No ... don't click the button ... we don't need our speech governed ... ;)

Then why Doesn't someone Start a New Thread relating to the Political Side of Deeming? Then People can go at it as Much as they Want. And it wouldn't Effect a Thread about what TVECA has released.

Sorry...

I was just trying to make a point about what the FDA can do in order to enforce their regulations. And we're not some innocent Amish goat farmers. We're all drug users, in their eyes.

The FDA needs to be constantly reminded that they must tread lightly, not stomp around like a herd of elephants crushing everything in their path. A good example is their attempt about a year ago to ban the aging of cheese on wood. It's been done that way for centuries and most of the world's best cheese is aged on wood. Nevertheless:

The American Cheese Society released a .PDF version of the statement by FDA’s Branch Chief Monica Metz, the chief official responsible for food safety issues involving cheese. In that document she stated

The use of wooden shelves, rough or otherwise, for cheese ripening does not conform to cGMP requirements, which require that “all plant equipment and utensils shall be so designed and of such material and workmanship as to be adequately cleanable, and shall be properly maintained.” 21 CFR 110.40(a). Wooden shelves or boards cannot be adequately cleaned and sanitized. The porous structure of wood enables it to absorb and retain bacteria, therefore bacteria generally colonize not only the surface but also the inside layers of wood. The shelves or boards used for aging make direct contact with finished products; hence they could be a potential source of pathogenic microorganisms in the finished products.

FDA Backs Down In Fight Over Aged Cheese

Following a massive industry and consumer outcry, the FDA was forced to back down. In fact, they pretended that they had never intended a ban, but had merely expressed "concern."

Hello Ladies,
My name is Melody, originally from Bronx, NYC... But I've been living in Hampton VA the last 13 yrs...
I survived an Aortic Aneurysm July 4th 2009 after smoking a pk a day for 30+ years.. Since my Aorta split 2.5 cm from my heart, down to my pelvis, I suffer with severe nerve damage from the waist down & I've been vaping since Nov/2009 and never looked back.
Whew!! Now that that's out of the way...;) I hope this isn't a bad time to join a new group, but I find myself bored out of my mind...
More often, than not & unable to jog or work it off in a gym.. I'm drawn back to the ECF... I've got 6yrs vaping experience that I'm willing to share, as well as learn some new tricks... I build almost daily & to be honest.. I'm waiting on the mailman to deliver my new Coil Master 521 Tab  Yeah, I know I'm a little late getting 1, but everybody was sold out, even China... lol
AnyHoo, I'm pleased to meet you all & I'm hoping every1 is enjoy'in Happy Vapes, as I am...

We're delighted to have you here. This thread is about the politics surrounding FDA regulation of e-cigarette products. (Just kidding). Feel free to chime in.

We agree!! It's political.

No. We Don't.

Because who Holds the Majority in the House and Senate? And why Can't we get the Grandfather Date Changed thru Legislation?

Seems like there are Elected Officials on BOTH Sides who aren't exactly Pro e-Cigarettes.

As someone up above already said, this is an inherently political issue. Avoiding the political philosophy underlying the motives of decision makers is just another embodiment of PC.
But that is not what has been happening. What has happened is a few people have been using these threads as a spring board for there political agenda. Pointing that out has nothing to do with political correctness. It has everything to do with effective actions on the current reality rather them pushing some utopian vision.

Do we not use wood for making kitchen utensils, cutting boards, and building
because of its antibacterial properties?

Unfortunately.....It is a political issue. Big government knows what is best for us with all of their top down regulation of everything. We all know about Big Business, Big Pharma, lobbyists, Non Profits, special interest groups etc...It is about EVERYTHING EXCEPT OUR HEALTH. I have never been so bitter. The population as a whole trust FDA, CDC, Tobacco Free Kids, ACS....list goes on and on.
A change in leadership is mandatory at this point.

Government has taken over in a big way!

Same here. I'm feeling quite bitter myself. And finding it increasingly difficult not to go off on political rants. So if I do, please accept my apologies ahead of time (anyone I offend). Try to excuse me for being upset and chronically I'll :). I'm in severe pain and often am up sick all night.

Now you're just stalking and what's the term that mod's use - "fixing for a fight". You're not going to get one here, and neither is your tag team partner.

It has to be done to protect the cheeeldrin.
The argument I'm making lately is that low income smokers who switch will benefit their families, not just themselves. If they learn to mix and rebuild they will probably save thousands of dollars. That could mean better nutrition for the kids.

I've been doing Disqus posts on news stories for a year and getting a a dozen or two up votes a week. Since I started making the argument above I'm getting that many up votes every day and a lot of responders. The economic benefit of switching for low income smokers and their families is being overlooked. Helping kids by getting more money into the family picture is something most people can relate to.

:danger:Sarcasm ahead!
So we're going to encourage low income people to spend their assitance checks on E-liquid & Mods? We can't do that! We have to sit around & ignore that they spend their money on analogs cuz BT says so!:pervy::thumbs::vapor:

There is a trend on college campuses to ban cigs from the grounds and ecigs are usually included because the true purpose is a reaction to ecigs, not cigs. If campuses would ban only cigs a lot of students and employees who smoke would try an ecig for convenience and a bunch of them would end up switching and that might be more valuable in the long run than that expensive education they are looking for. That rationale falls on deaf ears because the focus of the ban is ecigs, not cigs. HUD is open minded about making an exception for ecigs in public housing. We should find where their comment link is and encourage them. It would be a grand experiment on a grand scale and easy to study.

What's going on with local governments and State funded schools is they are trying to show State funding sources they are doing their part to preserve the tobacco tax.
