Funny thing. So I went all out ghetto style and just cut strips of clear tape and pasted it around the 510. Sure it looks ugly. And sure any scratches aren't gonna be visible anyway (exactly like you said), but I just felt like doing it.

Today on my flight from Boston back home, my erlk just started leaking like a tap and went ALL over my rDNA. Thank god there was the tape there or it would have seeped through into the batt compartment.

Oh wow! I'm glad you taped it up! I used silicone to seal off the channels to the electronics compartment. They should get rid of those channels.

I had no choice. I have a Columbia down jacket that barely keeps me warm in NC. GONNA be in NYC this dec, and Wisconsin aka the most miserably cold place (minus upstate New York)... It was either spend the 340 or have permanent stiff nips. Heheheh

A few years ago, The North Face outlet in Woodbury Commons had a huge sale. I bought 5 tents and 3 sleeping bags for $100 ea. Sold 3 tents and 1 sleeping bag for $850. Made $50 and kept 2 tents worth $700 and 2 sleeping bags worth $400. Last year, I picked up a $400 jacket for $150.

Going to Woodbury on thanksgiving, Black Friday and cyber Monday?

Hell, send me back to Iraq.

I do something similar but i open the back tape the inside the unit, leavung the bottom untaped and put the backplates back on.
Cant tell by looking at it but its sealed. I had a near death experience for mt dna 30, thanks to a leaky kfun.

what it is!?

Hell no. I have a friend that lives up around there and he told me about the sales so I drove up, picked up some stuff at the sale and then visited him with a few 6pks and a bottle of wine for his wife. :toast:

I've got a nice wind stopper north face jacket and a lands end marinack jacket that's wind proof as well. I do a lot of winter fishing and I'll take that lands end jacket 100 times out of 100. North face isn't even close as to how it effectively stops wind. I can buy three of those for the price of the north face!

What part of Wisconsin you visiting?

I twisted 30g wire and use 7 wraps on a 3/32 bit. comes out to 1.1 1.2 . Much easier to work with. Stronger. I blue flame it and get it as tight as possible.

If you heat Ni200 long enough and hot enough it will leach carbon. There is no upside to torching so hot as Ni200 does not temper with heat.

With temperature protection off try pulsing at low watts just until the Ni200 turns pink to soften the wire to compress coils. That's been working OK for most people.

Ulbrich Ni200 datasheet.

Nickel 200 is not recommended for service above 600°F (316°C) because long-time exposures in the 800°F to 1200°F range result in precipitation of a carbon containing phase and loss of ductility.
...
Heat Treatment
Nickel 200 is non hardenable by heat treatment.

Wait, so the rDNA can't handle a juice leak??? They are bound to happen.

The air channels will allow leaking at the seam. I posted a picture of using black matte paint to seal the seam. It works well and doesn't really show but has to be replaced if you change batteries.

Madison. Saw the weather forecast. It's brutal :/

Also, DONT TELL ME THAAAAT. I hate it when I spend a significant amount of money thinking I've got the best, only to realize it's not. :(

This would be a huge problem for me since I envision changing batteries often (a single 18650 pushing 40 watts won't last long) and some of the RBAs I like do leak. I'm starting to wonder if I should cancel my order.

This is one mod that has a huge problem with leaky atty's. The channels drain juice straight into the electronics compartment. Just seal around the top with silicone and it will prevent this. Just charge via usb or wireless and you don't have to open any of the doors.

My opinion only but I don't think loss of ductility matters at all for nickel used in atty coils. I've treated it like kanthal and had no problems, having said that I'm winding only spaced coils now and can dry burn nicely at 600 F temperature limited so it's a non-issue either way for me. Ni200 sees use in high pressure steam, chemical and nuclear applications, there ductility loss could be catastrophic.

After careful thought and consideration I ordered the dna 30. Hope I like it. This is my first authentic box mod. Can't wait.
the dna30 was my first box mod and i still use it every day. It is a perfect pocket size, very light, and easy to grasp. I use it primarily with my nautilus mini. You will love it, but you will also be pulled into buying an rdna 30/40. But you can never have too many VSs.

The spot in the middle just leads into the battery section which is accessible whenever you take the battery cover off. You could probably slip a small bit of 3M mounting tape inside to seal that tiny spot. Some epoxy glue might work as well.

The spot that would leak into the chip section is on the corner. The paint stays put there with no problems.

My Tilemahos that I normally use on my rDNA doesn't leak but I've accidentally spilled some juice a couple of times. The drops of paint did their job.

Right on. I have two mechs for my drippers and I primary use RTS and nautiluses due to the demand of my job and the builds I have I never go over 25 watts. Thought this would be perfect for me. Maybe in the future I can experiment with higher wattage and lower ohms [emoji482]
