vaping became cool for some reason (I can't figure out why) and the craze started. I don't buy that flavorings and marketing are to entice kids..

YouTube and juul .. YouTube because of some of the outrageous "Fog Machine" videos .. JUUL because it packs a head rush nic hit ..

At least, in my imagination of a perfect world, vaping should die along with smoking. This should be a way to end smoking and then die out with the current users. But then again, it's not a perfect world.

The fun colored packaging of products, television shows and vaping tricks makes it look so much fun to vape, even without nicotine! I must admit I am also entertained watching youtube videos of vape tricks and product reviews. But vaping trick on national television? I think is a big no! The question is, is it right to use this kind of marketing that's almost the same as selling legos to children. I mean, the colorful marketing and the idea that this is fun. It's attracting very young audiences.
Frankly I do not know a single vaper that started vaping because of colorful juice labels or flashing lights on a mod they saw. Frankly I believe most if not all kids vape because someone they think is cool did it first. Frankly I am tired of this particular line of argument.

I personally think that drinking (at least a lot of) soda is more harmful for kids than vaping 0 nic juices. Let's ban the soda first. No pepsi/cola for under 21!
Except I seriously doubt that kids are vaping 0% nic for flavors or vape tricks. They are vaping for the head rush of 50mg nic in the pod mods or because they have seen others vaping and thought it was "cool" and "adult like".

agree, it's same as it was with cigs. When you saw that commercial with cowboy marlboro back then ... it was way to cool not to try it, esp. for boys. Btw, the actor died for lung cancer few years later as far as I remember.
Is Bieber vaping? I hope he's not Lol

Well, you guys would be fun at parties.
"Help yourself to some pate and crackers"
"Thanks! Did you know pate is high in fat and moderately high in cholesterol and crackers are full of sodium? "
"Oh! okay, well enjoy some red wine with it then, it will lower the cholesterol"
"Oh nice, I like a good merlot. Did you know it destroys your liver?"

Some dizzyness is probably part of it, yeah. Doesn't need to be perceived as adult like though, they put booze soaked tampons up their butts and I don't think they thought their parents (or any adult) would do that

This not the case for many around here. 0nic is what most have bought for them. In our communities down here 18 is still the legal smoking age so the high schoolers old enough buy a lot of 0nic locally and a few mix. There are also quite a few parents that buy the 0nic for their kids that have snowed them with "I can't quit smoking without my vape" bullcrap.

Are they doing anything fun that's not scientifically proven to be 100% harmless?

Not sure how that fits in to what I was Asking?

The Long and the Short of it (for Me) is I view e-Cigarette use as Harm Reduction over Smoking. And Quitting Smoking without Vaping (or anything else) as Harm Elimination.

Such that the Harm in this case is defined as the Harm caused by Smoking. And that Harm is Quantified on the Population Level.

Does this mean that every e-Cigarette user sees the Same amount of Harm Reduction? No... it Doesn't. Because just like about Any Population, there are Outliers in the Distribution.

And I see No Reason why the Population of e-Cigarette User should be any Different.

So shooting people in the face, sawing them to pieces with a handsaw, beating them to a pulp, horrible monsters from nightmares - no problem with any of that.
    What's that, a vape trick?

It's obvious you're talking about the news, and it should be clear enough that it's bad and people watching those knows that they shouldn't copy that. But anyways, you still have a point and yes people still copy what they see, even the wrong ones in the news. We talking about these probably would derail OP topic, I just mentioned what I said as an idea why kids wants his vape stuff. Can we stop it from happening again? Can you? I guess not.. It's not a perfect world.

Media is a powerful tool. But sometimes it's easy to send the wrong message, and I personally think it has a lot to do why kids today know a lot of things they are not supposed to know. Regardless if it's about vaping, drugs, sex etc... Just IMO.

Precisely - we are the guinea pig generation! :D
I'm good with that. After all, I started smoking at 16 knowing they would harm me at one point. After 27 years of heavy smoking, I was a wreck that was winded after a flight of stairs. That is no longer the case. Anyway, I have no delusions of living forever or even a long life as that stuff don't run on the male side in my family. I gladly take one for the team to see if there are any long term effects from vaping. If it turns out there were effects, I'm okay with that, hopefully it will help someone. If not, good to know.

I was not referring to advertising or famous people. Their immediate peers or adults in their real life was my point. Guess I wasn't clear enough in my previous statement about advertising and new vapers.

So you would have children sheltered from real world temptations before sending them off to college or out to an independent life with no tools or lessons about how to resist said temptations?

There are valid, peer reviewed medical studies that link youth soda consumption to childhood obesity. Tied also with a poor diet, obesity has created a group of much younger people with high blood pressure. There are now middle school children being treated to lower their blood pressure and cholesterol. NOTHING in life is good for you in excess. You can die from drinking too much water. Too many carrots will turn your skin orange. I won’t list more, but moderation is the key for everything.

As adults, we have the right to pick our poison, so to speak. I don’t drink, but I have no problem with adults choosing to do so. Limiting to the best of our abilities to keep it away from children is paramount. Same with vaping. Alcohol, caffeine and nicotine adversely affect developing brains. There needs to be a middle road where it’s openly available to adults, and hard to obtain for kids.
