Oh yeah, I deffinately feel ya! When I first started I was unsure to vape outside of my home....while driving in my my jeep, I was at a red light next to a police officer and I immediately lowered my ecig as if I was doing something wrong! You know what? WE are doing the right and healty thing...so be proud of it! After I decided to not give a .... and vaping in my car, at work outside in designated areas and in public where allowed, I have had more people ask and get information about ecigs and all the benefits there of! So vape prowdly but do it respectfully so more can learn about the alternative choices we now have in this 21st century! *cheers*

Well, try not to vape in places where smoking is prohibited unless you want to attract a lot of attention. For vaping in public, if you are using a big ecig (i.e. ego-c twist which I am using), you may want to buy a pouch to keep it hidden from view. Alternatively, vaping in the toilet is safe and stealthy if use flavors that do not smell (i.e. menthol).

Some people may not know that vaping is illegal in Singapore.

Like others here, I'll vape anywhere it isn't expressly forbidden. I do try to respect others so I don't use it in crowds or anywhere I'd be blowing mist in people's faces. The inside of my car windshield shows me that vapor does leave something behind. From everything I've read it's benign but I prefer to respect people's space.

I constantly got the weird looks or people wanting to know if I was doing drugs (had one guy ask if he could "toke" with me) when I took my Spinner and mini Vivi Nova out so I just switched to a cig-a-like in public. Most people have at least seen a couple of commercials and know what they are.

I am also respectful of others. I'm not gonna sit in a movie theater and blow huge plumes at the back of someone's head all movie. I also don't see the need to vape in stores and such. I never considered smoking in a grocery or department store, so why would I vape there? I ask in bars. Most say it's okay. I'd rather this than someone running up to me going "you can't do that in here' and then make them feel dumb when I explained it wasn't smoke.

So think about the appropriateness of when and where to do it at.

I vape just about anywhere. I am a general manager of a retail store, and one of my employees turned me on. Now most of us vape, just not with customers in the store. We have them sitting at our work stations and sometimes get asked what they are, so we educate a lot. Also some customers are regulars and we vape openly when its just them. I vape in walmart like its my bed room, as stated anything goes there. Most other big box stores as well.

I do not vape in movie theaters or restraunts, except of isolated from the reat of the occupants, and I try to limit it to the smallest amout of vape possible. Theres defiantly a difference from exercising your rights and being rude.

My husband and I went out the other night. We vaped at the restaurant and had no issues. However when we went to the bar we had some problems. The owner of the bar came up to use and said he likes that we are using vapors and try to quick smoking. He went on to say that he didnt want us to use the e-cigs in the bar because he would have to explain to every smoker why it was ok for us to vape but not ok for them to smoke. Thats cool, i get it. At least it wasnt a "he's not educated on vaping" or just rude.

The same thing happened to me a couple of years ago. I could definitely understand the bar owners concern in not wanting to have to explain the difference to his smoking patrons. Let's hope that before too long, we will see signs in sports bars, etc that state: Vaping Permitted.

My wife made an off handed drug comment once and it affected my public vaping greatly but, I really don't care now. When I am with her I will use the spinner instead of vamo on some occasions. If I will be by myself I don't care and use my Vamo. I will vape anytime in the car. When I am out and about I take stealth hits EVERYWHERE I go just for kicks.

Restaurants - i ask them first. Car, home. work - i do as i please. Nobody is likely to confuse my pv for a cigarette. But the key is to vape considerately of others. Most of us are not smokers but nicotine users.

I don't drop my pv if i see a police car, because it's nothing illegal and if they want to play hardball they can test some of my liquid in the field test kit they are mandated to carry.

I don't blow vape in people's faces anymore than i used to when smoking because it's rude. But i am no longer a pariah that has to stand outside in all weathers, although some smokers are my friends and so i go out there anyway. I have vaped in a hospital before with the full consent of the staff there.

When I have vaped in public, I will ask beforehand if it is ok. So far I have not been told no. I have vaped in the waiting room while getting new tires, a few bars and my neighborhood swimming pool in addition to vaping at my desk at work and my car. I have yet to get any questioning glances or questions. Should I get any, I will gladly answer any questions and also respect other peoples requests - an individuals actions can cause someone to form an opinion of a whole group. So like many, I will be an ambassador for what vaping can do for smokers and non-smokers alike.

Grace, courtesy and politeness go a long way in any setting. I don't expect to be able to vape wherever I am. On the other hand, I vape wherever I can, where I don't offend or intrude on others. Vaping is not smoking and I will defend the obvious differences rigorously. I don't believe the whole entitlement mentality leads to much anything positive, and I don't act that way, and I can completely understand why someone would have a problem with it if I did act that way. I believe your concerns are well founded and it's an interesting discussion. As others have suggested, we must be careful to preserve whatever rights we may have. Since second hand vapor has been shown to have no adverse side affects, I don't consider the requirement to be 35 feet from doorways necessary, if that's where the smoking section is, for example. I do consider blowing vapor in someone's face to be rude and offensive. There is a happy medium in most situations. If we don't defend our right to vape, the PC police will eventually get around to removing that right from us. So, while we must always respect others, we must also draw a line in the sand and fight for our right to vape. Welcome to ECF, congrats on getting here, good luck, and Vape On!

As a scooter "enthusiast" I vape at red lights and when stuck in traffic. I don't really pay attention to the looks from others.
The other night I rode out to the store and when I came out I started my scoot, put on my helmet and took a hit. The clear visor was down far enough to trap and fill the visor area up with vapor for just a moment. The entire time a store employee was retrieving shopping carts and caught the vapor filled helmet moment. I chuckled for a second.

Of note: My cats don't leave the room when I vape. If they're parked right up near me they stay. They used to always leave when I smoked.

I'm a little old lady, retired; I don't get out much to restaurants and bars but do vape in stores and outside everywhere. I love to watch people watching me! The smoke nazis I ignore (you can't fix stupid); what's most amusing is those whose first expression is disapproval when they see me exhaling what looks like smoke. Then they notice my device: stainless steel cigalike w/ glowing white tip, small clearo. Their expression usually changes to curiosity, trying to figure out the "it looks like she's smoking but that doesn't look like a cigarette" dilemma. Most of them will pass by without saying anything, but occasionally someone will stop and ask me about it. Sometimes it's simply curiosity, sometimes it's maybe a family member might switch, and sometimes it's "where can I get one of those?" That's when I know that vaping in public is worthwhile!

Thanks everyone. I worry most that my nursing instructors might have an issue with it. We're not allowed to smoke during clinical although part of the reason is that hospitals don't allow smoking and also we don't want to smell offensive to our patient... understandable you wouldn't want your healthcare provider to reek of cigs or anything! I also just think CT may not be as aware about vaping as other places in the country. I got the opportunity to show a couple people in my clinical group my ecig and they thought it was a cute idea...
