I'm too paranoid to openly vape in non-smoking areas. My KR808D looks too much like a real analog, so I'm sure someone would approach me and tell me to stop. It would be nice to relax and vape in a restaurant without feeling like I have to duck in the restroom.

You can get a mod box really cheap (a build your own kit is available at madvapes for less than $9) and when you take a vape hold it in for a bit, that way when you exhale there's hardly any vapor, especially with all PG liquid. Don't be paranoid, the most they can do is ask you to stop, then if you explain what it is, it's fairly likely they'll apologize and go about their business... :)

In the beginning I felt uncomfortable when I vaped in the public. It annoyed me when everyone was staring and wondering what I was doing. I found that many people were interested and just wanted to know how it worked. Now, I just provide a overview and demonstration and they really seem to enjoy the little show :)

@ Waiting -- That's when it's really handy to have a mod that looks nothing like a cig :). I don't think anyone approaches me because they have no idea what I've got.

Speaking of folks being annoying with cell phones, did ya'll see the woman on the news that talked loudly on her cell for 16 hours in the quiet car of the train? I'm surprised someone didn't beat her with something before the 16 hours passed.

lol here's the news story about that loud mouth cellphone user that got the boot off the train!:

It surprises me how few people out there actually know what an e-cig is! I think here in Ukiah I've ran into about 3 people that knew what an e-cig was. That's it! We gotta get the word out somehow! :) But yeah alot of people would see me vaping and ask me what it was, and when I explained it they were really impressed by the technology... many of them asked where they could get them and I gave out business cards I received with orders from various vendors, and told them about ECF.

Vaped in my local Walmart(Cape Coral, Florida). I had just run into someone else vaping a cig looking PV in there, even I had to do a double take on that on, so I figured what the heck I'll give it a try. A few minutes later a manager walked up to me and said I momentarily freaked out one of her employees who thought I was smoking a cig but she new what I was doing and explained it to her and then proceeded to tell me she vaped also!
I think the one thing that helps is I use a black big battery with swarovski crystals on it so no mistaking it for a nasty cigarette.

That is pretty cool you ran into a manager that vaped also. Sometimes it can be a small world after all :)

I also have the right to an uncontaminated environment....uncontaminated by the second hand smoke naysayers are trying to get me to expose myself to. I vape discretely...when in an aisle no one else is in. I refuse to end up stinking of others' smoke by going to the smokers area to vape. Most people who vape in public are very careful to not blow a cloud of vapor at someone and are welcoming to people who notice and have questions. Believe it or not there can be a happy medium.

Hate to be the naysayer. But Naysayer urges vapers to not vape in places prohibited to smokers. Doing so (IMO) only does harm to vaper's causes. Vape can look like smoke. Respect the rights of others to an uncontaminated environment. Do not alienate the unknowing and the undecided by forcing vape in their direction.

Just to let you know I wasn't a complete idiot. When I vaped the closest person to me was about 10 feet in front of me checking out and no one was behind me. The guy in front of me didn't even notice. The manager and employee were about 40 ft. from me and went out of their way to come talk to me about vaping. Personally I want people to see me vape and ask questions. It's going to be hard to educate people about vaping by hiding in the back room. I started vaping because I went into a computer repair place and someone was vaping there and the first thing I noticed was no smell and got curious about what she was doing and asked her about it. I am now grateful to that woman every day for having the courage to vape in plain sight. I don't blow the vapor into someones face, ever. I think any reasonable person is going to know I am not smoking a cigarete just by the looks of my PV and no smell.:)

And this was about the same way I vaped in Walmart, I wan't blowing plumes of vapor in peoples faces, if I was right next to someone I wouldn't vape. The closest person I got to in the store was the checker, and I stood back while she was scanning, and took a few small drags, and blew them away from people. I was curious, I wanted to know if it would be accepted or not. And I wasn't 'chain vaping' and cruising the store looking like a steam locomotive, I was just casually vaping when I was at what I hoped was a comfortable distance from other people.
