I have to agree with this statement as well - but one - I have 4 Evolv equipped mods - Just think how many great clones I could have had for the money :facepalm:
I have two Evolv equipped mods that appear to have no issues (finally) and other than the 1 second delay on the clones I'm not seeing any differences between them to speak of. I will just leave it at that.
Nah, I'll go more. If I were interested in parting with them the clone would be the last one to go.

Goodness, my post was POSITIVE for the clone. Recommending it for those that want to try a flask type device w/o the cost.
I thought it proper to disclose what I thought was a very minor difference between the two.
I stated that some thought that there was an issue with pre-heat, some didn't, and I don't have an oscilloscope or the need to check.
I think the clone is a fantastic addition......
I mentioned selling it for no other reason but to allow someone else to experience a flask at a lower price point, not because I thought there was anything wrong with them.

Just noticed the 'DNA40' section on the 3Fvape homepage has disappeared again although the flasks and sharks are still available it seems! Strange!
I see that too! Now there are 10 listed on the VV & VW Mod page under "Temperature Control" on the left side tool bar. They have a filter that includes things like material, color, battery capacity, etc. that goes on forever. Maybe they're working on sorting things out better.

I think it's just a personal preference type of thing between the original vs. the good clones, but in any event thanks for your FB. Between your and others' reports, things are finally becoming clear or maybe clearer would be more accurate. In any event, all the people who've taken the plunge and reported their experience here deserve kudos, big time!

From 3f mate,model 1660
Cool! I had thought that this model had a non adjustable 510- and it might have been originally, but an adjustable 510 just about seals it. Now if they would just put an adjustable center pin on the 2806 (has single slot stainless 510), I would commit. But please don't get me wrong- it's not like a brass 510 is wrong or anything. It's just another personal preference sort of thing. :toast:

OK, so if we are ordering one today - which is the one to get? - still 1659/1660 ?

I would prefer the one with the least delay in firing

also one that could be later upgraded to a real Evolv board if this unit has issues.

and would it be better to order from somewhere less popular like focal to make sure it is the original source and not the 2nd manufacturer that was brought on?

I don't see why not, my 25R, VTC5, and yellow MXJO batteries all fit just fine, all flat tops of course.
Silver 3fvape #1659

The only Mods that don't take all standard 18650 batteries are American made.

I won't mention the brand of mode but we all know which one it is. IMHO that fault is just DUMB! It has also forced me to sand 1 or 2 thousandths off of several different brand of batteries to get them in my Vapor Flask. Oops guess I gave away the secret. :D

Cool. I just read somewhere that the authentics were designed to take only the sony's. Might of been addressed already in the thread, but I'm suffering from information overload.

Or they invented that specification to cover up a design flaw. Who in there right mind would manufacture a flashlight that only accepts one brand of battery. Oh that's the company that is no longer in business making flashlights.

Here's why the "nipple tops" on a regulated mod, that is a very efficient way of making sure that the board is protected from disaster from someone installing the battery backwards. And for sure that does happen. The same result can be achieved with additional electronic components but that has some loss as well is increased cost.
