I might give them a call tomorrow and call my little brother to remove the innards of it since I don't want to mess anything upYou can send it out to get done. I'd probably take everything out first though.

I'll HAVE to look into them working my XDM. Thanks for the option.

Love the setup. I'm drooling right now lol.I used AlumaHyde II for my AR. It goes on much thicker than Cerakote but it came out well. I lightly brushed the final coat to get some texture (no gloss).

Will do. Thanks!shop around, see who does it the cheapest (look at their portfolio first!) you should even be able to find someone local.

You would have to unless the finisher knows how to disassemble the mod.
Cerakote will involve media blasting and baking, neither of which you want to expose your screen or electronics to.
If you are cheap, check out Alumnahyde II by Brownells. It comes in spray can form and is very very tough for a rattle can finish.
I've used it for quite a while on firearms and things that typically see harder use than a mod.
There are a few downsides. Being that it is geared towards firearms it does not come in a myriad of pretty colors (Cerakote has damn near everything you can think of).
It has a relatively long cure time, but it does not require baking (though low heat baking speeds up cure time a lot).
It also isn't quite as strong as cerakote, but given the price difference and the fact that you can use it at home easily I like the stuff a lot.
The biggest advantage of Cerakote IMO is not just how durable it is, but how thin it can be applied without sacrificing durability. This makes it valuable for devices with moving components where the additional thickness of a finish might become problematic. This is why Cerakote is popular for firearms.
Geez. Smh that's for another discussion. Thanks but don't drool too much. I live in a commie state so the stock is pinned and the mag is pinned to 15 rds. We have to have all muzzle devices pinned and welded so I went with a 14.5" pencil barrel too. I have a PA red dot on it now but was thinking of moving my Burris MTAC 1-4 from another AR to it.
AlumaHyde II comes in a lot of colors now. It does go on thick (maybe .5-.7mm?) which is why I didn't recommend it. The cure time is at least 2 weeks, even after low heat bake. Once it cures, it's pretty tough but will still chip easier than Cerakote.
It's about $30 shipped for one can ($13 per can + $17 hazardous materials shipping) so Cerakote would be about the same cost.

It's just a mod.
About 10 yrs ago I bought a 4runner and went to visit my sister. My nephew was about 10 at the time and was out riding his bike. When he came home, he parked it right in front of my brand new truck (less than a week old) and he was in a hurry. The bike fell on the front bumper and left a pretty long and deep scratch. My sister freaked out on my nephew and I told her to chill out, it's just a truck and stuff happens. She was surprised I wasn't ...... but how can I be? It's my nephew. Things can be fixed and/or replaced, people can't. The truck has since been replaced (not because of the scratch) and I still love my nephew.
Have you checked out the Omerta RDA? It's a tiny atty with super reduced chamber also. Has side or snorkle type airflow. Can't use both at the same time tho.

Interesting. Unfortunately none in my area
For cerakoting check out OCDmods on facebook. He does outstanding work and you can customize it however you want.
