil are identical to the BC, so the flavor should be the same...hopefully. I will post a review once i get them and give them a few days.

They are just $12 or so with shipping, give them a try, I think you will be happy. Hope this helps

thx bigpman I am going to order the Phoenix Topcoil- and give them a go. I see GV has them in stock. I have a syringe
already which I use for my CE2 XL's. My family made some tart comments when they saw that syringe on my desk. lol I do want a clearo that is consistent and won't mute the flavors. My CE2's the ones that worked I am happy with. Hoping the Phoenix will be a step up from the CE2's. (*;*)

Still think I'll hold of on the 3ml Phoenix Tank, still seeing people needing to crazy modding with wicks and such, not ready for that.

However, I'm breaking my rule of waiting for the second run and jumped in on the new top coil Phoenix. Mostly because I like the idea of a warmer vape like the stardusts.

Guess will see how it goes.

I'm a 3yr vet at vaping & being a newbie now is much harder due to all the choices you have now. Back in the day, we had to carry juice bottles around to drip or cotton filled caps (cartridges). Watch the reviews carefully before you buy & the rule "Buyer Beware" applies to everything vaping. I have tons of crappy cartomizers that didn't work as advertised. It seems there's a new carto or new "revised" carto, on the market every week. As for the new Phoenix or CE3 XL's (imo), I the understand & like concept upon which its built. In other words, I like the fact that it has no wires, the coil is on the bottom so that all the juice is used & the juice doesn't change colors or get darker as I vape. The air flow tube (in the middle), is metal instead of plastic, its leak proof & uses the laws of gravity by filling it upside down. I normally stick to my 2.0 Boges in my Liquinator. It seems no matter what new carto I try... I always whined up going back to my tanks, but these Phoenix/CE3 XL's both top & bottom coils are awesome when they're working properly but the stats on the forum say only 1 or 2 out the box work from GV but the CE3's from VaporAlley has had fewer problems. In my experience, THIS FORUM is the best place for the TRUTH

Ok, here is my modified cone. I had to use a marker and push it down the top to stretch the opening a tiny bit. I then punched (I couldn't find my small drill bits) two holes into the cone, one on each side. The picture shows the eGo Twist with a CE3 XL and a modified stock cone. The CE3 XL is still a little tight to push down through the part with the seals, as they expend the tube a bit, but it liveable. I recommend using a drill so that you do not push the cone in where the holes are. The airflow is perfect for me:)

Its funny how you mention going back to old trusted products.

I tried the new Phoenix Top Coils and they just were not my bag. My blueberry tasted at best "mildly" better in the flavor dept. and vapor production was also comparable to my old Stardust. My French Vanilla Cappuccino was actually a worse, more muted flavor. Not sure if was an inconsistency with the different ones in my 5 pack of Top Coils. If found them more of a pain in the .... to fill, they went through juice quicker, and had some minor leaking issues (even after I figured out how to fill them properly). I would get the juice coming back through the fill hole or out the coil assembly with hard draws. They were also gurgley as hell at times.

It just didn't go over well.

I have a Stardust that is 6 weeks old that just seems to perform better flavor wise. Ive cleaned the thing probably once a week.

Ive seen that Got Vapes has newer Stardusts with longer wicks, I think I'll give those a try when they are back in stock.

I don't like how the juice changes color when it gets to the bottom and I feel the need to refill at about 0.8ml, but hopefully this new longer wick design will fix that up.

I just like how the Stardust feels and looks on my Kgo. It looks like it belongs there. The Phoenix just looked awkward, even with a cone and was a good inch or so taller than the Stardust.

Overall, I just found myself going back to old reliable (even though I have barely scratched the surface of whats out there). I think I stumbled on a good thing with my first Carto style, guess the weeks of research on ECF paid off before I made my first order ever.

Very glad I found this place.

I had to write this about Discount Vapers............. I placed my order for the CE3 XL's on June 6th at 12:32pm, they're having issues with credit card payments so you have to go thru a third party service like Paypal, WePay, or Dwolla (I used WePay) to pay for your order, after you receive your invoice via email. To my surprise, by or rather at 2:36pm the same day, two hours later..... my order was shipped & I received my package today ! Not sure how these CE3 XL's work yet, because I tried them thru a friend that gave me 1. That "1" worked great, aside from the break-in period which was after 1 fill, it worked flawlessly. I will write & do a video review after a few weeks with it. Most of the reviews I watched online, did first impressions of them & that's great, but I wanted to know how they work in the long run, how many work out the box, do they require a break-in period or fiddling, which is better bottom or top coils & etc... Most of the reviewers got theirs free to do the review. I don't care who does the reviews, common sense tells me; if someone does a bad review, more than likely they won't get anymore freebies..... so I feel someone with no personal interest should do an honest review.
Now back to Discount Vapers.... Frikk'in Awesome ! Its very rare to get your order shipped the same day you placed it. That all by itself is Awesome service & will make me a repeat customer. I wish all the vendors worked this fast & followed their example. Now I'm gonna go put these CE3's thru the ringer & I'll post my findings as I go. Job well done DiscountVapers! Keep up the great work...
I couldn't

That's news to me, and everyone else who has been using the Phoenix XL bottom coil from GV. There are multitude reviews of the Phoenix on YouTube, along with other sources, most coming from GV, and I have heard nothing to back up what you are saying. The worst I have heard is that occasionally there is top plug that doesn't quite fit right and there is some leaking. GV sells extra plugs for $0.49.

I have to wonder what your motivation is for telling such an outrageous lie. I can't venture to guess, but it can't be good.

Been using the ce3s for 3 weeks and they just continue to perform without issues, love them! DV is an amazing vendor with fast shipping. I'll use them everytime they have a product I want. Stardusts are good but the ce3s are better imho.

I think that GV sold more Phoenixes than all the other vendors combined selling CE3s. Most people are inclined to post a bad review over a good one, so it might seem that GV had more problems than the others. The truth is that they all come from the same place, therefore the amount of bad ones from each vendor is about the same. The Ce3 is an amazing clearo and I didn't have one bad one from the 10 I own. They came from two sources...

I had major problems with Phoenix bottom coil clearos, 2 out of 7 worked, I still have more to try so maybe they odds will get better or worse, who knows. When they work they are fabulous, but they don't always work. bnrk

Sorry to hear that. What kind of major problems did you encounter with the BCs?

I have 3 out a of pack I have tried so far from GV and they all work just fine, no problems. In fact after trying the fluxos, sapphires, and vision nano extremes (the best of the rest), without a doubt the Phoenix are well above the rest. No leaking, no tweaking (some folks do but it is unnecessary, and I wonder if that's what causes problems for some of those that do), easy to clean, and if they last as long as the vision extremes they will last a long time.

They are so straight forward and easy to use I have to wonder what is being done to screw them up.

Stubby, I 100% agree with you. These things are very hard to mess up unless you don't fill them upside down. Otherwise they work amazing out of the box.
