Mine was shrink wrapped completely - not sure if there was tape - I do no remember seeing anything dis-coloured like that on mine though.

Thanks for letting me know. I am starting to think something funny is going on with this device. Maybe a returned device with issues that they just shipped me out? hmmm, I asked them in an email and they haven't replied yet.

Mine wasn't like that either.

Mine was too but you're barking up the wrong tree... There's no way to prove if this was a refurb or not unless there is obvious wear... I mean if the device works and looks unused why complain about the shrink wrap...

I am not complaining about the shrink wrap. My device had paint issues and slanted DNA screen. I went to package it up today and it made me wonder about the packaging. Lots of issues and the shrink wrap is not there? Could be nothing, but seems rather odd with the issues that my device arrived with. Why else would it not be shrink wrapped like everyone else....

Yeah then in that case it seems really fishy

Not sure if everyone caught this - non-disclosure on DNA40 has been lifted, official release from Evolv this Tuesday. In part of pbusardo's video linked below, Brandon from Evolv is using a VaporShark with DNA40 ...

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...owners-discussion-thread-23.html#post14336452

The question...
Am I stupid enough to buy from vaporshark again?

Hmmm. I really liked the form factor but everything else about the device and company sucks. I don't think I can give them any more business. But I will get a DNA 40 board and make a bottom feeder.

That Opus 40D looked cool that Brandon from Evolv was using.

It did! I'm trying to get more and more into doing my own thing, though. Relying on other people to make a quality mod is getting tough. I'd rather break my own stuff and rebuild accordingly until it's bulletproof.

I've started to wonder and need some advice from people with the mod: is the rDNA worth getting at the moment or go somewhere else? An earlier poster saying that they repackaged a faulty device is quite scary as I am willing to pay for a quality device from a quality company..

I am not sure what took place, but whatever happened seems pretty shady. They could have taken in a returned device that had issues and shipped it off to me. On the other hand, they could have opened it up to take out the battery (that I paid for, but did not get) and decided to just tape it up. Or someone could have been playing hacky sack with it in the office and accidentally tore the wrapping. I am really not sure and am attempting to give them the benefit of the doubt, but the lack of response and issues with the device has my wheels turning.

I am torn on the device to be honest with you. In my case, if the device didn't have any issues, I would be happy. As a company its s***, no doubt about that. Any company that screws up, but can't just fess up and fix the issue has serious problems. The staff is nice, but the clown running it seems to be the issue. To me it seems like he is all about the money and has no real concern for the customers of his products after seeing how the company responded to a lady that was unhappy about them shipping a different battery then she had originally paid for, which happened to me as well.

If you do get one, I would suggest waiting until they put out the DNA 40 version, but be warned that their quality control seems to be spotty at best. I went to a brick-and-mortar to look at the regular DNA 30 prior to purchasing one from VaporShark and all three of the store's devices had cosmetic issues. I had management at VaporShark check my regular DNA 30 before they shipped it out to me, which I should have done with this one. I have seen some people with good experiences on here, but it seems to be hit or miss with them. With the release of the DNA 40 a lot of new devices will start to crop up. Please keep in mind that I am not happy with the company and it could be clouding my judgement on the matter.

This is what I am afraid of. They sure do make a quality product but reading reviews on everyones experiences, I don't want to buy a $200 device from a questionable company. I don't want to be waiting to see if I get one that they threw at a wall or a expected brand new one. The recent change in the battery had me thinking to look around more because they are sending out a terrible battery while adds to the cons. I simply just question if this is a company I want to get involved with or stay far far away.

As for the DNA 40, I don't know if I want to wait and see if Vaporshark releases a newer device with it. If they want a returning fanbase, don't make simple mistakes like in your case, reshipping/shipping a dysfunctional device. You don't buy an Apple Ipod because its just Apple; I want quality assurance. I guess if I take the wait and see route than there will probably be other companies integrating the DNA40 chip as well and improving their devices.. We shall see.

Sorry for my grammatical imperfections, kinda late right now and alot of things on my mind concerning my future device.

In the vape industry some companies want to be around for the long haul and others could care less. There are some businesses whose only goal is seeing how much money they can make prior to the FDA regulations. It is important to decide who is in it for the long haul and support those businesses. This is true for devices,e-juice,etc.

Newport hit the nail on the head. The reason that I brought up the DNA 40 is that you might see new companies crop up or older companies produce new devices that might suit your needs if the rDNA is not what you are after. The technology in this new chip is rather ground breaking for the industry, so you will probably see more options if you give it a few months. Ah, no worries, I am amazed that I can type after reading an economics textbook for the past 11 hours, haha.

I have only had my rDNA for a week. I have had no problems. So far it seems to be the most convenient, easiest to use, most reliable mod I own and is my new all day carry.

I don't know of any other mod with replaceable 18650, spring loaded 510, and USB charging in such a small form factor.

I feel bad for the guys with problems, and the cavalier attitude of the company is not good. But if you get a good one it's an excellent device. There's a reason you see reviewers and people like Brandon from Evolv using them.

As for buy now or wait, that's a tougher call. I'm glad I bought mine now as I think it will be a little while before the 40s and associated nickel coils are widely available, and I'm vaping with convenience and reliability meantime. I do plan to buy another with the new chip then.
