Picking up a kayfun clone and a few BVC coil replacemnts this afternoon at a B&M. Will most likely spend the afternoon behind closed doors in my office trying to wind a coil properly on the KF. Oy vey. At least I will hopefully be able to crank the rDNA up a little further on my own coils. Any recommendations on winds, coils, wicks?

well.. still running my first coil on my R91 ( which is a KF clone iirc ) that coil is 9/10 wraps of 28g on a 5/64 bit. 1.7 ohms. I want to rebuild it though, shoot for 1.1-1.3 the coils seem easy enough. the trickier parts with the KF / R91 is the wicking, for me.. I ve re wicked this coil a few times, just rinse, dry fire the coil, re wick.

this video is decent, and works best, just a little less than he uses..

Just recieved mine the other day little uspet with it.
within 5 minutes the fire button started to stick really bad...
contacted oscar and he told me to send it in for him to repair kinda sucks waited 2 weeks
finally get it and its messed up. Now if I want the button fixed I have to send it back in and
wait for repair then 5 days to ship.

Made a quick YouTube video on what was happening for him also if anyone wants to see it.

Nice vid, but everything I've seen shows the wicking a little different. I willagree that he uses alot more than I would have thought about using. That said, I'm really wondering if my big old hands are made for wrapping this crazy thin coil, lol.

ya.. I don't use as much.. but the part of pulling the tails up when putting on the chimney, works way more reliably for me. I just don't use as much tail. and ya.. my hands aren't huge.. and working with these lil coils isnt easy! I need some jewelers glasses!

These magnifiers are great: Amazon.com: Carson DeskBrite 200 LED Illuminated 2X Magnifier & Desk Lamp (LM-20): Sports & Outdoors

I can get in my bifocals and that and actually see.
You can run them with just batteries which is what I do to make it more portable.

Liked it so much I bought a second one for my desk.

thanks for the link and infoz, jakematic I'll definitely check em out. need something. I too wear progressives... 52, and life's worn the eyes down a bit =)

I turned 40 and all of a sudden needed reading glasses

No no no, nothing to do with age guys.... light bulbs aren't as bright as they used to be.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it

I started with bifocals at 33 (a decade and then some ago) and carry an LED penlight all the time.
Once you get used to wrapping these coils you can practically do it by feel.
It's those teeny screws that get me !

Question about the operation.
I thought the DNA30 would only regulate down to 4 volts and anything setting below would cause the ohms reading to flash. Mine seems to regulate down to 3.6 volts. I have a Kayfun Lite with a 1.2 ohm build on it at the present and with the wattage set to 9.8 when I fire it I get a voltage reading of 3.6 and the ohms reading does not flash.
The DNA 30 chip can regulate under 4.0v to some extent but I have not seen where anyone has ever done any extensive mapping of what ohms and voltages/watts it regulates at.

After playing with the rDNA30 I have discovered that with a fully charged battery it will not regulate under 4.0 volts, but as the charge level of the battery goes down it will regulate at lower than 4.0 volts. With a partially charged battery I have seen it regulate at 3.5 volts.

get a sharksin and your mod will be protected. Who knows what she did with it in a yr. In pocket with change, stated it had been dropped but keeps on ticking :)

you're right. But it bothers me that such an expensive mod has that kind of paint is not like painting a ProVari that is more durable. It's just my opinion.
This mod I would buy it quickly, but I'm thinking about this very thing. If you change this, I would buy it without thinking.

Look 4:25 minutes

Yes it is widely used, but the mods anodized aluminum does not have this fault. I do not understand and they have not corrected this ...

You'll note further in the video that VS offered to refurb the mod and upgrade the 510 connector for Dimi shortly after he posted pictures of it.

I think the ProVari is more of a PVD style process and some are Zencoated as opposed to being 'painted'.
The standard ProVari is raw metal as can be seen in pbusardo's video tour of ProVape.

I'm also not sure it's fair to compare a version 1 of a device to the third revision. :2c:
