This device looks very interesting however I was wondering how much the increased power shortens the lifespan of the atomiser?

No effect at all if you keep a light finger on the button:) The voltage is the same but you can overcook the atomiser if you press too long, you used to the action quickly.

I even theorize that the SD might prolong the life of an atomizer. I may be wrong, but it seems to me that the better/stronger power may keep the atomizer burning more cleanly, and thus there is less buildup of the gunk that everyone talks about having to clean out. I haven't had to clean mine at any rate, and I've been using the same atomizer in my SD since I got it the first week in December.

same here, still using the first atomizer. i have given it one or two 10 second power bursts for a little clean and it's still going strong. :)

Started to read through this thread, commencing on page 17. Read as far as page 14 and had had enough of reading the posts of certain members, ably supported by fans, angling for freebie Screwdrivers. Unelected "official testers" they may be but does it need testing. In my opinion no. It looks the business, and having bought one for myself I bought one for my wife a few days later. I saw a picture of one on this forum and that was enough for me. Like they say, "If it looks right, it is right". By the way is it the most expensive? Not from what I've seen on the web, and when it comes to quality they are not in the same league as the Screwdriver.
All I'll be doing from now on each night is pop two batteries on charge, top up a few carts for each of us and we're both set for the next day. Worth the money just for the elimination of the aggro factor. Oh, by the way, I own a Blockstone Quarry and suffer the same sort of hassle with regard to freebies so you'll maybe understand why I may seem a little short on patience where ithis is concerned. Personally I can't wait for Screwdriver Mk2, 3........... Cheers All , Bob

Been using mine for a week+ now, nothing can compare. Ive owned an epuffer super mini, janty mini fogger and a penstyle generic I gave away as a present (kit). Now I own just the Janty dura and the SD and a 901 usb passthru. The Dura gets no more use, it sits in closet in a case to be used by guests. The 901 passthru sits at pc always ready to go, I just sit down, unscrew atomizer from SD and screw it onto the passthru. If I'm goin to be away from pc for long bit, do the reverse. Got extra 4 pack of batts and dual charger, so Im prob set for batts for SD for 3 months or so. Now I have two APC power packs coming for the passthru to be used a little more often come spring (will be perfect for streetbike). I would use the SD while cruising on the bike, but I would DIE if I dropped it, so the passthru will work better (tethered), Ill just keep the apc in my insde leather pocket and wear the passthru like a necklace, vape while cruising all day long.

I have had the screwdriver for a few months and although I liked it from the beginning I just couldn't seem to get really into it. I also had the pen and got a usb passthrough and a passthrough for the 901. I used them but seemed to fall off for the last few months. But the last few days the screwdriver hasn't left my hand and I don't see it leaving my hand anytime soon. I was totally smoke free for a little over a month then hurricane ike hit and it totally screwed up my system and I went back to the analogs. The last few days I have had maybe 4 analogs a day and even though I have used my usb passthrough with my 901 atomizer I have used mostly the screwdriver and I am loving it. I always liked it but now I am totally loving it. It produces an amazing amount of vapor and I take it with me everywhere I go. I always used it at work because as a nurse it was easy to put in my pocked and there is no smoking on the hospital grounds where I have been working.

I know part of the reason I stopped using it so much is because I was having trouble making it work when I needed it. It would give a good hit once then would stop so I thought it was a problem with the switch but I got some new batteries and now it works like a dream. I am so impressed with it. I have used many of the models out there, the pen, the 901, both of them with batteries and the passthrough, the kissbox, the 'great white' the pilot, the pipe and the cigar. The pipe is the only thing that comes close to the screwdriver as far as vapor and battery life, but I like the screwdriver better.

Another difference I have noticed and I am not sure why (basically because I am mechanically STUPID) is I can use the same atomizer, the same cart and the same liquid but on the passthrough it makes my throat burn but not with the screwdriver. The more I use the passthrough the more irritated my throat gets. But with the screwdriver it is smooth with no irritation. It is almost like it is getting too hot with the passthrough. I don't know. All I do know is I can use the screwdriver all day, about 4 or 5 hits and then a break for 2 or 3 minutes so it cools down and then again with no problem but the usb makes my throat hurt after the second puff. And the battery lasts me about 6 hours like this, or with a few hits when I can sneak in the break room or the bathroom at work one battery lasts me a full 12 hour shift and then a couple hours when I get home.

All I know is I am increadibly happy with it and do not see myself not having it in my hand anytime soon.

I'm very glad to see this thread brought up again. I think that the Screwdriver is (still) the best. Kit's review is still invaluable today. It is a good optiion and should always be considered by a serious smoker. Good to give vaper's old and new the information so they can make an informed choice.
