But don't forget, Suffolk County banned e-cigs in public places under the umbrella of their ban on cigarettes in bars, restaurants, hotels, and the workplace a long time before this NYS proposed ban even surfaced.

As long as I can buy them I dont care, im in nassau anyway - though its probably the same here.

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,
I remained silent;
I wasn't a Jew.

When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.

Both NY State e-cig sales ban bills are about to die as the legislature adjourns, and Rosenthal's bill didn't even get approved by the Assembly (last year it was approved by a large majority in the Assembly).

Just because e-cigarettes are now legally considered "tobacco products" under the FSPTCA, state laws are entirely different matters (which is why we need to continue advocating state laws that ban the sale of e-cigs to minors by amendment the definition of tobacco in youth sales ban laws to include e-cigarettes).

The last thing the vaping community needs are references to government agencies or officials as Nazis. While these folks may be abstinence-only tobacco/nicotine prohibitionists that disdain all things tobacco, they are not Nazis.

Ah yesssss, political correctness. It's no longer a USED car its a PRE OWNED car. It's no longer Shell Shock its PTSD While I do agree with most points made (afterall they have yet to begin to shoot people for smoking), call it what you will... PO-TA-TOE / PO-TAT-OH / Potato / 'Tater / Solanum tuberosum

Just call it how I see it... don't care what you call it ;)

Abstinence-only tobacco/nicotine prohibitionists that disdain all things tobacco could be shorted like post traumatic stress disorder/ptsd to AOTNPTDATT.

Give it a name like that, maybe pharma can market something to "help" those folks too :laugh:

EDIT: Not to be cynical, just as I read news it's scary all the freedoms that are being taken away. I'm truthfully waiting for the day it will be illegal to have people over for dinner because you do not have a permit to serve food. I've simply tried for YEARS to quit and now that I finally have found something that WORKS --- you'll be takin my PV from my cold dead fingers before I give it up willing.

True.... they are socialists.

Right. Not National Socialists. This generation is :matrix:"neo" and :rickroll:"uber". :blink:

The Third Reich was defeated militarily, but powerful Nazi-era bankers, industrialists and civil servants, reborn as democrats, soon prospered in the new West Germany. There they worked for a new cause: European economic and political integration.

The lesson of the "First they came for..." poem is that you don't have to be a member of The Party to be part of The Problem.

The decreasing of personal freedoms and the desire to have an unrealistic amount of control over the private lives of others isn't specific to one type of government or political party. If that was the case, here in America we would have to start using the term democratic as a negative term to describe politicians. It might be fun to use certain political terms out of context (socialists, fascists) but in reality the loss of personal freedom and other undesirable actions can be (and is) brought about by elected representatives.

I am in 100% agreement on this. Such rhetoric, while certainly good for blowing off steam, does little to further our cause.

We appear to have moved beyond elected representatives removing personal freedoms.

Has there been any news lately regarding this? Really interesting information here.

Both bills (outright ban and ban to minors) are dead. Hopefully during the next legislative session a bi-partisan bill to ban e-cigs to minors will pass without issue.

New York City's ban on using e-cigarettes wherever smoking is not allowed is still pending though.

Thank you for the reply Placebo Effect!

Is there one specific site that has up to date, details with this information? There are so many links to politicians sites (for pro or con) and notable folks, but I would like to find one site, that tells me news about it all in one shot - should the threat come up again.

CASAA | The Consumer Advocates for Smoke-Free Alternatives Association "Call to Action" page is frequently updated with information on new ban attempts and other smoke-free legislation.

I will be largely in charge of NYC for CASAA when the ordinance gets brought up, so please feel to PM me your contact info (preferably e-mail and phone number) and I'll be glad to get in touch with you directly.
