VaporShark rDNA

Vapor Shark rDNA (DNA40D Pre-Order). Once you put one in the cart is says, "* Pre-Order, All NEW rDNA's will ship Tuesday 10/28/14," not that I particularly have much faith that it will ship that soon.

Shame on them. I guess VS considers a battery that meets the chip's specs a new feature. :( From the rDNA DNA40D page:
New features include:

- LG 2500mah 35A 18650 Battery
- Gold plated, Spring-loaded center pin
- Integrated wireless charging, with available Micro-USB port
- Matte Black

Edit: This isn't looking promising for ending well. My order is marked as shipped and I got duplicate shipping notice emails with a tracking number. The site said that UPS labels are created upon placing an order but I chose USPS shipping. I sent an email to CS.

Have you heard anything back yet? I also placed an order, then emailed to ask if the current shark skin will fit. The response I got was, "Where did you purchase the rDNA 40? We don't have it available yet." I told them how but I have yet to hear anything back.

They just posted on their FB page that they will be releasing more information later today. I'm guessing someone published the webpage early, thinking no one would find it until an actual link was available. Should have known better.

Haven't heard a thing back. Didn't have any problem putting it in the cart and checking out.

This thread has become a bash fest. VS has had their share of issues and missteps along the way. But this thread has had an influx of people that just want to bash, when the product has some excellent features and THE VAST MAJORITY of purchasers are happy. When a person comes in here to find out about the product and asks a question, the same few jump in and attempt to dissuade the buyer. As if their voice is the only opinion out there.

1.) We had shipping gate. VS was slow at shipping and they were not as communicative as they could have been. They were slammed from Shark Week and had to play catch up. One person got caught in the cracks more than the rest and had a right to be upset and to add insult to injury had problems with the device. Those problems still persist. But this is ONE person out of untold thousands of happy owners. It doesn't diminish that persons issues, it does however put it into perspective.

2.) We had reverse battery gate. NOT a VS problem at all. But they got blamed anyway.

3.) Rattlegate. YES if you hold the rDNA and shake it violently it rattles, due to the buttons floating on the board. There are numerous mods out there and most but not all have some rattle. If a little rattle annoys you then buy something else, but it doesn't bother most.

4,) There was chip gate. The fire button has a chrome overlay, that on a few devices, started coming off. Someone in this thread, after skimming the posts said their plus/minus button plating was coming off as well. This was a single unsubstantiated report.

5.) Scratch gate. There were some that screwed in toppers with a screw on the bottom of them that scratched the surface of the VS. Well duhh, what did you think would happen? Now the same aforementioned skimmer picked up on this and said their paint was chipping. Again the only report of this. Recently we did have someone get a scratch on the top of a skinned rDNA, because he/she had it in the same pocket as their topper. Again, duhh, what did you expect?

6.) A couple of peeps had the 510 connector get stuck down. Push it or pull it back up maybe? And then we had a discussion about juice getting into the 510, or through one of the case joints. I don't remember VS saying it was water/ejuice resistant. Meanwhile no one has done it, and had issues.

7.) Now we have battery gate. Everyone knows about the Sony stock problems, so we shouldn't be surprised they had to switch batteries. Someone at VS made a decision on a replacement and made a BAD choice. And to add insult to injury, they didn't correct their site to inform purchasers that there was a change. Most mods that have replaceable batteries don't even ship with one, which made the rDNA an even better deal. However they should ship what they sell , or call everyone that didn't know about the switch and offer them a refund or battery exchange.

I'm a happy rDNA owner, like most, but this thread has become a gripe fest. I don't represent VS in any way, except as a happy owner, and I wish more of the satisfied customers would post here.

Yup a bunch of trolls with first world problems here... I'm ordering the 40 as soon as the site comes back up... Looks like they took down the site because they don't want ppl ordering it quite yet

I am a happy rDNA owner as well, as I agree, most are. But let me make some points clear.

1. I dont believe this thread has become a gripe fest. When it comes to forums the people who complain are often "louder" than those who praise. It's the way it is. And information wise, people are more interested in what kind of problems an item has so that they can be more cautious buyers.

2. There were several people who had big issues regarding shipping. And the issue wasnt the shipping part. Things happen (especially when it involves the USPS). The issue was HOW vaporshark handled it. By lying or avoiding emails/phone calls. Yes, lying, by saying it will ship out on x date when it in fact was not. This was again, not a SINGLE issue, but there were multiple. Were there thousands of issues? No. If there were thousands of issues I could pretty much guarantee that most of the people on this forum who were interested in buying an rdna would not have bought one.

3. I agree, the reverse battery issue is not VS's fault at all. It is/was an evolv issue.

4. Rattlegate was also another thing that is not VS's fault (imo). I've known some high end cars to have rattly buttons. It happens

5. Button plating issues is also not VS's fault. I dont expect any device that gets used to stay in mint condition. To expect this is unreasonable. BUT this was again, not a one time deal. It happened to several devices. Even a basic image search on google will show several devices with the plating issue. (I just want to be accurate here)

6. Scratching on the 510 top side. Yea. It happens. I personally don't think its an issue at all, but hey people will complain about anything. And it's their right to complain about anything. Happened on mine (stupid kfl afc screws).

7. Battery gate. To me, this is a big issue. The first couple people to respond to this had major rights to complain. Why? Because VS advertised a vtc4 but did not get it. That is bait-and-switch, and actually a pretty serious crime. In fact, its considered fraud. In california and some other states, theres a specific statute for unfair business practices (Cal. Business & Professions Code 17200). But because there were only a few of these, its not a big issue. The issue for me is that they installed a battery that does NOT meet the recommended requirements from evolv. They do have a disclaimer on their website now, so all is good with that.

I want to reiterate, that I did not post this to argue. I posted this to be more accurate. I do like my rDNA, its my 2nd fav device (behind my SMPL mech mod). In fact, its my most used mod (by a large margin).

Thanks for the additional information. I know they have a right to complain, but some are trolls of the worst kind.

Neither the site nor the preorder page is down for me. I can still add the rDNA DNA40D to a cart. Someone posted the direct link that I used on the VS FB page an hour after VS posted they would announce something today. Nada from CS about my order.

I also haven't heard anything. I emailed them twice, the second time just saying I would like to know if my order is valid since they already charged me.

Well, I got my vaporshark RDNA back. Stood at the post office for a while and the supervisor found it by digging in a bin. That was super nice of him to make the effort. I think he felt bad it was the second delivery issue from them in a week. Yes, I get lots of vape mail.:) Got it home. Still has the VTC4 in it. Display is working. A note said it was due to ejuice and they fixed it free of charge and said to pay it forward. Fortunately, I have given away a ton of ejuice and gear to people so I have a head start on the PIFing.
That was very nice of them, and I did notice someone's post the other day that there is a service to replace the chips now which is a much better policy than people just being out of luck. Hopefully, the new RDNA 40 is sealed a little better, but nonetheless that was very nice of Vaporshark to make it right for me like that. Seems they are trying to create a better feel that people will be able to rely on them for support of their product. While obviously for those that have followed my story I have had less than an ideal experience. I commend Vaporshark for making efforts to make things right and changing their repair policy making it a safer investment in your vape gear.

I'm glad they finally stepped up and did the right thing for you. Hopefully this will continue for Vaporshark.

I will re-iterate, the small form factor, spring-loaded 510, replaceable battery, USB charging make this the best compact regulated mod out there for me. Mine has been trouble free. It just works.

Last week before the announcements I "suggested" my wife get me an rDNA 40 for Xmas. Just ... really ... having ... trouble ... stopping ... myself ... from ... ordering ... one ... RIGHT NOW!
