I've lost 14-16 pounds in the last month or so. Getting your head wrapped around the idea of eating less food and realizing when your stomach tells you it's satisfied is the key. That's an easy thing to ignore when you impulse snack.

After a few days of reduced food consumption your brain responds and your stomach shrinks a little, making it easier to slow down the snacking habit.

I cannot imagine why people have so much trouble losing weight, when you have made it all so simple for them./sarc

Regularity is the main problem. Sticking to a plan for months on end is hard and requires proper dedication and focus.

Your not going to stop kids wanting to do the latest "cool" thing - which is how most smokers got their start.

You can advise young adults but you won't convince anyone not to do something because you said its bad..

In the end, some people are going to vape who never smoked, just like some people will eat sweets or other unhealthy things.

There ARE worse things than vaping, cigarettes are one.

In the end, it's up to us to make people feel like they can come to us for advice on how to vape safely..

There's enough people demonizing vaping, not enough telling them how to be safe when they vape anyway..

Running people off is as bad as anything we can do.. if they are adults, we answer their questions, not demonize vaping.
It is in no way 'demonizing vaping' to suggest that healthy non-smokers not take up a habit that they have no need of. On the contrary, encouraging young people to vape, just for fun, or expanding the scope of the argument beyond harm reduction, is playing into the hands of those who would say you are 'pushing it on their children'. The OP stated (or implied) that the daughter was already vaping. So the pros and cons were presented.
That is a responsible action, I think. Being a proponent of vaping under every circumstance could hurt the cause you seek to help.
There is a danger in 'over-advocating' when it starts to look like 'recruiting'. This is used by the enemies of vaping, to 'prove' that it needs policing.
I seek to avoid that.
Love..

I'll just repeat myself because I like to hear myself talk....

Op, thousands of young women are choosing far more dangerous methods of losing weight. Starvation, vomiting, street drugs, prescription drugs....the list goes on. Thank God you're not on some recovery forum looking for advice.

The real argument arising from the original post would be; "Is vaping better that eating sweets?"
As opposed to Vaping vs.( Some other horrible scenario).
I was guilty of this in my post as well.
Always assuming vaping is a safe alternative to almost anything, is a "True Believer" rationale, and assumes facts not in evidence. The evidence to support a conclusion of this sort simply does not exist, at the present.
As a vaper, I assume the risk that comes with the unknown. My decision. But I will tell people who ask advice the truth, that we do not know...

Vaping wont help in losing weight. Its a simple math trick.

Calories in < Calories out.

A kitchen scale would be the best advise. Measure what the intake is daily and calculate macros.

Focus on proper diet. Gym is always a plus. Vaping doesn't even come into the picture.
I'm curious, how many different options for smoking cessation did you try before you found one that worked? Weight loss is much the same. You find a crutch that helps you reach a goal. Right now vaping is getting her started down the better path.

Vaping is the first one.

But here's the thing, if love for sugar is the problem, vaping wont help. Coz vape does not come with the calories, so satiation factor is not the same as lets say a doughnut. On contrary it might lead to more sugar intake, coz the brain always will try to associate the tongue with the stomach. If its helping, why not. But it is not the right way to look at it. I would rather look towards fruits to curb urges than vape. Its summer now. Mangoes are everywhere! Better than vaping in this case for sure. If she is already vaping and at a legal age, nothing stopping her in doing that. But to look at it from the point of view of losing weight, is just off.

My daughter who is going to turn 21 in a few months, uses vaping to help her loose weight, instead of grabbing a sweet snack she vapes. Non nic juice. She uses very sweet e-liquid.

The question is what do you think of this I know vapping is harm reduction, so to use vapping as a weight alternative, and to reduce harm of being overweight.

So is this a new market, for use vappers, so instead of a tobacco free product a weight lost product.

I wouldn't consider vaping a weight loss plan. There is some risk in inhaling anything but probably not much in the vaping. I would think if it is a matter of flavor, some sugar free gum would work just as well or better to replace snacks. Or just get some low calorie healthy snacks instead.

Okay, first off no fighting, man this topic blew up.. the way I look at it is this way, my daughter who already lost 20 pounds using vapping to help her curve her sweet tooth is fine with me, she is a smart young woman, who is a Dean list college student, she's like me reads and studies everything that is out there about a subject..

And ways both sides of a topic and picks the best results, for her if it helps her than it helps her.

Just re-reading the OP, he isn't asking for weight loss advice for his daughter. He clearly stated she uses vaping to avoid reaching for a sweet snack in an effort to lose weight. If she's vaping instead of eating sweets, does it not stand to reason that it's working for her? Good Lord, you folks are practically sending her gym memberships. She's legal, who are we to say whether it's right or wrong for her to vape?

If she is vaping to loose weight, who knows it might work, but I'm pretty sure after a while it's going to stop working. Once she gets kind of use to it, she will start eating again...just my opinion

Good for her, 20 pounds is no small feat. Honestly I think vaping has got to be healthier than sweets. I’m not a doctor but all the crap in junk food unrefined whatever and preservatives and what not as opposed to some sweet water vapor laced with Nicotine. It just sounds worse when you lace something but you get my point. Tell her to keep up the good work, another vaping success story. Count another win for the good side.

Different people find different methods of achieving weight loss. Getting started is the hard part. After a few days your stomach seems to shrink a little and you get full faster. From that point on dieting is a lot easier.

Vaping is harmless enough IMO to use it for appetite suppression. I know people who started smoking cigarettes to lose weight and were successful, but once the weight was lost most continued to smoke and it's hard to quit. At least with vaping it's not a serious issue. So far, we don't know of any serious consequences associated with vaping.

Whatever 'works best' for you or in this case your daughter is what anyone should do.

Life is way too short to sweat the small stuff, the older & wiser you get the more you realize almost everything is small stuff.

If your big toe hurts and you feel like vaping helps ease the pain,
get on down with your bad self & vape.

Love..

Love you too..

I'm not saying reasonable advice is unwarranted, I'm pointing out that there is a point where the advice against vaping goes or can go too far from actual vapers, as there are worse things than vaping..

We are all a bit older here for the most part, and we all tend to speak to younger newcomers as if they are our own children etc. Which means our advice is us wanting the best for them, but sometimes I've seen it go too far. And that's what I was attempting to point out.

When it comes from anti vapers it's one thing, when it comes from actual vapers it CAN scare people the wrong way so a balance needs to be struck.
