heh.. ya. newportlocal.. brother - you showed your patience with that mess! I would have just dealt with the color change as well, as opposed to re entering that shark tank LOL

its skinned anyway, so.. ya. I think you should be nominated for sainthood with your dealing with what can only be described as VS's most fubar customer treatment of the year!

No kidding, you had one hell of a time with VaporSharks shipment issues. I don't blame you for sticking with the gunmetal.

My situation is worse. Still no rDNA here.

Jakematic, would you do me a favor? I tried to do the measurements for the rattle fix, but I suffer from very bad tremors and just couldn't do it (very frustrating). In any case I did get my son to do a very simple drawing of it, so you can see what I have in mind. Here is the drawing:

VS_Rattle_Fix.jpg

The idea is very simple, using a thin business card, cut the card down to the correct dimensions and it should just slide onto the button shafts, between the button bases and the shell of the rDNA. To install it, remove both covers and the battery. Depress both buttons and slide it in place. Release the buttons and it should now stay there. Leave about 3/8" protrude out. Bend this excess in as you put the PC Board cover on, as this will help hold it in place. Once this cover is on, check that both buttons still work properly and the rattle is gone. Now install the battery (pay attention to polarity please), done.

Jake, if you don't have time I understand and perhaps someone else would be able to do it.

Thanks, Don

P.S. Jake if you have any improvements or a better way to do this, or anyone else does GREAT!!! :)

I like the card idea a lot !

Here's what I came up with.
Am a little skeptical the 16.8 is up 1.3mm too long - the caliper shoulder measure seems to slide along the curved interior.
A piece of paper shows it at 15.5mm to the edge that meets the PCB door.

I'm a little shaky this afternoon... but can measure differently later if you need.

We want it to be a bit long so it can be folded in when the door is put on, to hold it in place. Also this fold would press against the - button and give it bit more support. Can you make a prototype and try it out? :)

Don't ya just hate it when the brain says YES and the body says ARE YOU KIDDING ME.... LOL

Yep. May be late tonight or tomorrow.
Got too much sodium in my lunch and the ticker is all over the place, add work/life frustrations.... beer, open !

These kids have no idea how much they should cherish youth, and how soon they too will say "Wait 'til you get to be my age!" :)

Just looked at the buttons again and I may have to change your design a bit.
Due to the PCV holder, I'm thinking a fork going to the + and a captive (punched hole) for the - button.

More to come... cleaning up all the vapemail in my kitchen and getting a very spoilt dog fed :)

I see what your saying. The minus button can be removed to allow for your change. This would also insure it not coming loose. I like it :)

I hear you Jake, with age comes experience. But experience comes with a price! On that note, how's the back doing?

Note:
There is simply too much risk for a fire with a piece of paper that close to the boards in the rDNA.
My rDNA is back to as delivered condition.

I will leave the information here, but know that it's at your own risk should you decide to pursue this.

I think we nailed it !

A #8 Ateco cake decorating tip is the perfect size to punch the hole for the minus button
After you cut it all out, put the button in, and gently insert into rDNA while holding the plastic back a little.
Trim excess and put door back on.
