I am guessing so, its the only change I made in a while, man did nicotine get a bad rap because of Big tobacco....I mean I am sure there are some negatives like with Caffeine but its not the demon it was made out to be...at least in its pure state.

As far as I can determine, if you have normal blood pressure there no real downside to either caffeine or nicotine.

I love my Nicotine as much as I love my coffee! I started vaping 2 years ago when my heart doctor told me to put down my menthol cigarettes and start vaping. So I did and have not smoked since. I vape my beloved Cinnamon Cream with 6ml nicotine and am very satisfied. I no longer smell like an ash tray, my hair is never oily anymore, my skin has improved, my nails are growing again, and my daughter enjoys riding with me in our smoke free car!

I had quit smoking and cheated years ago. Right after that I told my doctor that if he couldn't make me function and feel like I had a brain without cigarettes, I was going to have to smoke. He put me on medication that helped some but I still needed the nicotine in the cigarettes and started to have problems from smoking. I started vaping when my dad had lung cancer and my whole family switched over. Vaping gives me what I need and lowers my pain levels. I have fibromyalgia and it also cut down on the tingling everywhere. I need this to keep feeling and functioning like a normal person. I hope I never have to stop vaping.

It's not cravings. I picked up an NJOY Pro April, 21 2009, and didn't touch a cigarette for 9 months.
The problem is my brain didn't work the same. When I finally bought a pack of analogs, I suddenly started getting some things done again. Things that I had been just ignoring. When they talk about depression, and not finding enjoyment in things you used to enjoy. That's me!

It's pretty remarkable how enjoyable vape is, I think. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a cigarette. They had become a gross and tedious habit. I can't imagine I'd stop even after reaching zero nicotine.

Nobody in their right mind could ever think smoking preferable to vaping.

THAT is why even those who perceive or experience actual harm from vaping will stick with it -- because ANYTHING is better than smoking.

four2109...I TOTALLY relate to what you're saying about your brain "not working the same" and not "getting things done". (After 51 years of smoking I've been exclusively vaping [with nicotine ejuice] for 20 months.)

But...like Emmalfal and AndriaD...I have NO interest in returning to a life with analogs!!!

Then...I ran across this http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-liquid-discussion/553603-my-experience-wta.html thread where the OP said (after she had received her first ejuice with WTA order):

"I received my first order today and all I can say is WOW WOW WOW. I have quit smoking for 4 months and for 4 months I have had no concentration at all . Before I quit smoking I lived to work because I love my work. I am an self employed artist and I love to create., well ever since I quit smoking there has been such a dense heavy fog in my head that I could not concentrate, could be creative nor had the drive to even work.

Today my aroma juice came in and after puffing for about 15 minutes I got a slight warm tingle on the left side of my head just like someone opened up my blood vessels and turned my lights on vaguely. Fast forward to supper time it is like the lights are on. My husband came home to find me in my studio working and even commented that the old sparkle that used to be in my eyes was back. Truly I feel like someone came opened my head and sucked all the fog out and I can now think like I used to. It feels like I have finally been able to take a deep breath for the first time in 4 months.

The other noticeable thing I have noticed is I can actually put my provari down and not have to chain vape.
"

So...I just today ordered a couple "WTA Eliquids" from Whole Tobacco Alkaloid WTA Eliquid Ejuice. They're a little expensive ("ECF" code => -10%) but if they "lift the fog" (and I can continue to avoid analogs)...it will be well worth it!!!

Yeah, the WTA is a bit more pricey than regular ejuice, but TOTALLY worth it. I get the 24mg unflavored WTA at wholecig, and I recently figured out the actual cost of the ejuice I make, and the WTA is about half the total cost of it -- roughly about 12.50/mo -- but compared to spending $11 every other day for cigarettes? Both dirt cheap and PRICELESS!

When I first started using it, I was adding it to my DIY at 10%; since the first of the year I've been steadily decreasing, and now onto 6%. About the only "symptom" I've had since I started decreasing it is that sometimes I feel like I can't vape enough, so I've slightly decreased the nic level, to 9.8mg instead of 10mg, to forestall any nic-sic if I vape my face off. :D I usually try to make sure that I have at least one of my kayfuns still loaded with the previous month's percentage, so 7% at this point, so if it gets too bad, I can vape on a slightly higher percentage. But so far, it's going very well. Hopefully I should be done with the WTA by the end of September. :thumb:

Well...while we're waiting for mosspa's updates on his "Nicotine Vaping Adventures...I'll throw in my update on my "WTA Vaping Adventures"...

So I ordered some WTA ejuice from Aroma Whole Tobacco Alkaloid WTA Eliquid Ejuice . (Although my "usual" ejuice is 12 mg. nicotine...I ordered their ejuice with 24 mg. WTA...figuring I could dilute it [if needed] to cut the cost.)

When I received it I put some (full-strength) in a T3S. After 3-5 minutes of vaping the WTA I was startled to find that the "mental fog"...that I had come to take for granted with vaping--and had gotten use to...lifted. I thought "WOW!!! The Mental Balance that I had always LOVED (and had forgotten about) with cigarettes has returned!!!"

I'm now in my 4th day (of 5-10 puffs about every 8 hours) and I continue to feel totally Clear, Calm and Motivated. (A 30 ml. bottle, though kinda' expensive, will last me a LONG time.)

As always...of course...YMMV...

Great thread. I didn't want to post here until I'd had a chance to read it all and now I have. I'm approaching 500 days since I quit a 36 year old 2PAD habit with vaping. I've been using 15mg liquid for more than a year and keep debating whether I should try to reduce it. After all, conventional wisdom holds that nicotine is bad for you, right? Well maybe, but conventional wisdom also held that meat, eggs and butter while bad and grains were good and this is also turning out to be wrong. Maybe I'll mix some 12 with my 15 and see how it goes, but I'm feeling less urgency about it at the moment. :D

I killed off a 40+ year cig habit by first switching to SNUS and Dipping. Still craved the occasional cig and occasionally I would buy a pack..smoke three or four and toss the pack out the window while driving home...lol

THEN--I found out about vaping.

Been vaping going on 18 months now and haven't even had a craving for a cig. In fact, when I smell them now the only reaction I have is "Damn..that's what I used to smell like huh?"

Glad I found this thread. I quit analogs over 4 years ago and just recently picked up vaping for the nicotine benefits as well as the benefits from PG and VG. I was unable to quit analogs using ecigs, patches or gum, nothing seemed to work. What did finally work is illegal in most areas but is now completely legal in my state, it worked wonders and I even dropped 100lbs of weight my first year of quitting the analogs.

I read an article and some studies on nicotine and the benefits and decided to start vaping for that purpose as I was already off analogs.

Thanks for offering your info to her,,, Well, she vaped for about 5 min tonight. I don't want to press the "nicotine is good for you" to her until she gets a result, yes or no, from her vaping PG. Right now her sinusitis is her main medical priority. About the allergies, she went to an allergist about 18 months ago. He injected her with all kinds of s*** and all she got out of it was a sore arm. I'll pass on the Flonase suggestion to her if the PG vaping doesn't work. Again, thanks.

I definitely vape (nicotine) for brain focus.

I can't say it's THE reason I vape, but one of the benefits that I wouldn't give up just because of say issues with lung function, unless, of course lung functioning was nearing depletion.

I recall during my third stint of going cold turkey (or about 4 years ago), I was routinely getting migraine type of headaches. I never had experience with regular migraines until this period. I tracked a month where I had headaches for the entire day (taking Tylenol often each day) for 14 days out of 30 day month. That was the 'norm' for about 3 months. Still not sure how to explain this, but when I took smoking up, that went down to less than 5 headaches a month immediately. Hard to concentrate/focus on anything when you get a migraine. Anyway, vaping came to me quickly after my 4th time of starting to smoke (again), and while I never have a month go by where I don't experience a headache, it is now in what I think of as my normal range (or around 1 to 3 a month).

Sorry, not really wanting to make this about headaches, but explaining how vaping nicotine is justified, for me, to continue as I imagine if I quit using nicotine, I may experience more headaches and far less ability to concentrate / focus on all things in my life.

If I feel I need to focus and increase concentration, I will generally vape a little more. And usually, I can anticipate this hours in advance, but sometimes it is not known that I'll need extra focus until moments before. Either way it is a bit of a reinforcement factor. And is noticeable because at times I'll go thru my own version of 'too much nicotine, need to cut back,' and then notice, rather acutely, lack of focus/motivation.

I'm in my 40's and have 'senior moments.' Most of the time, they kind of humor me.

When I smoked I used to get a lot of migraines - might not get any for two months and then get three in a week - and these were the full thing, auras, banging headaches and photophobia (sometimes). I also used to get a lot of low level headaches that might last for days.

Since I started vaping all these have mostly gone - I've had one migraine in the last three months which was actually caused my Microsoft - they released an update that borked some of the fonts on my computer - particularly those the browser used, and the low level headaches seem to have disappeared completely.

So that's another health advantage of vaping.

This thing about headaches is the one thing that might put a crimp in my eventual plans of decreasing nicotine in the winter to help my cold extremities, because I *do* sometimes get migraines (though they've mercifully almost gone away entirely since I quit drinking, now and then I get the "aura" -- psychedelic lightshow that can sometimes take over my entire field of vision).

Possibly I could go ahead and start reducing my nic level once I'm free of the WTA (which should be this fall, just in time for cooler weather), but if a migraine threatened, just puff on some higher-nic to stave it off -- medicine rather than daily regimen.

Andria

Actually. the reason I titled this thread as I did, was that I suspected that nicotine might provide benefits other than smoking amelioration, not necessarily related only to to cognitive improvement. So, posts such as this are very much in keeping with the 'advantages of nicotine' scope of the thread. Also, this post also provides me with the opportunity to add an additional anecdote that I haven't really reflected on before reading this. I, too, have had a problem with migraines. Also, my migraines are tied to an idiopathic neurological condition that makes me local neurologists' favorite lab rat. I have traditional migraines, but have never experienced an aura. They are severe enough to cause me to need a bed and a dark room for about 7-12 hrs. My real problem with my migraines is what happens to me immediately following the termination of the actual headache. In a post dromal period that lasts anywhere from five to eight days, I experence severe vertigo and nausea accompanied initially by projectile vomiting and dry heaves which persists for at least three days of the vertigo. I am bedridden for the entire period of vertigo during which time my caloric intake is maintained by sipping Guinness stout (seriously, it's the highest nutrient thing I can generally keep down for more than 20 minutes. In my case Guinness is, indeed, good for me :) ). Anyway, the migraines were more frequent, about 1.6/month (i.e., zapping an average of almost two full weeks of my life per month), but since I started my academic job, they have reduced in number to a frequency of about one every two months. Any number of factors might have played into this that probably don't warrant discussion here.

Now to tie into this thread.... my last migraine was the week after Thanksgiving (Nov 28th). I feel I should be 'knocking on wood', here, but Formica will have to do :) It occurs to me that I've gone over three months, now, without having a migraine. Over the past few years I've gone more than two months between episodes, but I have never gone three before. The only thing I have varried over that time was my intake of nicotine. So, from this perspective, your post becomes meaningful to me. My wife keeps very accurate records of my episodes, so I will need to follow this more closely, but if nicotine is actually suppressing my migraines, that one benefit is more valuable to me than any cognitive improvement I may experience. Thank you for this post!

So sorry you all suffer with migraines, my wife used to get them frequently but after taking MSG, aspartame and other fake sugars out of her diet, she hasn't suffered anymore. MRI's showed that she had lesions forming on her brain, after a quick search I found that MSG could be the cause and we worked hard at eliminating it from our diets.

I also suffered from vertigo and CVS(cyclic vomiting syndrome) and found that it also had to do with my diet. The vertigo turned out to be a magnesium deficiency and the CVS was from eating foods that caused my sinus drainage to go into overdrive, or simply put, food allergies. I now use vitamin C and raw extra virgin coconut oil as they help keep the draingage to a minimum as I haven't been able to eliminate processed foods entirely.

I haven't noticed any positive effects on the nicotine yet (6mg) but maybe I need to up my dosage.

The only downside I've noticed on vaping is the toll it's taken on my bank account.

Just my :2c: :vapor:

S,C,
Yes, but, apparently, until I get access to post a zip file, I can't answer the question is a few short sentences
Try Dropbox. If you have a Samsung phone that is relatively new you can get up to 50gb of data. Without and just signing up I think its 2GB of room which is plenty. Put your artice into a folder and then you can make that folder public. Post the link here and that should solve that part. As far as your test and questions your trying to answer. My neurologist told me the receptors in the brain that picks up the nicotine are multifunctional and serve the need at hand. People who are stressed smoked to calm down. It can act as a stimulant to wake you up thus the quintessential Smokers morning cup of coffee and cigarette before anything else. At the same time is can act as a relaxant for sleep. That's as far as he went and I was a IT geek so the only thing I can add is I hope I read it wrong when you said your ordered 48MG starter kit and not cutting it down. 48MG is way to high to smoke. It can cause its own issue's For instance the 2 highest level of nicotine cigarettes are Camel(my old enemy) and cool. They were 3.3 or also know as 33mg. Even though Vapers typically get 10 to 40 percent it is highly warned against buy sellers of nicotine to go above 32mg some say 24. I to would love to read your final report

A New York Times article today by Joe Nocera, "Smoking, Vaping and Nicotine," relates his interview with Mitch Zeller, director of the Center for Tobacco Products (CTP), a division of the FDA. The CTP will soon have regulatory authority over electronic cigarettes. Zeller "thinks there should be a recognition that different ways of delivering nicotine also come with different risks."

I am just now reading this, and noticed it is a fairly old thread. my main reason for vaping, is to stop smoking. Now that I've stopped for 2 years, I've been lowering the nicotine content steadily, and now at a 4-6mg range. I decided not to lower it any more, due to the positive benefits of nicotine that I've heard about.

I do notice I tend to remember more. I was once vaping a zero nic juice, and I couldn't remember a customer's name from one day to the next. When I upped the nic back to the 4-6mg range, my memory did get better.. this is just my own personal experience. whether or not it is a placebo effect or not, It seems to work for me. I haven't attempted to go lower in nic again, mainly for that reason.

Well I'm captivated. More I read , the more I wanted to read. I'm a recovering opioid addict and alcoholic. Vaping helps keep me in recovery by keeping my wallet light lol and my mind occupied

I know you posted this some months ago, just wanted to give support and pray your having a good day. You may already know but I'll pass along something things that helped me through my dark days, I use to be the "fixer" in my family, I was one everyone could come to for help and lean on. While going through my own problems I had to shut that down, I had to keep my plate clean of other burdens and I had to let go of "friends" who were a negative impact on my life. I had to let go of my pride, it was my turn to lean on others and ask for support when I needed it. I knew if I couldn't take care of myself I wouldn't be any good to anyone else.

Hang in there, keep your plate lite, put your pride on a shelf, share your smiles as well as your tears and always set your sights on tomorrow. Tomorrow is always another opportunity for a better day, it may not be tomorrow, but the sun will shine again.

My father would remind me never to worry about what others might say or do, we have no control over them, just do the right things, if they do wrong well then that's on them and it's their problem, not ours.

Thank you. I've had to change everything in my life. I've had to say goodbye from friends to stay clean. I even had to quit listening to rock music because it triggers me. Now i listen to country. Im still slipping with alcohol but I've remained free from everything else.
