Yeah, thats why its complicated I guess. You can find both answers as correct on the web. Either way is fine. I use both.

Im often envious of the ease of vaping today, it would have saved me a ton of aggravation ( and $) if it was anywhere near today's setups
I agree with this. I personally would get the 30w Eleaf istick, the threads hold up better.Get an istick 20 and a nautilus mini and mtl like I love to do.
Why are we talking about hotspots, even spacing and heat distribution?
No wonder the guy thinks this is way too involved.
Buy a coil, screw in the coil, pour the juice, press the button, ta-da
I’ve been there and I know exactly how difficult the procedure is...
I think of it like this, how much time did I invest into things like finding a lighter or running to the store, I can order a month+ worth of juice and have it delivered to my door for 50$.Now, I really like to look into the stuff I'm getting into, and I spent a lot of time researching about vaping. But that's me, what person would be willing to spend so much time getting info just to quit smoking/start vaping?People wanna vape, no one wants to research so much stuff just to be able to basically inhale tasty vapor. Most people will have bad vaping experiences, vaping is way too difficult and in early stages that it seems to not be worth getting into because all you do is lose money.
We got over to talking about it when discussing his building coils. You're right dropping a coil in a tank is simple and the best way to start out for sure. After vaping a while though, many of us choose not to use tanks, prebuilt coils and/or coil heads.
Some of us just prefer dripping over tanks, some like to tinker, some don't want to spend money on coil heads. Then there's the people who like to change the resistance they are using multiple times a day for different flavors. Some people still prefer a mech mod and depending on type (mod) a lot of tanks aren't safe for them.
Then there's people liking certain wick material over other types, choosing to learn and use building in case of regulation. It's really no different than DIY, it's easier to just buy a liquid and vape but many choose to make their own (generally not right out of the gate though).

I understand all those things. I’m currently pulling my heron V1 to bits with many tools and resetting it because I’m losing .1 of an ohm reading on my rdna which reads well. It may be the plate inside, possibly the positive post or maybe an insulator around that post or maybe the 510 has seen better days.
Once I’m done I’m going to take the silver plated contact off my paps and replace it with the copper as I prefer it.
Heron V1 on a paps V4 = mwa. I understand what you mean.
However, I think it is a better idea to simplify things to a guy in a beginner thread when said guy is having difficulties with rba toppers. Not begin to confuse him more by discussing heat distribution and the wicking difficulties he’s having.
A dry hit is one thing. Then we can help him set it up right.
Bleeding from your throat??
It’s my opinion that the guy needs relief from the mechanics of building for the time being
I tried to encourage op to go this route back on page 2, but based on his response, seems drop in coils are not of interest to him. Wish him good luck with his building, but I can't help with that.
Agree 100% but he's jumped from plug and play to building. I think a lot has to do with age and such, 22 yr. old male. I remember that age, everything was a measuring contest, lol.

I've recently become a LAZY VAPER. I've settled (that sounds negative, but its not meant to be) on using factory made coils for a clearomizer tank and using that on a regulated mod. It's the best vape I've had in seven years.
