My Protege came a few weeks ago and had a mechanical switch installed. I also picked up a back up one just in case. Glad I did too as the original one was very touchy and rarely worked. I tried the steps here on the forum but it was still hit or miss. The brass ring inside is a little misshaped which may be the problem. Anyway, with the spare switch installed I am back up and running but it’s still temperamental sometimes.

I am waiting till they come up with a solution before sending back the original switch. I really hope they come up with something better because this unit is near perfect besides this awful switch. I love the idea of the switches simplicity; it just has to work a little bit better. Don’t worry, they will figure something out; I can tell you it’s fairly obvious by all the posts here regarding this subject, they are probably working on a new switch design.

Sadly, I'll join the chorus of folks having issues with the Protege. Not terminal in my case but it does give an impression of fragility. I saw somewhere that Steve recommended using the flat of the thumb to depress the (mechanical) switch, and I have noticed that this does indeed help it perform more consistently. Obviously the switch needs a redesign.

I've been reading about these product complaints the last couple of days, what gives? I haven't read about these type of problems with other major mods. I'm waiting on a "Chuck" won from a contest and all I read about is the forums about everybody waiting for their custom babies to be born. My son bought an Xhaler which he is lending me until my chuck comes and it is amazing! He also has a BB and both of these are fantastic mods. Yes I'm sure every product has some issues not only PV's but everything in the market. But suppliers should stand by their products! Nothing is worse than the bad publicity of ongoing problems or the failure to stand behind them. A customer who has an issue resolved is worth ten fold in the good publicity the company receives for standing behind the product as well as having a happy camper. We have a family owned deli for the past 20 years that my son now runs. Nothing is tougher than the food business and peoples tastes. When we receive a customer complaint we resolve it, right or wrong, and the word of mouth from taking care of the customers issue brings us as much if not more business than the customer who is always happy. It's part of running a business, keeping the customer happy sometimes even if they are wrong. We have had a lot of similar businesses open in our area but we are still there after 20 years while the other come and go,, why? because we serve the best and we take care of our customers! We don't advertise we rely upon word of mouth. I believe that will be true in the e-cig business as well. With all the current companies and the new ones to come, the ones that will survive in the end are the ones with a decent product but more so the ones with unsurpassed CUSTOMER SERVICE AND PROBLEM RESOLUTION. I've never dealt with Puresmoker and I never will based solely on what I've read the past couple days. I wish them no evil and it's not my intention to bash anyone, but I do know what it takes to survive in business. I'm a disabled paramedic/firefighter and I try to help my son out when I can. I love to see the customers that have come to us over the past 20 years and now their children who come because of our product and more so our motto to always please. Now if I could get my son to pay me I could buy a lot more vaping fun, lol. Every one be blessed and as always Happy vaping!
