Any thoughts on the " LG 2500mah 35A 18650 Battery" that will come in the DNA40 version?? I just want to know if the device is now only catering to subohm builds or will it be safe for 1.8 builds and such...

From the Evolv DNA40 datasheet: "Any battery used should be rated for a MINIMUM of 16 amps continuous discharge current. High C rated lithium polymer or IMR cylindrical cells are strongly preferred."

If VS are using the LG18650HE2 2500mah 20A, this is a good match with 20A continuous (sometimes listed as 35A peak).

Also from the datasheet: standard wire atomizer 0.16 - 2.0 ohms, temp sensing wire (cold) 0.1 - 1.0 ohm. So, if you were asking about normal kanthal wire builds at 1.8 ohms, you should be good to go.

I talked to Brian in CS today about the skins for the 40 and he told me "they are the same as the 30 since the 40 is only 3mm thicker".

If that is the case then someone should let them know to update their website because the old one is listed at .92 and the new one is 1.3 inches wide, which is not 3mm.

I think this has been pointed out but to use the temp regulating feature of the dna40 you must use Ni200 wire! If one still plans on using Kanthal then you're only gaining 10 watts. Btw the nickel wire is very low resistance. coils will be below .2 ohms building with 30 ga. :) It all has to do with the way the temp sensing works ;)

Welp. Thanks for the info. Guess I'll pick up a sharkskin and the charger then

It's Qi wireless charging which is a standard. You don't need to buy VS's charger. I recommend the Tylt Vu. It's not cheap but it works really well. I've had mine for over a year and really like it for my Nexus 7 and LG G2 phone. If you like the round puck style, Amazon sells the PowerBot for $15.

Looks like they will be offering an upgrade service. May also help the folks who want the DNA40 but not a larger device because of the wireless. Just found this in the comments on their Facebook page:

"Vapor Shark: Matthew is correct. We will be offering a service to upgrade your rDNA 30 and put the new DNA 40 chip in its place. This service will be $99.99 and you will get your DNA 30 chip back. We will announce the release of that service sometime in the next week or so. We appreciate your patience."

THANKS!!!! :)

That's huge and when you consider the retail price for a single DNA40 board is $60, it's quite reasonable. We need to keep this thread updated on this issue please please please. :) my VS rDNA 30 has been rock solid with no flaky buttons or other hardware issues. Of course, given their issues with CS, /cough it might take them a month to turn it around /lol but I will be ok :)

EDIT: This also creates an interesting set of circumstances. I'm a wall wart plug it in kinda guy and not wireless. Force of habit with my iPhone every night before I close my eyes. /lol If your freeking about the size of their DNA40 then buy the DNA30 and have them swap the board. Not to mention, you could also say "I own the smallest DNA40 Mod in the world!!!!!"

/lol

The demands of the dna40 board exceed the capabilities of the nano batteries they put in the super compact vs dna20/dna30.

It would be fine for those that don't vape regularly at high wattage. Personally, I find my Kayfun with a 1.5-1.8 coil works great at 8-9 watts. I'd still want a replaceable battery over a built-in one for something at this price point. I'm using an istick right now and it's awesome for under $40 so I don't mind that the battery can't be replaced.

Do you have specs for this?

Yeah I read it somewhere...

From the Evolv DNA40 datasheet: "Any battery used should be rated for a MINIMUM of 16 amps continuous discharge current. High C rated lithium polymer or IMR cylindrical cells are strongly preferred."

And I know the nano batteries limit from owning the VS dna20.

as a rule I research as much as possible before even considering making a purchase. I live in Australia. It's on the empty side of the planet in the middle of nowhere. If I'm going to pay out my ... for something to get just to be sent here. It has to be exactly what I expect.

I see 10 amps is the unit spec, but do we know if that's a battery limitation?

What is the point of having a 1300mah battery with a 40watt mod?

I have a feeling VS might use the upcoming 25watt dna with temperature control for their next super compact mod? Makes more sense.

Thats a 18500 configured nemesis. The card is roughly bent to measure the VS dna40. Then a VS dna20.
Not a big difference in size and heaps of benefits. User changeable battery!?!?! Having the depth increase from 19mm to 23mm means most atomizers (22mm) will fit without creating overhang like they do on the super compact dna20.

I know I'm reaching. Just had some hope that the DNA 30 might be an upgrade candidate. That said, if it is unable to actually hit 30W with a 0.5 ohm build, it's not very useful to me anyway. Thanks!

Stack purple efest 18350's in a mech with a .8ohm 28ga 2.5mm id micro coil?

I think the 25watt dna will be a upgrade though. Pretty sure it will fire super sub ni200 coils. seems the temp control and other innovations included really changes the way it performs.
