Robin/C-Dub, Voo doo pick up some Voodoo Doughnuts on your way over? :)

Portland is slightly out of the way

I wasn't that thrilled with Voodoo Doughnuts, but that's just me. I'm not a sweet food type person. Some of those others...couldn't quite bring myself to try. The line was OUTRAGEOUSLY long.

With or without the bacon? We got in line and then the husband chickened out. :grr:

Having the crunchy bacon on top is an ABSOLUTE NECESSITY.

Chickening out on the bacon is grounds for divorce in some states.

Yep, they do a good business. The line moves fast though, they're usually very efficient.

I think anyone who's been married for any length of time understands that just because you CAN do something, doesn't necessarily mean it's worth the consequences ;)

I always thought it was too bitter and slimy...But a Cajun taught me a trick for the gumboz...Instead of putting it straight into the Gumbo while it is simmering, he had me bake it for 45 minutes at 350 degrees and add it later...problem solved!

Cut off their heads and soak the okra in salted water for about 30 mins. All the slimyness comes out. Rinse and you're good to go.

Okra ? Ugh !!

Snot Pockets !

Yeah that is how I felt about it too Classy...but the Cajuns think you are being sacrilegious if you leave it outta the Gumboz....People have gone missing for less in the Bayou....

You can't make no Gumbo without the Okra you!
