I'm going to try a modified hurricane/stove top coil at some point. What I plan is to twist some 28ga then grip it with needle nose pliers and use the pliers to wrap a flat coil using the tips of the pliers to keep it flat. I'm thinking it will give good surface area without the gaps that tend to burn juice on the hurricane.

I'll post pics when I do it.

Just got my VS Dna 30 today and I keep getting a burnt taste from my kayfun lite+ when I go above 15 watts. Should I make a new coil or does it only allow the kayfun lite to go to 15 watts and not taste like crap.

When you increase the wattage on atomizers with tanks like the Kayfun you have to make sure wicking can keep up. Even the KFL v2 could have trouble wicking thicker juices with long pulls at higher watts. I could see 15+ watts being a problem for some clones. It could also be your build.

Some juices don't like being burned at higher wattages either. This is just as likely.

I usually vape my Kayfuns between 12-16watts and save the higher power for RDAs.

Just saw them on riverwalk vapors site, as of 10:20 pm mountain time theyre in stock
.

What is their site? The one I found had nothing listed, so I called the. They stated they never carried them. Thanks.

Oops never mind I thought this was for auth. Atomic, you were referring to cyclone. The mind sometimes reads what it wants :)

Anyone know who may carry auth. Atomic's?

For those still doubting this mod. All I can say is I am spending more time finding ejuices flavors I like.
And this crappy mod made me buy 2 auth. Russian 91's and have a auth KFL+ coming :)
Now i want a dripper to try, looking for an auth. Atomic.

Not on the Vaporshark, but here's quick look at my hurricane coil. I tried the same build on the Cyclone, but couldn't get enough cotton wick inside to hold juice for more than 2-3 draws before it dries out.

Hey, quick question for anyone that can answer. I just ordered my vapor shark and it is supposed to arrive on Monday. Did you have to sign for it or did the carrier leave it in your box?? Just want to know if I will have to wait an extra day and go pick it up at the post office.

Thanks

Mine was signature required. Got home to the mailman's notice that noone was home to sign, hungout at the post office for an hour waiting for him to get back. All I can say is it was worth the wait, one sweet device.

To add to this, I have tried a couple of different setups with my Russian 91% atop the VS, and have had similar results with burnt taste/dry hits. Right now I'm running a 3/4 wrap 28g microcoil around organic cotton at 1 ohm with 50/50 juice. I have the VS at 13 watts on this setup, and I'm finding that I have better results with "pulsing" the firing button as I'm taking a sustained lung draw, rather than just holding the button down the entire time I'm hitting it.

I really like the flavor I get with this approach, but I will be trying to get closer to 1.4 ohms next time I build it--as people have noted across the forums, this style of atty really does do better with a little more resistance, especially if you like to take long, sustained draws. The design just doesn't lend itself to wicking fast enough to keep up with super low-resistance coils.

I typically build 1.1-1.2ohn coils in my kayfuns/91s. I almost exclusively use triple twisted 32g, 7 wraps on a 5/64 bit. That diameter micro seems to be the sweet spot on kayfuns.

I'm able to take 10+ second draws at 15-16watts no problem and my experience does not change between my DNA30s or mechs.

I should mention all my kayfuns/91s are newer style devices with deep and wide juice channels and large airholes.

Thanks for this info! I'm definitely still a novice when it comes to rebuildables, and vaping in general (I've only been at it for about two and a half months total). I was considering a build with twisted wire for next time, but will definitely be giving it a shot now.

The key to wicking is the thickness of the silica. That is why you cannot really go beyond 8-10 watts on standard atomizers, clearomizers, tanks with factory heads.
To go beyond 15 watts you need minimum 3mm wrapped twice under the coil. This is hard to create in a Kayfun due to lack of space.
In my Origen dripper I have 3.5mm silica wrapped twice in dual-coil (1.2 ohm resitance in total). That is fine to go with 25 watts. My Kayfun has the 3mm single coil setup but that limits the airflow a bit, still fine at the 12-14 watts range.
I do not have too much experience with cotton, but once you burn it accidently the taste will stay.
